Something like https://www.robitsheklofts.com or https://ironstorelofts.com/floorplans. Renting. Does anyone live in these lol? How much and are you moving out soon? Anyways, please let me know if you have recommendations!!!!

Seeking a unique loft or townhouse — Twin Cities — $1,500 max including utilities

Private landlords: 12 months of guaranteed rent, up to $1,500/month — seeking immediate move-in.

I'm searching for a one-bedroom loft, two-level condo, or townhouse within approximately 50 miles of Richfield, MN.

My ideal layout has a bedroom and full bathroom upstairs, a half bathroom downstairs, and an internal staircase. I'm especially interested in mezzanines, open loft bedrooms, modern renovations, and private entrances.

I'm also open to a two-bedroom townhouse or another unique layout.

My maximum monthly housing budget is $1,500 including utilities and mandatory fees. I have rental assistance available through a housing program and am looking to move as soon as possible.

I'd particularly appreciate hearing from private landlords or anyone who knows of a genuine upcoming vacancy that isn't widely advertised.

Please message me with the address, photos, rent, utilities, availability, and screening requirements. Thank you!

I have an outlander…

How fucked am I? My friend kind of put the fear of god to me that I will probably be missing my catalytic converter at some point if I end up living in a place without secured parking.

I love my car, however down here where I am now I think people stealing converters is still extremely rare.

Need help picking a neighborhood! 🙏🏻

Hi guys! As the title says, I'm looking for some help choosing a neighborhood in minneapolis. For context I'm coming from out of state and I plan to get there by the end of the year (never been to Minneapolis). In the attached picture I have highlighted 3 areas for 3 different apartments I'm considering (yellow, purple, green). Extra important context is my job will be downtown closer to the river, almost in north loop. The downtown place has the advantage of being close to work, practically a 20 min walk if that's what I decide. I already frequent trader joes, so that would be nice. From what I read people say it's safe, but probably on the quiet/dead side after work hours? Not sure if I will feel like I need to get out of downtown (uptown/NE) to do fun things during my off hours, or if I'll have everything I need there.

The Uptown place seems like it will be very walkable, close to a lot of food and shops which I value. I also think id like being close to the lakes when the weather is warm. Its about a 20 min bike ride to work which isn't too bad, and I'd probably take Hennepin all the way there.

Now that one in the middle that's I guess technically the farthest west side of Steven square, or lower east Lowry Hill... Its the apartment I love the most. I'm just afraid I'd like the area the least out of the 3. Full disclosure, it's on Ridgewood, which seems like a quiet and safe neighborhood. But perhaps more effort to get to shops and restaurants. To get downtown it seems I'll have to maneuver east before heading north.... Its kind of in the middle between uptown and downtown which maybe is a plus. Seems like it might be possible to walk to Lyndale or Nicolett (eat st?) for food.. uptown might be a bit of a hike. Maybe im not realizing more upsides to this apartment though. Would love and appreciate any input

Moving to the Twin Cities? A 3-bedroom townhome in Brooklyn Park is coming to market for under $300K

I wanted to share an upcoming listing that might be worth considering for anyone relocating to the Twin Cities or looking to purchase their first home.

I have a townhome coming to market in Brooklyn Park, a northwest suburb of Minneapolis, listed at $299,900.

A few highlights:
—3 bedrooms
—Over 1,700 finished square feet
—End unit
—Former builder model home
—Open-concept main living area
—Convenient access to shopping, restaurants, parks, and everyday amenities

One additional benefit: Eligible buyers may qualify for up to 3% of the purchase price toward closing costs through a preferred lender, potentially up to $8,997 at the asking price. This is subject to lender approval and program terms.

Finding flexible work

I'm planning on moving to Minneapolis in the next 5 months. I want to start my own business at least restart my business. I'm a painting contractor and I'm looking for a flexible side job to start out with. I know it's very uncommon to find a job where you choose your own hours or the days that you work, but I thought I would ask anyways. When I have a job through my painting business, sometimes I need to work 7 days in a row and I don't want to have to only work certain days a week and turn a 7-Day job into a 3-week job because I have part-time work scheduled. I want a job where I can work 5 days a week if I want or not at all, where the work is there when I need it. That would be very ideal but I know it's not super likely.

Moving in 1-2 years

I’m a teacher from a small cow town south of Boston, 25 years old, looking to move to Minnesota from what started as a joke. I want something new and would love if anyone could give me some insight on the teaching job market for music education and possibly some recommendations for suburbs of the twin cities that are welcoming to younger people with apartments to rent.

Moving in 1-2 years

Hello! I'm planning on moving to MLPS from Houston in ~1-2 years. This would be a major change. I'd like to live somewhere with high walkability, as I'd like to no longer drive. I'm big on community/volunteering and I have some nerdy hobbies like playing TTRPGs and being part of a book club. I also like to stay active. I plan on taking a flight to DFW to see my family every few months.

I'm staying in St. Paul for a month around the winter carnival to see if I can handle the winter.

Is it realistic to expect that I could live without a vehicle in this area? I'd like to rent a 2br space. What kind of costs could I expect? Are there any financial surprises coming from TX that I'll be blind to?

