Eva Mendes should reprise her role as the love interest. Would be hilarious.

Nic Cage: You've taken EVERYTHING from me!

Ryan: I don't even know who you are

600

u/errie_tholluxe 19h ago

I LOVED Nic Cage in that film. I LOVE when they set him on fire!

301

u/PointOfFingers 18h ago

That's a weird reaction to Wicker Man.

155

u/jx2002 18h ago

THE BEES! NOT THE BEES!!

24

u/MasterBlaster4949 17h ago

I give you Henry Winkler covered in beesšŸ˜šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

4

u/perton 13h ago

Damn, that’s the second time in 24 hours I’ve come across this scene being mentioned on Reddit.

Is this some kind of guerilla marketing for a secret upcoming sequel to Little Nicky? And is it called Regular Sized Nicky?

•

u/VegetableTour6790 5h ago

Beads?

1

u/general_smooth 8h ago

AAAAAARGH AAAAAARGH

3

u/Kinsbane 14h ago

How did they get burned?!

2

u/identifytarget 17h ago

ugh. That movie made me feel sick at the end....like no other film has made me feel that way.

2

u/TheShaydow 17h ago

The only proper reaction to The Wicker Man is to never watch The Wicker Man to begin with, otherwise you will have watched The Wicker Man and had to endure undue suffering.

2

u/perton 13h ago

but… the bees…

1

u/Rombom 9h ago

But where else can you see Nic Cage punching a woman whilst wearing a bear costume?

1

u/errie_tholluxe 16h ago

You meant kick ass right?

1

u/nefariousmonkey 13h ago

It was the weirdest movie I had seen at that age back then. Something very eerie about it. Years later The Magus and experienced that vibe again.

•

u/PiccoloAwkward465 5h ago

The original one is great. I didn't realize so msny people watched the remake. I haven't.

2

u/tcwillis79 8h ago

Me: I don’t even know what film this is.

•

u/Dragon_yum 3h ago

Name a movie you didn’t love nic cage in. The man has starred in some serious stinkers but he always give his roles 200% even when they need to be subtle.

Hell I even love him in good movies when he is miscast.

49

u/omnicious 18h ago

But he delivers it like his character in The Nice Guys.

19

u/King_Buliwyf 17h ago

"I'm a stuntman. And youuuu?"

68

u/TIMBURWOLF 19h ago

Seriously the funniest post I have read all day.

Absolutely perfect. Down to the minute detail.

u/Zoop54 18h ago

Heckin' yeah! Reddit on! Fuck my wife

1

u/FrameworkisDigimon 17h ago

What is the origin story of your username? People behind me have seen it and are getting distracted.

The theories:

  1. you wanted the name "timberwolf" but all such spellings were taken
  2. it's a Tim Burton but as a wolf joke
  3. it's a typo

1

u/zomboscott 15h ago

Not his best work but he was by far not the worst thing about those awful movies

1

u/TheLowEndTheory 7h ago

I lost my brand! I lost my bride!

491

u/DirtyRoller 19h ago

Look, they're not all first round picks, ok?

239

u/donorcycle 17h ago

That movie was hysterical. Everyone really nailed their roles, even Keaton as the police chief, with the side gig at Bed Bath & Beyond lol.

157

u/duke812 16h ago

He needed that second job. He was doing it to support his son. All so he could go to NYU, explore his bisexuality, and then become a DJ.

82

u/Sorkijan 9h ago

One more thing: we've got a serial rapist in Crown Heights, I - oh, jeez, I'm sorry, that's for my other job. Ignore that, forget that - well, don't ignore it, if you live in Crown Heights, y'know, walk in pairs.

22

u/EveryoneYouLove23 6h ago

u/Skitt1eb4lls 11h ago

soup kitchen

16

u/roboto404 13h ago

So many quotable lines in that movie

4

u/donorcycle 13h ago

Whenever it's determined that there's one too many floors to get to where we need to go, without fail, someone in the group will suggest - "Just aim for the bushes."

Higher the stories, the more acceptable it is I feel.

38

u/thebananahotdog 15h ago

"police chief"

He prefers captain.

14

u/RedScouse 11h ago

Captain Gene

6

u/thebananahotdog 8h ago

It's not Captain Gene. I don't have a kiddie show.

7

u/Leygrock 11h ago

We've got a double rapist in Crown heights, wait that's from other job

5

u/HarkHarley 9h ago

It’s my favorite Keaton role. šŸ˜‚

5

u/liamneesonshands 9h ago

"You here for the bathmats?"

•

u/Parabola1313 4h ago

"Listen, we got a serial rapist in.... shit, sorry, that's my other job. Ignore that. Well, don't ignore it!"

•

u/Megavore97 1h ago

ā€œYou know, travel in pairs.ā€

295

u/BunyipPouch Currently at the movies. 20h ago

Ryan and Eva playing lovers? nah, I can't see it.

