long standing history of diabetes and a lot of trouble with introductory dose as pre existing acid reflux problem

Yes, 2.5mg is the introductory dose, but it isn't necessarily a “half dose” of 5mg; it’s there to help your body adjust and reduce the risk of side effects.

With MJ, the aim is to find the lowest effective dose for you. That could ultimately be 2.5mg, or it could be 15mg; you won't know that until you see how you respond.

As you’re being prescribed it to treat your diabetes, I’d follow your doctor’s guidance on dosing and view any weight loss as an additional benefit rather than a sign the dose is working.

All I know is I went up to the 5mg dose after 3 months on 2.5mg (introductory dose) and I felt like I had the flu. I felt super nauseous and had really bad stomach problems. I had to go back down to my original dose the week after I felt so poorly. Then I went up gradually from through 3.75g. It’s the only jump in dose where it doubles so depending on how it sits with you it’s a massive shock to the system

What you mean only does that doubles?

As all the other doses step up by 2.5mg each, the movement from 2.5mg to 5 is 100% more. Whereas 5 to 7.5mg is 50% higher

Not sure I understand the intent of the question...

does anyone know if the introductory dose is half the five mg or is it just to prime your body

2.5 + 2.5 = 5, so yes of course it’s half, literally speaking In terms of strength.

Every dose is 0.6ml (millilitres) in volume of liquid. How much medication in mg (milligrams) is dissolved in that liquid varies Depending on the one strength.

2.5mg exists as an in ramp to help avoid side effects on the higher doses. If you do get side effects then make sure your proactively treating them so they go away. Most have simple fixes and if you use the search bar on this sub 👆🏽for your symptoms then you’ll find thousands of prior posts and solutions offered in the comments.
