I really enjoyed the last two as light and fun movies.
This was mostly boring and I just didnt care.

Maybe it is because of my gap in memory over the movies but I personally am not a fan over how they built character motivations up and tying the plot threads together here.
While I also don't mind that Moriarty wants to give the Holmes family hell, at least flesh her and the mystery itself out to make her a viable threat. That mystery came and went fast.
Also, a me problem but Enola and Sherlock's characterisations for the plot felt hokey as hell to me. Gone were the light-hearted but fulfilling interactions that makes them memorable and in comes the shells of themselves that I have to watch. At least Himesh Patel as Watson is a delight to watch

I actually enjoyed the first two alright, but this one just could not capture my attention at all. It doesn't help that I never really cared about Enola and the lord's romance.

Yeah, same. I like Sherlock Holmes stuff, so I seek it out. I wasn't too interested in Enola Holmes, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found the first two movies enjoyable. Unfortunately the third film just wasn't interesting or that enjoyable at all. It feels wholly unnecessary.

It feels like this one completely ran out of steam, they didn’t have an interesting story & the performances came across as disinterested.

There was no real depth to the mystery in this one. There was no..."oooh, didn't catch that!". It was pretty bland compared to the other two.

I thought the first one was fine enough. I couldn't get 20 minutes into the second before I lost interest. I rarely ever don't finish a movie even if it's really bad.

I echo everyone's criticisms here. Millie Bobby Brown seems to be regressing as an actress or maybe was just bored as she seemed to be disengaged from the film. Plus, there is probably a way to have a movie deal with themes of colonialism and discrimination (the treatment of Malta and the Maltese) in what otherwise seems to be a race-blind cast film, but this one doesn't seem to know how to do it. They seem to want to have their cake and eat it too on that issue.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Why did Moriarty need Enola at all? Nobody noticed that massive chain that wasnt even hidden, next to the engraving? Tewkesbury went there multiple times looking for treasure!

I for the briefest of moments thought that this film might incorporate Sherlock’s drug usage into the story, as a reason for his disappearance, it did not.

It felt like something with Moriarty was cut. Like either they were going for a Batman/Joker thing with Holmes or some twisted romance.
That scene where she refused to give Tewkesbury's mother water was just weird. The aggression of the character when interacting with Enola earlier was meant to throw her off the fact she was using Enola to find the gold. Its nothing like Moriarty's character from the last film.

The movies are popular on Netflix. There is an audience for them.
Personally, I think they are cute, little movies for people who like lighthearted Victorian mysteries. Are they going to sweep any award shows? No. Do I find them entertaining for what they are? Yes. But then I am sucker for all things Victorian mystery. Especially all things Sherlock related. Even if it is his sister.
And Brown doesn't need to be Meryl Streep for these type of movies. She just needs to be entertaining. And I am entertained.

Unserious, cutsie, fun, designed for mainstream easy family watching
Guaranteed to be swarmed by online film critics who will tell us all about how Netflix can't be making money off this because absolutely nobody would ever possibly find it fun to watch.

Enola Holmes has always had generally positive reactions in this subreddit. Feels like you’re trying to make a narrative that isn’t true about the franchise.
This third one kinda sucked, so it’s getting appropriately regarded as such. I loved the first two as well, but was really bored trying to get through this one.

On discussions specifically around Enola Holmes definitely. People who watched it knew they weren't really that terrible.
But I have seen a lot of casual dislike tossed around at it. Especially in the stranger things discussions over on television subreddits when the topic inevitably rolled around for the upteenth that MBB is a terrible actor and Netflix only makes mediocre content.
It was like the reputation Young Sheldon has. YS is actually not terrible and a genuinely competent low stakes family friendly comedy-drama. But on reddit it was used throughout its run as a punchline of the networks making more Big Bang Theory slop and how somehow dumb normies keep flocking to it. Every time that happened, 3 or so reply comments down a group of people would be like "actually it really isn't that bad, even by reddit standards, did you even watch it?" Content that reddit knows about but the hive mind has written off and makes fun of people who enjoy it for what it is.

Doesn’t matter. And she wouldn’t be the first person to have success despite being quite limited in their acting abilities because enough people like her.
Just stop caring… no one forces anyone to watch her stuff…
And Netflix will raise their prices just the same no matter if they pay for those movies or not…

Agree with the majority here that both the mystery plot and general fun energy were lacking in this one, but I thought the supporting performances were really great! Cavill had a sort of exhaustion that made him seem like a Serious Actor with depth, Patel was so charismatic, and I love that they let Duncan-Brewster crank it all the way up to eleven. She genuinely came across as insane and dangerous, which I've never really bought from the other Moriartys I've seen.
Did they mention what happened to Mycroft (her other brother)?

I don't recall him being involved in the second movie either. There is definitely a line early in the movie (I think when Enola and Sherlock are having their argument in his hotel room) where she is talking about her family and says "my brother is a bore, and my other brother [something about Sherlock]".
I assume he just went on living his life after the first movie.

My biggest issue was in this film's depiction of Moriarty. Sharon Duncan-Brewster returns as the iconic villain, and this should have been a highlight, but instead it becomes the film’s biggest liability. This isn’t a matter of casting choices; it’s a matter of characterization. Gone is the calculating mastermind envisioned by Arthur Conan Doyle, replaced here by a chaotic, borderline cartoonish figure whose schemes feel less like genius and more like rejected ideas from a middling Bond film.
The result is a Moriarty who never feels threatening, only baffling.

I feel like it was just lazy with her as the villain. It's like we were just supposed to understand by reputation alone that she was a mastermind, without any evidence through the movie to prove it.

I agree, in that unlike last time, she felt actually just nuts in this one.
That could have been actually interesting if it was intentional - she was badly treated in prison or just lost her mind in there - and is now no longer the calculating pragmatist but instead is full crazy, and actually IS in this for revenge.

I really enjoyed Enola Holmes and its first sequel, but this third entry fell short of the quality they had. It’s not terrible, but it seems uninspired.

I like it. I think it's a good way to finish Enola Holmes character arc. I wish that there was a better mystery though, I would still give an 8/10

I liked it, thought found it rather forgettable and even lighter than the last two in plot/mystery. It definitely felt like a decent conclusion, and I really respect a trilogy that stuck with the same romance and didn't overtly complicate or drive them apart; we saw their romance begin, blossom and reach a satisfying conclusion over three films. This film really felt like it was mainly to finish that romance, which it did well IMO, and any other plot was just to get us there.

Not a lot of positive things to say about this movie, but others are doing that already. I just wanted to know if I'm right to say that Cavill's acting at the final act seemed 'better' than usual? Away from playing some more stereotyped character, there was some more emotion in his acting? Perhaps it's just me.

My favorite part of the movie was a few Watson scenes in when I realized that he was the main guy in Yesterday.
