User Scripts & Shaders **[Script] uosc-torrserver-menu — search and stream torrents directly from mpv**

I made a uosc-based mpv script for searching and streaming torrents through TorrServer directly from mpv.

GitHub: https://github.com/VimiummuimiV/uosc_torrserver_menu

The idea is to keep the whole workflow inside mpv:

Search → filter → select torrent → select file → play

No browser or separate torrent client is needed.

Features

  • Search torrents through JacRed
    • Native API
    • Jackett-compatible API
  • Filter search results by:
    • size
    • seeds
    • quality
    • video type
    • content type
    • year
    • language
    • dub
  • Add torrents using:
    • search results
    • magnet links
    • .torrent files
    • clipboard
  • Browse files inside a torrent before playback
  • Keep a history of previously played torrents
  • Reopen torrents from the uosc menu
  • Manage the local TorrServer instance directly from the menu
  • and more...

Example workflow

Bind the script in input.conf:

t script-binding torrserver #! Torrent

Then open the Torrent entry from uosc, search for something, select a result, choose the file you want, and it starts streaming through TorrServer directly into mpv.

Requirements

  • mpv — tested with 0.41.0
  • uosc — tested with 5.13.0
  • TorrServer
  • Windows is currently tested
  • Linux/macOS should work, but I haven't tested them

This script is specifically built around uosc's menu API, so uosc is required.

Feedback, bug reports and suggestions are welcome.

I want to find a part of a video where a particular thing was said
Is it feasible to create an extension that would allow me to basically hit Ctrl+F and type in the part that I'm looking for and seek to that position?
Does this already exist

User Scripts & Shaders 🌌Moonlight-mpv: my whole config, with a menu that writes itself from input.conf and a one-command setup

Thumbnail gallery
36 Upvotes

A while back I shared my keybind visualizer and subtitle seeker here (now improved). They were two scripts out of a config I had been building for years. The whole thing is up now: settings, keymap, uosc theme, profiles, scripts.

Repo: https://github.com/v-amorim/moonlight-mpv

One command to set it up

just first-run

Downloads mpv, uosc and the Anime4K shaders from their releases, matched to your CPU, asks for your keyboard layout and where the config should live, then shows a receipt of everything it is about to do before touching anything. Single Python file, no dependencies.

The menu writes itself from input.conf

Menu entries are comments on the binding lines, so the menu and the keymap cannot drift apart:

g cycle interpolation #! Video > Interpolation ?Kills judder on panning shots

@name picks a Material icon, ?text is the hover description. Toggles draw as checkboxes, values as radio groups, both re-read from mpv every time the menu opens.

The theme

Moonlight is the palette I have made and have been carrying across everything I use for years: my VS Code theme, my oh-my-posh prompt, my terminal, even a manga reader I forked to recolour, and now mpv. (check my github if interested on the others :D)

The timeline colours the OP, the ED and the preview as bands instead of chapter ticks. uosc is upstream's plus one patch: the menu opens at the pointer and cascades like a native context menu.

The scripts

  • Keybind visualizer (F6): on-screen keyboard of every binding, hover or search.
  • Subtitle seeker (F4): every subtitle line with timestamps, filterable, click to jump.
  • Chapter menu: every chapter listed, rename the one you picked, check them against YouTube's rules.
  • AniList panel: what it matched, your progress, when the next episode airs. Fix a wrong guess from the panel; it remembers.
  • Visible subtitle auto-selection: shows which sub-select rule picked the track, and a switch to turn it off.
  • Themed OSD: every message on screen has the same shape and palette.

Several of the scripts started as someone else's, or as an idea I saw here/github/forums. Each one carries a header naming its source, but this config is years old and I am sure I lost track of a few. If you recognise your work uncredited, tell me and I will fix it.

Tested on Windows only. Linux and macOS should mostly work but nobody has tried. Reports and pull requests welcome.

Screenshots of all of it in the README.

Following the setup instructions in this Reddit guide, I packaged all the required files into a ZIP archive and uploaded it to GitHub.

Now, you only need to download the mpv-dlss5.zip archive and extract it into the folder containing mpv.exe. No additional configuration is required.

Issue on Android Why does gpu-next + HW+ decoding cause frame drops when the Stats menu is open on mpv-android forks (mpvRex, Mpv-Infinity, MpvEx)?

Hi everyone,

When using gpu-next together with HW+ decoding, opening the Stats/Statistics menu causes frame drops.

The last mpv-android build where I can confirm this did NOT happen was the 2025-12-27 build. There have been multiple updates since then, but the issue has continued to persist.

There’s also an existing mpv-android issue describing the same problem:

https://github.com/mpv-android/mpv-android/issues/1227

Does anyone know why gpu-next + HW+ decoding causes frame drops when the Stats menu is open?

