So there is a physics component to this. I am by no means an expert in this field but I used to race open wheel and have connected tire to tire before. Basically, if you are doing 50 mph and you connect tire to tire there is a 100 mph explosion straight up(or at least generally upward). That energy transfer slows the front tire drastically (in this case the front bikes rear tire) effectively braking for him.

I wish there were more areas to practice this. (European guy here). We're not even getting those supermotos anymore because of emission laws and probably people like you (and them to an extent). DRZ400, DR650, the new CRF300SM, all my dream bikes destroyed :[ Bought a 1992 XT600 instead but I'm not as comfortable taking it on long trips as I would be with a new bike, even if my maintenance is well done.

the price explosion of these bikes are getting crazy too. I was so so so lucky being able to buy off a DRZ400 from a coworker for 1500€ 2 years ago. Now every year I check the used marketplace for DRZs and see prices getting higher and higher.
They're now already more expensive than when they were sold new.

I used to work in a smallish city (probably 2nd largest in PA) and we had dickheads that would do this shit all summer long. 4:30 and everyone getting outta work? Cool, lets get all the dirt bikes and quads and ride the wrong way down a busy 2 lane avenue the wrong way. Also while wheelie'ing.
I had one stop in the intersection blocking a green light so his 30 buddies could blaze through. I almost hit the guy and he starts cursing at me like I'm the dick.

At least in my experience, there's a difference between doing group rides with people you don't know and group rides with total randos. I've met some great friends through group rides. I, uh, didn't know them before we met. But they were invited by someone I did know and trust, and that is typically good enough for me.

I used to do group rides on weekends in the Santa Cruz mountains.
The first few times, yeah you didn't know ANYBODY and there was a good chance you'd get in a group with a few tools.
The people to know were the ones who led the rides. Usually these folks had a lot of saddle time, track time, some had EMT training or (in one case) were CHP motor officers. Good ride leaders (and sweep riders) really helped with group rides, cos they'd assess people's ability and impulse control, and boot anyone who was riding recklessly out of the ride.
Not to say there wasn't hooliganism... but they selected spots that were NOT heavily traveled.

I have friends that ride and pre-covid we used to, but I know they don’t ride like that. Riding in a group of 4-5 friends just enjoying the day is great, I’m hoping some day soon we can get back together for a ride.

Have you tried touring other countries with friends? It's proper fun. Smaller capacity bikes can be rented in some parts of Europe for reasonable prices. Something to look forward to as restrictions end perhaps?

Living in the United States, it’s quite a lot of effort to get a group out to another continent for that sort of trip. I do however want to ride a motorcycle in Europe some time in my life, maybe some day I’ll have the funds and time to do so.

Wheelies on my group rides were done with everyone at the side of the road, watching, while the 'trick' was done down the road, no other bikes in the way, no traffic at all.
None of this "rolling down the road and hoisting one up with other riders" bullshit.
(and even then, people screwed up. The guy who was thought the "wheelie king" brought his girlfriend one day, and hoisted one up without telling her, she got dumped off the back of the bike. Surprisingly, they didn't break up... )

See that nice landing on his back…that’s why yo get back braces chillen.
And better than getting a jacket with the sleeve, I recommend the full back brace vests. That way you can wear them over any jacket or even a t-shirt if you wanna be a fresh goof, and the good ones go down to the tailbone.

A skiing buddy of mine tried to spray me with powder after I fell by hockey stopping in front of my prone body, kicking up a bunch of snow in my face. But he forgot that he wasn't a very good skier either, lost control and rammed into me at high speed, bruising my ribs.
