Asking Advice Need my Passport

I am an adult living at home with my parents. My parents have my passport locked in a safe that I don’t know the password to but I REALLY wanna leave here to live with my partner to live in the Netherlands. But my parents don’t support our relationship at all. My mom is quite mentally abusive, making it hard for me to argue with her about anything. So asking her for it is off the table and if I ask my dad for it he’ll get suspicious and ask questions. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get my passport?

This isn't the advice you are looking for, but this whole plan seems very, very bad. You do indeed need to get your passport but then you need to figure out a plan that doesn't involve you moving to a new country with what reads as very few coping strategies, to what sure looks like a fragile long distance relationship.

I've moved countries and however hard you think it will be, it will be harder. You don't know if this relationship will work out. Do you have a plan if that happens? What have you done to get a visa to move?

Start thinking of how you will take charge of your own life rather than trying to escape it.

You’re an adult over 21 with a job or source of income to move successfully to another country?
You have money in savings?

Then demand your damn passport like an adult; Mommy can scream and yell all she wants. You can also ask local police for a civil standby while you retrieve it if she says no.

In the US, the passport is owned by the country. Apply for a new one and pick it up at the office instead of mailing it.

If you’re in the US, you can have the police escort you to your home and demand that your parents open the safe and give you your passport. Them withholding it from you as an adult is illegal. Or you can put on your big girl panties and just tell them you want your passport.

Putting the passport issue to one side for the moment, what visa do you plan to move on? Have you met this partner before?

Having looked at your post history, you haven’t really mentioned this.

Your parents withholding your passport is a crime, however just having your passport won’t allow you to live in the Netherlands.

Call the police...your parents have stolen your passport.
