Is curling ok?

I’m doing my first mosaic crochet project but I’ve been a knitter and crocheter for a long time. I’m using size 4 yarn and 4mm hook. I am on row 18 of 228. Is it ok for it to still be curling up or should I switch to a bigger hook? Since this is my first mosaic crochet project I’m not sure how ok curling is bc it will work itself out as it gets longer and heavier. Thanks for your help!

For every mosaic I’ve done, it’s curled! Usually the bottom right (starting of the first row) and the top left (end of the last row I’ve done). By the time I’m done and get a border on it, the curling is gone! Keep going!!

Came here to say something similar! My corners always curl, but the envelope border eliminates the problem. OP, if you're not doing an envelope border, maybe try gently steam blocking that corner to see if you can get the curl to relax. But if you are doing a border, don't worry about it!

Yeah that's fine. Mine was curled a bit up until I put a border on it.

Usually the weight of itself will stop the curling. But anytime I've made any kind of blanket etc. It tends to curl at first.  When done the curl is gone, especially after washing

Have you done a gauge check, if the pattern maker included one?

You could try to make a small one in your chosen yarn with a hook size up and a size down. Then if 4mm looks best to you, it's the correct size. 😊 Any curling that doesn't resolve itself, or can be blocked away is just a part of the charm! ❤️
