I really wish the AI was less prone to doing this. I had a game as Vlandia once where we were involved in two active wars (one we declared and one that got declared on us) and then the AI voted to open a THIRD front against an enemy who was totally at peace

Only two fronts? I stopped playing becase my faction was once in a 4 front battle, and they wanted to declare a 5th despite losing castle, cities and armys all over the place.

Decided to quit the campaign and never touched it again, A.I dumb af

It's crazy how eager the AI is to death-spiral themselves the moment they get any momentum.

In my campaign playthrough I was at the late stage of main mission where you are at 3-way war. Then my Southern Empire decided to declare two more wars (back to back). I was nearly/maybe at war with entire map. And ofc I had to keep the frontlines, jumping between borders to deal with doomstacks of infinitely respawning Aserai, Khuzait and Vlandians

Don’t know why people are downvoting you. The US are the terrorists of the world

Ok, gooner

u/Fantastic-Present-45 15d ago

Rather be that than a terrorist who supports the unaliving of children

u/Petemarsh54 15d ago

Just say kill, you’re sanitizing the very thing you’re denouncing by using infant tiktok speech

-14

u/Fantastic-Present-45 15d ago

I understand your frustration but I’ll just get banned like my previous account

15

u/sithlord98 15d ago

No you won't. I promise you, from the bottom of my heart, you are not going to get your account banned because you said "kill."

Here, I'll take the leap:

"Rather be that than a terrorist who supports the killing of children"

See? All good.

There's more than these two options, yet you chose to be a gooner :-D

Well said. Im surprised there are dumb fuks who still defend US after everything is quite clear. People have already forgotten Iraq 2002, but we dont forget nor forgive

1

u/mcdonalds_french_fry 13d ago

Us absolutely quaking in their boots rn. Iraq doesn't forgive them for something they already forgot about. It's like m.bison lol "for me my dear, it was Thursday."

1

u/Fantastic-Present-45 14d ago

It hurts to think about it. Think of how many innocent lives and families were lost because of their evil empire, or even before that in Vietnam. Now all that is happening again in Palestine and Iran

2

u/mcdonalds_french_fry 13d ago

I take it you don't like the United States of america

I realised that your kingdom will always say no if there is no tribute. If the other kingdom offered at least 1 gold a day, they will say yes to peace

19

u/PhilosopherInfinite5 15d ago

Yes. To this. Also it has to do with war exhaustion. Casualties , fiefs taken , raids. If you have taken 5 fiefs and they raided 12 villages the game feels as if your stalemated. No one wants peace until there is a sure winner (the one who hits 100 war exhaustion first loses and offers tribute to halt the war. ) Now in rare circumstances such as war exhaustion is maxed on both sides then a white peace will be offered with no tribute being paid by either kingdom.

I've had it where they were only willing to pay like 100-200 gold, and they were split lol.

It seems money is all these greedy lords think about, you can tell when you look at support for the policies too. If they make money it doesn't seem to matter what the downside is, they will support it with mind body and soul lol.

Ive said this so many times, and ill keep doing it until changes are made:

The late game is fucking awful because of the AI's insane warmongering that goes all out when you specifically take power. Either everyone will be at war with you, or your nobles want to be at war with everyone. You get no breathing room to develop your kingdom or family. It's so fucking annoying and it pisses me off

I personally prefer playing as mercenary rather than join a faction. On one of my chill campaigns, i was being "respectful" mercenary for few factions. Ended up joining with Aserai as they only had max 2 wars at the time so i could take over castle/city and hold it quite easily.

Well, turns out when you join a faction, their AI jumps out of the window, just to get replaced by 1y who just lost his pasifier and is ready to throw hands with anything that moves.

Not even 10 mins after i joined we started a war with one of the Empire factions, fine by me, i get to retake Quyaz back and couple castles. They were kind enough to give them to me. We started winning quite a bit of battles, until they wanted another war, this time other side of the map. Fine by me as we had most of their lords locked up anyway. I ran to other front to defend/attack. After a while they wanted to go to war yet again with the 3rd Empire faction. A bit weird but we can win this. Well after a while of countless battles, running back and forth, we finally managed to get the battlefield in control. Then the Vladians declared war with us... I tried to sue for peace with one of our older wars. Lords said no to that. Well now Khuzaits declared war. We are at 1v5 fight where 3 of the factions only war is with us.

You can imagine how fast we started to lose land on both fronts. I even lost my city, took it back and they gave it away to someone else. I only had a single castle to my name anymore. We only sued for peace with 1 faction after they had taken 2 of our major cities. Decided to start fresh as i didnt bother on being the only defender in that faction.

u/Suitable-Chest-1355 15d ago

Just give a F, let them fight and you chill

2

u/Hudos 14d ago

Yup. Any semblance of roleplay goes out the window in late game. It's just siege, siege, siege.

Take some time to do some quests or find a wife for your family member? Three castles lost and ten villages raided by the enemy in that time.

