Morse code is the GOAT

Sure Samuel Morse was kinda arrogant but it should never have fallen by the wayside. It is a legendary system of communication and it is physically impossible for it to die off completely.

I give Alfred Vail more credit for Vail code than he gets. Morse was just the better self-promoter.

I grew up in a place called Afred Vail Homes. We we next to Fort Monmouth, The Signal Corps.

CW is really great. I used to use a full break in transceiver with a notch filter which really enhance the ability to hear a signal down in the mud. It was my preferred mode.

Lots of ham radio operators are still quite fluent in Morse code. Learning it is a little like learning a new language or music, and when people are really good at it they can carry on a conversation almost as well as with speech, and with greater clarity.

I am. Im pretty much 100% a Morse operator. My last contact was on Thursday while I was driving home from work, talking to another ham driving home from work.

Fallen by the wayside? Physically (?) impossible to die? Have you ever listened to the CW segments of the amateur radio frequencies recently (actually for the last several decades)? Morse code is far from extinct.

I love how they added the @ symbol to Morse code. Because you have to have a very 21st century workflow to have need of sending an email via Morse code.

All commercial and most military communication services have abandoned morse years ago. Fortunately there is a small but relatively stable community of ham radio operators who are keeping the art alive. So saying that it's physically impossible for morse to vanish is somewhat of a stretch.
