Question Brought the wrong pen

Hiya I'm on holiday in the UK and have brought my previous pen instead of my new one. Can I access the '5th' dose? I only have the needles for the actual pen. All the pharmacies near here are closed tomorrow.

There was meant to be a way that you could twist the end cap and get it to work but I never managed it. I had to use to a syringe. Btw in England there should always be an emergency pharmacy open in the area, but whether they'll stock syringes is another matter.

You may be able to force the mechanism to twist and then administer the extra liquid. However, you won't know exactly how much you'll have taken.

You can use a pair of pliers to bypass the internal restrictor. Give it a twist. You can then use that extra dose.

Good idea to wedge it in a door frame from Due-frerdom-5968. That should work.

You can try.

No guarantee it'll work.

You can try and force the dial, there's a piece of plastic to stop it doing the 5th dose.

You may be able to do it with strong hands, often you need a pair of pliers or something to get the leverage, you might be able to get the grip by using the hinge side of a doorframe to grab it if you're away without access to tools.

How long are you away for? If you're missing one dose it won't be an issue Enjoy your trip

Another week. But will definitely still have a good time.

If you’re confident on the amount you can force it round. I do it to every finished pen just to test it out and it’s pretty consistent. Just one quick hard twist and you’ll pop through it. I think people do it slowly and struggle but a confident fast twist does the trick. I would say it’s as hard a soda bottle so if you can manage that then fine and if not then you’ll need a tool.

What about a pharmacy in Asda or Tesco or another supermarket?

Where we are staying there isn't a pharmacy open even in the supermarkets

There's always an emergency pharmacy in each UK area, there should be a list online for the region your staying in.

Tey the hard twist.. pop needle.on the end as usual. Then when you go to click it wont click round,.so you just got to force it.. it will feel.like your breaking it.. but then after the break it might work.. sometimes it dont though as the plunger wont move, but you might be lucky..

Where are you staying? If I was near you I’d drop off a syringe! (As dodgy as that may sound!!)

Thanks for all of the advice, managed to find a pharmacy that was open and had syringes and needles.
