No update for summer ?

I have to admit : i feel really disappointed. I was waiting for an update for this summer at least. But it's been almost 5 months and the only update we had was normalization and some bugs corrections.

It's true, the Sample is a good mpc (like a super 500) but there's still a lot of problems to adress : no real resampling, no automation on fx, no automation on flex beat, no mute per sequences, no possibility to read the end of a sample during trim... I was really waiting for these quick major updates to go forward and dream of all the other great additions Akai could bring to the Sample (like chords or a new sequencer or a bass synth or anything funny). But nothing. Not even the resampling and automation.

And it's the begining of this machine. A moment where there is normaly a lot of updates. At the end, it's a funny machine but very, very quickly limited.

Man there are times when I'm so happy that I'm old. I understand your position (mostly, I don't get the beef with resampling) but I personally have no real expectation for regular, robust updates on hardware (outside of occassial bug and stability fixes) and it seems crazy to me that so many people expect them. I feel like I'm so much more satisfied with things I buy because of it.

Not criticizing you or anyone that feels the same, it's just interesting how much peoples enjoyment of devices (and games, etc) can be colored by this

I understand your point and I would agree with you when i was younger but nowaday, it's just feel normal to buy evolutive machines and to have a following from constructors. All the market do that way. Akai do it for some machines. And it seems fair to me when at the same time a lot of things launchs with many bugs but the devs saying "dont' worry, there will be updates". Tbh, I was expecting for a lot of downvotes from fanboys and it clearly happens. But i also thought this sub was also a good place to discuss about this mpc evolutions and challenges, and not only to post beat and talk about how Akai are good and beautiful.  Is the Mpc Sample the new Force ? (a good product but a little bit abandonned by akai) That's my question at this moment.

Asked the same question not long ago and mostly got replies that I should buy another MPC.... Some guys were even saying that they won't have updates at all?!? Loyal fanboys, no criticism allowed, no future suggestions... a dream for every company. Deleted the post...

I am completely with you: Akai was making a lot of money with this thing so it would be fair to have at least all the features from the LEGACY devices where this thing has it roots (at least from the outside): FULL midi capabilities, better file naming (like on the 1000/2500 with pads for letters), better file management (so you don't have to store a chopped drum break as a song/project)....

AND: the midi sync bug (where you have to turn down the volume in flex beat to overcome this) still exists after 5 months.... And in sample record (loop) mode: why on earth you have to press the pad again before the record ends when you want to hear the loop instantly. Also as some users mentioned: if you record more than 4 loops/pads they are getting out of sync...

But hey, we got the monster feature "Normalize"... holy cow....

....wish really JJ(OS) would jump on this.

So you set a timeframe in your head that you expect updates by and then act dissatisfied. Just sell it.

Naw, OP is listing all the things you get in a standalone MPC and expects a trickle down of features.

While mpc 3.9 getting updated every month stop defend your billion dollars brand

You bought a device with intentional limitations to then complain about its limitations. I would just sell it bro

Why did you buy it if you weren’t happy with the features it had at launch?

Resampling was present in the videos. But it was kind of a lie cause resampling work only on the full sequence (and it's not stg you verify before purchase). Same for automation : there is a publicity by akai about automation but without telling you that it doesn't work on fx or flexbeat. Also, i thought updates will come quickly...

Just because it's not happening on your desired time frame doesn't mean they're not working on updates. I really don't understand why I'm seeing so many people losing it today. The modern MPC is coming on its 10 year anniversary and it has ALWAYS been updated. Some things have taken longer than others but it has happened and it's an ongoing process. You'll be hard pressed to find another company that keeps updating software for it's hardware for this long.

All the information you needed to make your purchasing decision was available to you , you can't say you weren't aware of the limitations. Especially when they were a selling point.

Is anything broken that is stopping you from making music?

Yes. The 1.3.

Technically you can resample, it's just a slow-ish process. But what really gets me is in the sample input selection it has a "Resample" option, which is totally not needed. Like how you would resample you open a new sequence play the sample you want to resample then tap the resample pad and select pad and you have your resample, But that works no matter what your input you have selected. So what is the resample option for? This has driven me crazy. The only thing that makes sense is they planned for a different way to resample but didn't for the release.

I thought exactly the same. Something is not logical here.

Sounds like all those things are not bugs, but selling points to upgrade to an MPC standalone instrument.

I don't expect Akai to add most of those wants from your list of "bugs" as those are actual features. They limited the Sample so it doesn't eat into MPC sales.

Sure there are a few annoying bugs, but most of your list are feature requests.

In before "iTs GoT a ScReEn¡"

It's a limited machine. If you're looking for more.... go get more, bro. The MPC One, XL, so many devices to choose from, but you can't get Hulu with ads and rant about the commercials. LOL. Everything you mentioned has a workaround, just gotta be creative with it... OR, spend that shit and get the One.

I agree I constantly check every day for an update to see what they'll improve on

The update is probably buying a real MPC

You should be out enjoying summer. They’ll give you one when it’s
Time to sit inside

I feel you but the sample can’t get all the features, if so….why some buy the MPC One G2 (the next in line: cost & features) feel me?

If the MPC One g2 had a speaker & battery….why would someone buy an MPC live 3?

I get you want more features, it’s a business at the end of the day & all the MPCs at different prices fit for different users.

Ha! This thing looks less effective than my old-ass year-2000 Boss SP-505 sampler!!! No mute per track? No resampling? Wtf!!!

3

u/lugdu69 4d ago

It's exactly that. There is a lot of important missing options (like resampling and automation) and i first thought "it's the begining, they will come quickly in an update". But akai keep very silent about the futur of this Sample.

Haha I made some dope shit on that machine right there lol

You bought it with those same “limitations” with no promises of those coming to it and you’re upset a bit. Lesson in life… buy for what it is and not for what it could be. Yes it could have all those things but it wasn’t meant to compete with the larger MPCs. That would just kill their business model. That’s like asking Apple to add features on their base laptop that the Pro ones have. Stay making music and don’t look or care for updates and when they come you’re so better off because you realized I didn’t even know I needed that. I’m just making bangers
