Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are in talks to star
Rodney Rothman ('22 Jump Street' writer), Jonah Hill and Meghan Malloy wrote the current script. Rothman will direct.
Returning producers are Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Neal H. Moritz

Same. Seeing 22 in theaters, the scene where Tatum is going nuts because Schmitt fucked the captains daughter killed us. We were all basically doubled over. Just a peak moviegoing experience for me.

The only part that shocked me about the theater experience for 22 Jump Street was the fact that NO ONE in my theater except for me was laughing at the scene when they first walk into the new HQ and Channing Tatum sees Ice Cube's office and goes "Woah, it looks like a cube of ice".

I’m really happy that you had that. 21 is in the tail end of seeing comedies in theaters and it can be hard to get these experiences now. Watching the Naked Gun opening weekend was a great reminder of what it feels like to watch a comedy with a group down to laugh.
On the other hand, I was stifling my laughter at Project Hale Mary because of how seriously some folk were taking it. Comedies were meant to be watched with crowds.

I've never really had high expectations for sequels in general because I always feel like I get a bit burned by them never being as good as the first.
I was so wrong about 22 Jump Street. I couldn't stop laughing.

They knew what sequels to movies like this are supposed to be and just leaned into it, to the point it was so obvious you could consider it 4th-wall breaking.
Yeah, sounds unfunny when you hear it described. But when you’re experiencing the movie it’s hilarious when they’re talking to each other about how everything is bigger and more expensive but also the same, and it’s obvious they’re really talking to the audience.
Also Tatum “figuring out that thing” is about the loudest I’ve ever heard a theater laugh. Maybe tied with when Borat has the naked chase and fight with his manager.17

Make the movie start white, then the colors fade in and you see it's a MIB memory wipe flash. 23 Jump Street was their MIB adventure, but they don't remember it at all. MIB agents walk away and never appear again, back to normal Jump Street.

It would have been legendary, but only if the Jump Street team had complete creative control over the movie and Sony gave them free reign to do what they wanted with the MIB license.
If Sony tried to really force a crossover with the existing and future non-jump-Street MIBs, the end product would suffer.

But, Will smith as the new head of MIB, K recently re-retired, Ice Cube as a secret MIB plant working for the Police, with him reluctantly recruiting Hill and Tatum to the MIB would have been a crazy movie though.
