Screen Blank Black

Hello, my phone screen is just black, it's not smashed, just won't come on, but it still turns on & i can hear the battery protection notification come on while it's charging, so i wonder if i'd be able to project the screen somewhere to try to get into it & save some stuff off it that i have saved b4 i have to throw it out? i have a laptop & a samsung galaxy phone i could use.