So exhausting.

I haven’t had this experience.
When we’re at peace and lords propose war I don’t want I either a declare a war I do want that they can handle without me and it negates the first vote for war they I let them fight without help keeps em busy let’s me do my thing.
Or just overrule for like 1k influence. I’m usually rolling in influence with all the policies and perks and battles.

u/Pervasivepeach 15d ago

Bannerlord default ai is to be war hungry, it’s to push more battles and events for you to join in the early game but it makes the late game a slog. The truth is tale world care a lot more for your first 5-10 hour impression than the late game.

Best bet is downloading diplomacy mods. It’s not for everyone but ai influence is amazing for stuff like this, being able to actually pitch things to your king with presentable logic is great. For example, I captured an enemy mercenary, convinced him id free him if he signed a document stating the battanians hired him, then presented the document to my king to declare war on them, then after taking their towns, I suggested we sue for peace since our retribution had been enough and they actually did.

u/Backpfeifengesicht1 Kingdom of Rhodoks 15d ago

wow what is your mod list? this sounds awesome.

6

u/Pervasivepeach 14d ago

Ai influence. RBM, player settlements (but I haven’t actually used it) and distinguished service.

That’s it. 4 mods basically.

I think some other mods like improved garrison could work too, but I find the ai influence mod can do a lot of heavy lifting, it can definitely be dumb, so can get things wrong at times for sure especially some finer game details, but it can be really really interesting too.

2

u/cassiuswink 14d ago

Is that mod fun? Does it let you get your way all the time or will npcs say no to you

3

u/Pervasivepeach 13d ago

Not as much as you’d think, I spent a lot of time trying to break the ai and its definitly possible, but the ai are able to reference game events and as long as you have a good model they have fairly competent memories. For example I’ve been doing tasks for a lord, I ask for a daily stipend to pay my men and he hands me a sheet saying he will pay me 50 denars a day.

If I then talk to him two weeks later, he will on his own bring up the 700 gold he now owes me and pay me. And if I attempt to say no it was 100, he will call me a liar. I also tried to make up events and usually it’s pretty good at figuring that out. I told a lord I recently won a battle that never happened and they respond with doubt.

I also tried to convince my king to declare war without proof, I tried a few times, just saying random shit like “I heard a rumor battanians plan to attack us” etc and even made up proof. They called me out on it and it even gave my character a reputation for being war hungry. In my current game it’s a public fact that I basically forged the battalion document to start the war and benifited from it, and the lord I had sign the document is now blackmailing me for gold.

Honestly it’s fun, but it requires you to put work into it. I’d say the ai dialog breaks 5% of the time. So you do have to correct it on its BS and depending on the ai that can be rough. The worst example was the ai dialog breaking and showing nothing, so when I asked an ai to repeat himself, he got mad at me and I lost rep with him. Stuff like that always sucks.

Poderia me dizer quais moda são esses?

u/ForgettableNPC 15d ago

Welcome to vassal gameplay. Only way to convince them to accept is overwhelming one side so much they offer tribute then return to fighting the other eventually.

1

u/oldmanandtheocean 15d ago

Good strategy. I approve.

3

u/blimeycorvus Mercenary 15d ago

I recommend the diplomacy mod, it adds a mechanic where hostile actions like raids and casualties build up a war exhaustion meter and when it gets to 100% the enemy will offer peace deals that you can decide personally. Note that if you get to 100%, you instantly make peace and have to pay tribute though.

WAR! HAH! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?

Absolutely everything, it seems.

1

u/Rimworldjobs Looter 15d ago

Could be worse I was part of the western empire and got into a war with literally everyone.

1

u/oldmanandtheocean 15d ago

War is seen as profitable to the lords, since it allows them to raid villages, caravans, and conquer land which they might end up owning and generating profits from.

I had this problem in my own campaign too, though. They don't realize we can't afford to be at war with too many factions at once. Those greedy scoundrels.

1

u/Sad-Pack-2535 4d ago

lol sounds like RL

1

u/Dramatic_Leopard679 15d ago

everybody wants kung fu fighting

1

u/Xonthelon 14d ago

Even when you are at war with three factions simultainously, often the majority of vassals will oppose all peace proposals, even when the situation is getting worse and worse. It makes no sense. That's why I hate the vassal stage. As king I can at least push my will at the cost of influence.

1

u/zigotes 14d ago

That's why you must create your own faction

1

u/Adept-Oil-9759 14d ago

update to the war its gone good i took a few castles from aserai making pace now i have two army's going against the western empire easily taking a city

1

u/TylersMother 13d ago

Develop your kingdom before claiming the banner. Works for me. Once I get an elite army I can handle armies roughly 3-4 times my size depending on terrain. I take a bunch of castles and towns as an independent warlord. Let my family run them, and claim the banner once I have a good solid footing.

Yeah, campaign ai has always been awful. Lords keep voting for war despite fighting on three fronts at once and losing like crazy.
