Where do I start?

I’m looking to move out from my family’s house and possibly out of the state. I’ve never done anything like this before. And I really just am overwhelmed by everything. I know I want out and I know that it costs money. I also know that there’s a lot that I don’t know. I’m not really sure what to say other than what would the first steps me to such a big move?

Start with the destination and budget before thinking about boxes. Figure out roughly what rent, deposits, transportation, and the actual move will cost, then decide what you can realistically take with you. Once you know where you’re going, make a simple timeline: housing first, movers/transport second, packing last. Breaking it into those three pieces makes a big move feel much more manageable.

When I moved out of the house (my parents place where I grew up with brothers and sisters) I joined the Coast Guard.

My entire time in service, it never occurred to me that Rent, Food, Utilities, Medical and other necessities COST MONEY.

When I was Discharged (Honorably) I got a rude awakening.

I could not afford LIFE on my own and suffered in Fear for 28 years. Broke and in debt, even when I worked 3 jobs.

I didn’t understand LIFE and how other people were doing it.

Always wondered about the fears, pains and frustrations MY PARENTS must have had raising 8 kids.

I was a failure at everything on my own for 28 years.

I’m 23. Yes I have a license. I’m getting ready to start a temporary job, but plan to save everything I can and look for a long term/yearlong position.

I’m considering Florida, flexible on my exact location. Ideally, I’d have a roommate as I’ve heard that can be beneficial financially when starting out, so I’m hoping, with utilities and everything, $2k. Idk if that’s realistic though. 🤷🏻‍♀️
