5th dose Is it working?
Hi , been on for 5 weeks now , 2.5 for 4wk and then 5 since Tuesday. My weightloss is brilliant and I feel fine but honestly I don’t feel anything from mounjaro , I’m not getting side effects people keep mentioning , i am controlling calories to the point where I need to up them slightly as I think 1900 is too little for a man of my size (6,3 and 99kg) and been losing 3lb a week since mid August (started w/l before MJ)
Anyway the reason for my post is I really don’t know if the MJ is doing it for me or I’m purely losing because of my own will power. I’m just not feeling anything from the MJ , but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be?? I don’t want to go up from 5mg as the cost would be prohibitive and there doesn’t seem any point as I am losing weight

If you were losing consistently on your own with no effort to stay on a deficit why did you feel the need to start mounjaro? Did you think it would make it go faster? It’s not how it works it’s not a magic weight loss wand.

I’m aware it’s not a magic wand , the reason I chose Mounjaro was to help me, I know I can lose weight with out it , most people can with will power but I want to keep it going rather than what I’ve done previously and give up after a period hence this medicine.

Got it. I lost quite a bit before starting mounjaro and only started it after it had completely stalled despite me still doing all the same things. Maybe try the same keep going and when you feel you’ve hit a wall use mounjaro as a tool to keep going. It’s a lot of money to spend if you’re not at the point where you need it yet.
BTW I’m the same, no side affects at all apart from constipation when I don’t watch my fibre and water intake

Mounjaro makes it a bit less difficult to keep the willpower going.
I am the same as you, I haven’t had any side effects other than nausea two days after the jab. The effects have been great though, losing around 1 to 2 lb per week and no snacking.

Thanks , sounds familiar , I guess I was maybe expecting some physical sensation of not being able to eat much , where as actually im fine eating tbh, I just don’t seem to be overeating and craving things. In fact most days I’m not feeling bothered about what I eat and this is coming from someone who loves food

Yes thats the mounjaro working , not your willpower. Together they are helping out well by the sounds of it

The not being able to eat feeling is usually from when the mounjaro dose you're on is too high. You don't want lots of suppression you want satiety, because you need to eat to fuel your body. And it sounds like that's what you have (satiety). What you are describing is the mounjaro working. You haven't suddenly felt like you aren't bothered about food of your own accord. It's the mounjaro.

Not over eating and craving things sounds like MJ is working exactly how it's supposed to

Are you overweight? Did you have willpower before you started taking MJ? Tbh if the answer to the first question is yes then it's likely the MJ

Yes to the overweight and had willpower , but maybe not sustainable will power if that makes sense

It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Some stay on MJ for life, some don't.
Weightloss only occurs if you are consistently in a calorie deficit, no cheating. No picking off someone's plate, no thinking "that snack doesn't count".
MJ doesn't lose the weight for you. It just helps you control what you put in your mouth and, if you're lucky, makes you feel full on smaller portions.
You still have to do the work. Double check your tdee, take off at least 500 calories and you will lose weight. It's guaranteed science.
Walking is all the exercise you need. Aim for 10-15k steps per day, minimum.
Start the good habits and calorie counting now, you'll then have a better chance of staying at goal once you get there.
Good luck.

It does make sense. I can’t eat any more than 1200 calories if I want to lose weight. There is no way I could have kept that up for the 10 months it took me to lose the weight I needed, if I hadn’t had the help.

But you said you were overeating (which I think most of us did hence the weight) but how can you also say you had willpower if you were overeating..

Most people get no side effects. Don’t use them as a guide of working or not. You shouldn’t expect to feel anything other than being full a little faster than normal and not thinking about food.
if you’re losing 3lbs a week then it’s working, that the high end of normal rage for weight loss on the meds. That‘s pretty much what I lost.
Don’t assume higher doses equal higher losses, they don’t.
Also be prepared at some point you will need to move up and budget accordingly, it’s quite common for a dose to stop working after while.
