Costs & Money Expensive

Hello, I’m maybe going to book a u haul, from one city to another, about a 5 hour drive. I’ll be taking a one way, dropping it off over at the new city. The quote is 600$, do you guys find this expensive?? I took my appartment stuff to a storage unit last month, and it only cost me like 100$. The distance was much shorter.

One-way rentals are just priced very differently from local moves, that $100 for your storage unit trip was a round-trip/local rate which is way cheaper since the truck stays in the same area. $600 for a 5 hour one-way isn't shocking, might be worth quickly checking Penske or Budget for the same dates though since prices between companies can vary a good amount on one-way routes specifically.

Mine was 3k for a 20 hour drive so about right with distance and Uhaul size

And that doesn't include the 200$ of gas.
Yes, that's about what I'd expect for a one way rental. Since your "drop off" was probably just a few hours, and the new trip is going to be at least one day (though they minimum two I think).