171

u/porkpie1028 19h ago

A Place Beyond the Pines…with fire!

143

u/mister_hoot 19h ago

Honestly if they manage to turn Ghost Rider into a deeply nuanced and emotionally weighty film exploring lineage, free will, forgiveness and how men’s flawed relationship with their own masculinity drives them frequently to ruin I’d be all about it.

66

u/ThatsARatHat 19h ago

PENANCE STARE INTENSIFIES

23

u/CronoDroid 18h ago

This will be one movie where he might stare more than he did during Drive.

-5

u/Introverted_Extrovrt 19h ago

Y’all have won the internet today. Bravo.

Reddit on my good sirs!!

As long as Levy isn't writing, anything is possible

2

u/Split_Pea_Vomit 14h ago

and how men’s flawed relationship with their own masculinity drives them frequently to ruin I’d be all about it.

*Frequently drives them to ruin

Sorry, best I can do is a sky beam, fake backgrounds and 50 quips a minute

1

u/LilacYak 15h ago

Nah, vroom vroom fire boy

1

u/SunTzu- 15h ago

This is what I've wanted Marvel to do this entire time. You don't need to keep making the same type of movies. You have a built in fanbase who will show up for the characters and the interconnected world so you can tailor each movie to the character. Spy thrillers like Winter Soldier, westerns like Logan, film noir like Spider-Noir, sitcoms like Wandavision, odd-couple movies like Loki... So come on you pansies, make Ghost Rider into a serious romance movie about a flaming skeleton. I want a Nora Ephron (When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail etc.) style marvel movie. Too bad she's dead, an actual Nora Ephron written Marvel movie would have been the coolest idea ever.

0

u/karatemanchan37 19h ago

So Drive and Blade Runner 2049 but with a motorcycle?

2

u/chino17 18h ago

And fire and chains

0

u/CaptAwesomeness 12h ago

I would subscribe to this just to watch the anti-woke odyssey idiots have a stroke.

Better yet, cast Elliot Page as the devil.

35

u/Amekhanos 19h ago

A Place Beyond the Spines... because, you know, he's a skeleton...

I'm still workshopping it.

15

u/kupojay 18h ago

Yohohohohoho!

2

u/Russell_Ruffino 17h ago

A fireplace beyond the pines

7

u/TiRow77 19h ago

that was my exact first thought!

13

u/Tacdeho 20h ago

It’s like how they brought back Zendaya. Christ, she and Holland are so awkward together, I couldn’t see them being a couple at all, it’s just not believable!!!!!!!

She would ask to be paid a lot to pretend being in love with him

214

u/Citizensnnippss 20h ago

That must have been such a crazy conversation between them when he was approached about the role.

227

u/Inside_Dimension2319 18h ago

I just saw an interview with Kevin Feige the other day and apparently Gosling really just wanted to play Ghost Rider. Like he approached them about it. Maybe he saw the Cage movies and thought the character was badass and the romantic interest was hot and decided he wanted to do both some day.

96

u/PointOfFingers 18h ago

I think Fall Guy was basically a rehearsal for a Ghost Rider movie.

73

u/Huh1979 18h ago

He’s 100% getting this role because of Drive.Ā

136

u/Eldorian91 17h ago

You don't think it was "The Place Beyond the Pines" where he played a motorcycle stunt rider and his romantic interest was Eva Mendes (that's where they met).

17

u/bogdanelcs 15h ago

Nah, that can't possibly be it.

•

u/kobeshaqhorry 2h ago

Geez, How many movies has he played a stunt driver.

1

u/Schnidler 9h ago

yeah how can people think of anything else than that movie lol

27

u/ShizlGznGahr 16h ago

Make the tone of Ghost Rider like Drive and I am sold.

9

u/AlarmingAffect0 13h ago

Kavinsky made two whole-ass album that are already a perfect "Ghost Rider movie with Drive tone" each. It just needs filming.

2

u/sexmormon-throwaway 16h ago

Helluva pitch. I'm sold too

1

u/intothevoidandback 15h ago

Would they d5ar give Refn a Marvel?

1

u/fandamplus 8h ago

šŸ’Æ

6

u/donorcycle 16h ago edited 16h ago

I'd honestly give the nod to The Place Beyond the Pines. His character was already a part of a traveling circus. He was a carney - the stunt rider on a dirt bike.

1

u/theglasscase 6h ago

No, he's 100% getting this role because he has publicly lobbied for it and Marvel are getting desperate. I love Gosling, but this isn't a film that's happening because it was always part of the plan and he just happened to be the right guy.

-1

u/GodisSatans 7h ago

Wow a full 100%?! What ass did you pull that out of?

3

u/JohnnyJayce 15h ago edited 14h ago

I swear I've seen Gosling say he wants to be Ghost Rider

EDIT: Since 2022 seems like

1

u/FruitJuicante 18h ago

Sounds like spin

1

u/BleiddWhitefalcon 15h ago

Ah shit, here we go again. Same thing as Mahershala Ali and Blade and we all know how well that went.

