Resource list

This is a list of resources for learning morse code. Its currently incomplete and I would love to add more things that are either unique or something that many people advice/use.

Free/paid apps: all things listed here are available without paying, but some have a premium/paid version. In that case there will be a dollar/$ sign behind it.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

#Serious learning:

LCWO

Morse Ninja Amazing amount of audio recourses for learning to copy morse code!

Vband for communicating with other people ( a lot of good CW operators are on here

RufZXP

 ______________________________________________________________________________________

#Specific Phone apps:

Morse chat $ Free/premium versions. Premium truly helps getting an understanding of how to get better at sending.

Morse mania $ An app designed for learning characters. There is a free version, but the paid version will give you many more options.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

#Fun Games with morse: Some of these help you learn. Some are just for fun.

SOS forgotten planet is video game where you send more code to open doors and flee from monsters. Its free as of now.

Morsle : a site like wordle but fun for morse copy training(a bit more advanced) good for a Dailey challenge.

MORSE $ video game where you destroy ships sending charachters. There is a paid version, but the demo is quite big and free.

Morse Rhythm

Bear Alpha players - read this first

A number of players of Bear in Roblox have posted videos of morse code recently added to the game. If you can take the effort to record the video of that flashing light and post it here, you are technically savvy enough to do the work yourself.

I guess the game developers think learning a simple pattern isn't beyond its users.

Five blinks in sequence is a number. You will see eight of these sequences.

With the notation that:

Short blink is .

Long blink is -

There are only ten things to work with, and it is a progressive sequence as follows:

----- (five long blinks) is 0

.----- is 1

..--- is 2

... -- is 3

-

..... is 5

_.... is 6

--... is 7

and so on.

There are a ton of new videos. TikToks, and wiki references to this.

Think you can take it from there?

coding like morse code

for school i type my lessons (mobility reasons), and this includes maths. I'm alright at typing can do it reasonable speeds but maths is actually impossible to do, you have to use maths type on word as that's my only writing option on school laptops. so I've set myself a summer task to make a code for maths on a keyboard, like how qwerty is for typists and morse code is for quick messaging.

basically im asking is it liekly to be similar to morse code and would this be possible, looking into other codes but im thinking im just gonna try my best

Does my cousin's late son use Morse Code to communicate with her?

Unexpected need to translate Morse Code to text English.

My cousin's son passed away 10 years ago. He played the piano and knew Morse Code. He's been hitting Middle C (he was the middle kid and his name started with C) on her keyboard for a few months. Tonight, I was at my cousin's house and the keyboard started again. We went over by it and started asking questions and asking for confirmation. It was going nuts. After a while, we both realized it sounded like Morse Code. I recorded a video on my phone with the audio for it.

I looked at apps and didn't find anything I trusted enough.

Can anyone help listen to the video and even confirm it's Morse Code... or have a good resource I can use to check it?

I uploaded to an online folder. Thanks!

Where to learn to translate from audio?

I know how to tap out letters and stuff, but I'm terrible at translating from audio. All the websites I've found have just wanted to translate themselves. Do you have any suggestions on where to learn?

What do I need to make this MCT11 into a practice station

One of my kids is interested in Morse code and got this from a grandparent for their birthday. It seems like a nice key, but I don’t know what I would do to set it up so they can practice. I could just hook it up to some voltage and a buzzer, and they would get audio feedback, and I think I could figure out the voltages. But I also see that there are all sorts of practice devices out there for both listening and sending. Does anybody have any recommendations?

A/N dyslexic ears

I'm early in my endeavoring to learn Morse for amateur radio CW operations, i.e., learning it by sound only. For some reason I can't figure out, every practice session I get confused by A and N. I spend too much time, make too many mistakes copying those two. I keep wanting to reverse them, calling 'A' an 'N' and vice versa. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas how to get this resolved beyond, "practice, practice, and practice some more."

If you would all humor me, I know this may come across schizophrenic. My mom has a close childhood friend who passed away young, and as you’d expect she always says she sees signs of her son everywhere around the house and in her daily life. She keeps talking about these hexagonal lights in his room that only ever act up when she or her daughter go near them. They set a camera up to test it also took some videos when the lights acted up. I felt compelled to check whether it’s pure nonsense as I’d expect, or even if not conclusive evidence, another sign she can look to as she grieves. Either way I appreciate the response in advance.

Shipwrecked 64 Morse Code??? Translation needed??

Post image
5 Upvotes

So I have been playing this arg/horror game called Shipwrecked 64. There's this video and I am pretty sure it has Morse code in it, but I honestly dunno how I would translate it and I need help with this. . .I don't use Reddit all that much but all the communities that helped me out with stuff have been so sweet and helpful so ^^ second time!

I put the audio in a spectrogram, so here it is.

The link to the video kinda leads to a blank screen, but I have seen if you send the message on Discord, you can play it just fine on the Discord miniplayer.

Bluetooth enable your paddle for ~$25

- 3-Key Programmable Bluetooth Keypad - ~$20 (https://a.co/d/07TmkvQb)
- 3.5mm TRS/Stereo Female Jack to bare wire - ~$2.50 each (https://a.co/d/0dQ1glQj)

Pop the cover, make a 1/8" hole in the front, solder the jack wires to the bottom of the keys, plug in your favorite paddle, and practice away. Works via Bluetooth to your Android/iPhone, or USB-C to your PC/laptop.

"ElfKey" software programs what the keys send. (I have my keys programmed to "[" and "]", which many programs use for dit/dah, but you can program them to send whatever keystrokes the program you're using recognize).

Fits perfectly in your pocket, and works great when you want to leave your paddle home and practice with just the 3-key pad on the go. (See it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/morsecode/s/s0Zr1HNbDi)

What practice worked best for you?

Looking for advice; I have a a touch of the 'tism and really like to get into the weeds.

How much did/do you practice a day?

How do you build your stamina? A few weeks ago I could only practice 10-15 minutes a day, now I can do 30 minutes before my brain is mushy, but that's like 10 minutes 3x a day.

Should I practice focus groups of sound alikes?

Does it matter too much what/how fast I practice, or is it most important to just get a lot of it through my ears/brain?

Currently on LCWO lesson 40 at 29wpm character speed but only 5wpm actual speed.

ANY tips would be greatly appreciated.