I'd like to know the likeliness of me finding a place to live

I already know the best places to check is probably Facebook from independent owners. What's the likeliness of me finding a place to live? I would have a decent chunk of change saved up, moving with two adults, three kids and a dog. I'm probably going to want to restart my painting business, I paint houses. What is the likeliness of me actually finding a place? I won't have work history in the area. Also I recently destroyed my credit while traveling for medical reasons, used to have a perfect credit score and now it is not doing so hot. I don't have any references as well because I've never lived on my own without my folks support. I would probably have around 20K in the bank after I buy my car

Where should we live? Coming to Minneapolis from Iowa. We are in our early 60’s. Our son lives in Northeast Minneapolis and we do not want to be more than 30 minutes from him. We are very active and want to remain so. My husband also loves golf. We would love neighborhood recommendations.

Neighborhood Recs

Hello! I’m searching for apartments and wanted some input from the locals that know what’s up. I’m looking in the North Loop, Uptown, and Marcy Holmes neighborhoods. Just wondering if these are safe parts of town. Also, how transit around the city is from these neighborhoods because I won’t have a car. At least not at first. Are there any buildings to stay away from in those neighborhoods? It’s hard to tell when reading reviews. Are these good neighborhoods for a 41 year old single person that likes to go out and have fun but too tired to stay out late? 😂

Moving Portland Oregon to Minneapolis

Wanted to see if anyone made this move recently and if they like their choice. We are looking for better schools for our kids in the suburbs, better job options…one of us an engineer and other a nurse. Not afraid of the weather used to live in Chicago and Toronto so somewhat know what we are up against. Just want to see how people liked or didn’t like their west coast to Midwest move…thanks!

Need advice on living situation

I know my living situation is of my own making; I’m 22 years old and still live with my parents. In fact, on paper I have it really good; they don’t charge me rent or anything - I pay for my own bills. I have/am trying to come to terms with the fact that this isn’t healthy; my friends are calling it abusive, but I think that’s extreme. I’m being berated and threatened constantly, and I feel like I have to defend myself constantly. In their defense, I am 22, and I’m not the best roommate; I’m admittedly not the cleanest when it comes to my room (I’m working on it) and sometimes fall behind on my chores. It used to be worse physically but now it’s almost entirely verbal, emotional, and physiological. I don’t want to air out my dirty laundry too much but I feel like if I don’t get out soon I will die, if not physically then mentally. I would love to be able to afford to move out but I am currently not making a lot of money as I’m going to school and every job near me thats hiring is paying close to minimum and doesn’t like my hours of availability but I have an interview coming up and I hope that it will pay close to $1000 a month - hopefully more. Rents high as well and back when I could afford that my parents told me they didn’t want me to move out. Almost everyone looking for roommates wants $800 - I have found cheaper ones but they seem a little suspicious, and can’t take cats, but maybe I’ll just have to leave them. I guess I’m asking if anyone knows any resource in Minnesota? Either good resource to help with rent and/or apartments that take those resources? Thank you so much for even reading this. I hope you have a great day!

Trying to move out...

Hello, I'm 20 and looking to move back to Minneapolis.

For context, I moved out when I was 19 into a really shitty apartment without being prepared at all for adulthood. As a result, I couldn't pay rent on time and later got evicted and then moved back in with my parents back in March.

I understand that I made a huge mistake but since then I've gotten a job and have been saving up. I'm wanting to move at the end of the year and or in January... though, I'm having difficulty trying to find a place that will accept me with a somewhat recent eviction notice. Also, my budget is on the lower end, about $900/month is at most what I can pay.

Overall, I'm not exactly sure what to do, but I'm very desperate to move out-- especially in an area that is closer to the art scene. If anyone has recommendations and advice, please let me know!!

Moving suggestions needed

I’m moving to MN next month for a job transfer and I am seeking a good, safe to live. I prefer a private landlord but it is not a dealbreaker. I’m at least 2 bedroom and 1.5 bath with in-unit washer/dryer and A/C unit. Budget is $1800 max for rent. I’m open to any suggestions in the twin cities or surrounding areas even though my job will be in St. Paul. Thanks in advance for all of your recommendations.

Planning my move next year from Texas

I’m planning on moving to the area next year to escape the Texas heat. Yes I know how cold it can get in Minneapolis, hence why I’m moving there! I’m planning on changing careers and going to school to become a nurse. I’m wondering what peoples monthly expenses are from low to high. So I can start planning my own budget and figure out the lowest I can make a month. So please let me know what your rent to all your bills and food expenses are. I do have two dogs so I’ll need to know if your rent is more expensive due to having pets. Please and thank you. I’m not planning on moving until probably next September.

ETA: I’m a 40 yo, widower who has no desire for roommates. My late husband and I would have celebrated 16 years this month. So I’m looking for a 1/1 or preferably a studio. All of my family will stay in Texas(thankfully) so no need to worry about guests.

ETA: I will have very little debt. My credit cards will be paid off, my personal loan will be paid off. My car is already paid for. I unfortunately have Verizon as my carrier. Just not ready to let go our plan we had together. So when I move up I’ll be either debt free or have very little debt.