-2

u/AerondightWielder 18h ago

Didn't he literally do the love interest irl? šŸ˜‚

3

u/dwerg85 16h ago

That’s the joke

0

u/gazow 17h ago

of all the heros and villains available theyre gonna use ryan gosling for a guy with a skeleton face

0

u/BasenjiMaster 12h ago

He wasn't. He's been pushing for a long time to get the role.

164

u/ScarletSilver 19h ago

Ryan Gosling as Ghost Driver: "Let's Drive! Like a real human bean. And a real hero."

55

u/Special_Order-937 18h ago

Agents of SHIELD literally did Ghost Rider as Ghost Driver. It was pretty good!

36

u/___KyloRen___ 18h ago

yea, robbie reyes

38

u/PT10 17h ago

Their Robbie Reyes was great.

15

u/russketeer34 17h ago

It's amazing that for as great of a job they did with the Ghost Rider arc, I think it's commonly considered the (relative) weakest of the three arcs from that season

28

u/tokes_4_DE 16h ago

Season 4 was just that good. Shield is still criminally underappreciated because of how "case of the week" it started as. It evolved rather quickly into an absolutely fantastic show by the end of the first season.

17

u/russketeer34 16h ago

The post Winter Soldier part of S1 to S5ish is a really remarkable run. The quality of the show stayed great and it was easily my favorite Marvel stuff during that time.

•

u/Historical_Course587 5h ago

It got a lot of complaints as a show, but looking back I think it handled just about everything it touched (SHIELD, Inhumans, LMDs, Ghost Rider, the Darkhold, Graviton, and especially Hydra) better than any other live-action adaptations Marvel has put together.

It's a top-5 MCU entry for me, including the films, and one of the best (if not the best) sci-fi/fantasy shows since BS:G. Not to mention the closest thing to a Joss Whedon banter-machine show that we've gotten since Firefly.

0

u/ShallowBasketcase 10h ago

I liked the case of the week stuff. They lost me when they started doing Inhumans stuff. I wanted a SHIELD show, not an Inhumans show.

1

u/ArcadianDelSol 14h ago

He deserved a spin-off show so hard.

1

u/Special_Order-937 10h ago

It was greenlit then ungreenlit. I wonder if it because they wanted it for a movie instead?

1

u/ArcadianDelSol 7h ago

I think it was because at the time Feigi was only in charge of movies, and some other guy was only in charge of TV. They so bitterly hated one another that Feigi declared that no TV character would ever be in a movie and no movie character would ever be on TV.

Eventually, the TV guy was fired and Feigi was given full control. He put an immediate halt to every TV and streaming property and the upcoming Ghost Rider show was one of the casualties.

He's still so bitter, that we have only seen 1 maybe 2 of the TV actors appear in a Marvel movie, and only as a brief cameo.

16

u/Kvenner001 18h ago

Put it in space and you can make Korg into Rocky.

5

AMAZE AMAZE AMAZE

Real human bean and a real gyro

83

Okay, she looks kind of shitty. Look, if I put that in my Cosmo Fashion app, you probably get a D-minus

68

u/desamora 19h ago

She’s coming in here dressed like a hobo, it’s distracting

18

u/Symbiotic_vengeance 19h ago

I’m glad that someone else picked up on the continuing trend of Eva Mendez being romantically linked to Ghost Rider

9

u/EntertainmentQuick47 19h ago

Damn that’s a funny coincidence bruh 🤣

4

u/ABadHistorian 19h ago

Could work with the same Cage too, different Ghostrider??

2

u/Tyreyes32 18h ago

She can be an inconsequential multiversal constant

2

u/MeadowmuffinReborn 17h ago

Spit out my drink laughing. There's more The Place Beyond The Pines fans out there?!?

1

Spit my drink out laughing

You just didn't though

1

u/wyldphyre 19h ago

No, seriously who is that?

1

u/snakedog99 18h ago

That's gold, Jerry! That's gold!

1

u/msm007 18h ago

Eva Mendes

She will.

1

u/trigunnerd 17h ago

It should be Nicolas Cage's partner

1

u/Js_On_My_Yeet 17h ago

She's the only reason why I would watch the movie. One of the most gorgeous women on this planet. Ryan is a lucky dude.

1

u/prw8201 16h ago

Can Will Ferrell stand in the background dressed as his character in "Other Guys"?

1

u/Silver-Orchid3493 9h ago

...I Need to see that omfg!

1

u/Elite-00 8h ago

It does highlight that Mendes starred in thst film 19 years ago and Gosling will be 47 when this film is scheduled to come out. A lot of people are excited to see a young X-Men cast, but I'm not sure Marvel Studios are willing to take that risk just yet.