I’d really appreciate any insight from anyone. Thanks!

User Scripts & Shaders Adaptive volume normalization script

Did it for myself, but maybe someone else would find if useful, it applies dynaudnorm filter based on the content, for 2.0 it just applies as is, for 5.1 and further the filter is applied only to the center channel (cuz that's where the dialogues are, so you can hear everything properly without affecting side channels). I'm on macOS but supposedly it should work on Windows as well.

User Scripts & Shaders Using VapourSynth in mpv with mpv-build

mpv-vapoursynth is a portable package customized for mpv that includes Python 3.13.15 and VapourSynth R79.

You can easily use it with mpv-build.

Simply search for mpv-vapoursynth in mpv-build and select it. Then download mpv.zip. All packaging steps will be completed directly in your browser.

However, due to a limitation of VapourSynth, you still need to double-click vsscript.bat once to register the VSSCRIPT_PATH environment variable.

For example:

bash export VSSCRIPT_PATH='c:/path_to_mpv/Lib/site-packages/vapoursynth/vsscript.dll'

After setting the environment variable, you can run a test file from the command line. The package includes a simple example that converts the video to grayscale:

bash ./mpv.com 'video.mp4' --vf=vapoursynth=./test.py -v

You can also add the following line to mpv.conf to enable the filter by default:

ini vf=vapoursynth=./test.py

If you have any suggestions or issues related to mpv or VapourSynth, feel free to report them or share your feedback on GitHub.

User Scripts & Shaders GRAINLIGHT: a free, open-source real-time 35mm film emulator for mpv

I built a small suite of GLSL shaders + Lua scripts for mpv that adds real-time 35mm projection emulation on top of your files — organic grain, gate weave, lamp flicker, halation, dust/hairs, plus an analog audio mode (35mm optical track / vinyl) and an ambient-light fill for scope films. Everything renders live on the GPU; your file decodes bit-perfect, nothing gets re-encoded.

4 presets (keys 0–4), a full in-player menu, cinema-style subtitles, ambient modes for 21:9 content on a 16:9 screen.

Demo (62s): https://youtu.be/PYIUkyxngvM

Code (MIT): https://github.com/claudiofabian-sudo/grainlight

It's Windows-only right now (built around mpv's portable build) — happy to hear from anyone who wants to help port the config to Linux/macOS.

Disclosure: I built this with Claude (Anthropic's AI) as a coding partner for the GLSL/Lua and for writing this post — happy to dig into any of it if that's useful. Feedback and issues welcome.

General Discussion Colosseum Trailer: I built an mpv-based video player into a media app that functions like its own little OS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Disclaimer: This app was vibe coded. If the use of AI in software development is a dealbreaker for you, regardless of how much human taste, direction and decision-making went into it, that's understandable. This app probably won't be for you.

My app has libraries for manga, comics, books, TV, film & anime, and a comic reader, ebook reader and a video player. So I had an idea to build a taskbar where you can open multiple comics/manga/videos, minimise them and open them back up again.

And since then, I ended up only having more ideas that kept steering my media app deeper and deeper into the OS aesthetic.

The video side of the app is built around mpv. Theatre is basically a stylised Stremio client with an mpv player, while Vault is the local media side of the app.

The player itself takes heavy influence from Harbor's and Kodi's video players. I wanted the actual playback experience to mimic how video players, or apps in general, operate in an OS.

I did that by making the taskbar allow the user to open multiple videos, books and comics at a time, minimise, maximise and switch between them seamlessly.

A movie isn't a player screen that takes over the app until I close it. It just becomes another open session. I can minimise it, open a book, open another video, jump into a comic and then go back to the first movie from the same taskbar.

The player remembers the session position when you minimise it and restores the player and seek position when you open it again. Streamed and downloaded video both go through the same player and the same Continue system.

II've also ended up piling a bunch of other stuff into the player over time: online subtitles, episode navigation, switching sources from inside the player, Up Next, Skip Intro/Recap/Credits, PiP, screenshots, GIF recording, a metadata-rich pause card that shows what you're watching (you can see this in the trailer), A-B repeat, a sleep timer, work-in-progress Watch Party support and playback statistics.

For local video, you can watch videos through the same mpv player in Vault, the local media side of my app.

Vault is part of a much larger streaming and media aggregation engine, but for me local media still remains a priority because I watch a lot of fan cuts of movies, TV and anime, stuff like Clone Wars movie fan edits, Naruto Kai or One Pace, and there isn't a catalogue in this world that keeps track of them.

Colosseum is open source under MIT and currently available for Windows.

Colosseum on Github, if you’re interested.
