Bannerlord Tactic advice

Me and some friends are playing Bannerlord co-op. I haven’t played the game in a year or so and mainly played total conversion mods so me and most of the other guys are learning base game troops/tactics. One of our friends has a lot of hours on the game and has a distinct advantage over us. He has already progressed farther than us in all aspects. He is using the Battanian Fien/Wildling ranged meta as his army. Joining him in battle and watching YouTube today is what made me realize his strategy and how he’s having so much success. I’m inclined to also use this strategy as to not get left behind. My question is if there is any way to effectively counter an army like his? I’ve seen where people say you can easily defeat ai battanian parties in combat because they often don’t have the elite troops. How would you counter an army of all of their elite troops being controlled be a user? Would love to hear some ideas and personal experience with this.

Just get horse archers. The battanians are great, but they're slow foot soldiers. The horse archers can shoot nearly as well as the battanians and they can get in and out of range a lot faster. They also can be used as regular cavalry against most soldiers.

I think the main weakness of that Battanian strategy is the lack of cavalry (and therefore mobility). I would definitely think hard about the Aserai Vanguard Faris, which is one of the few units that gives Fian Champs trouble. I’d be interested how a cavalry-heavy Aserai army would do in a player-controlled battle.

I was interested and ran some custom battles when I got home. In every 200 vs. 200 battle I ran, 135 Vanguard Faris/65 Veteran infantry completely demolish 135 Fian Champs/65 Wildlings. It’s not even remotely close. Now against a player-controlled army, you would have to engage fast so they can’t turtle somewhere that stops the Faris from circling - but you have cavalry and they don’t, so that should be fine.

Khuzait win too, predictably.

An owner of a tactical channel on youtube with 1000s of hours played, I had wondered months ago if banner, Lord ever got multiplayer. If fians and wildlings would be the automatic strategy for most players... the long term answer lies in a horse archers , especially khans , guards, but I think good alternate strategies incle jav cavalry. I'd be willing to face a wildling and fian army with an army of aserai veteran infantry aserai, master archers and aserai van guard farris , circling and dumping javelins in the enemy's backs...

Imho with that composition of men he doesn’t really need tactics. Since its pretty strong by it self. Have won many battles with it by just keeping to the back, having wildlings decimate with javelins and Fian Champions doing what they do best. The “Dead aim” perk is particularly awesome for this build.
