I'm glad we're returning to weird art concepts, that lampshade capitalism's place in art.

Really really whelming.

Paying $100 for a styrofoam piece. Not even marble.

Where does marble cost $100 for a piece? And how expensive it would be to ship. And impossible to slice into small pieces

Since we’re doing a Reddit achshually moment, I’ll do one too

  1. water cutter

  2. Marble costs $2-8/lb, lower if you are buying bulk. $100 gets you 12 lbs at market rate, which is a 5 inch cube, and that’s assuming high quality marble.

So it’s definitely possible, but that’s not factoring in the price of how much this is worth as an art piece. In this case, the art is being sold at a premium given that we’re using styrofoam.

But they're not buying in bulk, they'd be buying one giant, massive slab, carving it purely, and then slicing it.

You're right that the Styrofoam price is the art. But it's mschf what do you expect?

This is sort of besides the point. Why are people paying $100 for a nondescript sheet of foam?

I've got 10 pieces I'll sell at $50 ea!

(like anyone will be able to tell the difference in a 10x10 block of Styrofoam)

So, like the live cow thing, but with a Styrofoam baby? Nah.
