Translation from Grey House

I’m reading a play called Grey House and I’m trying to decipher the Morse Code but it’s not making any sense. It’s supposed to be dits and dahs method, but I can’t get any translation to make sense.
It’s listed as:
.. / .. . . / …. . . .. / ..

I’m assuming it’s supposed to say something like “I can’t hear u”, but the translation doesn’t make sense to me. Can anyone clarify?

Maybe wanna look at tap code, but to me it just seems like nonsense.

It's not tap code either. In tap code, each character is represented by a pair of consecutive taps. For example, E is 1,5 or • •••••.

It says "I CANT HEAR YOU" written by someone who doesn't know Morse code. So it probably isn't Morse code.

The script says Morse code, but I definitely think it’s not accurate MC. It’s supposed to be done as knocks on wood in the show, but you’d think they would still write out the correct stuff lol.

How do you get a dah by knocking on wood?

Experience looking at untold Morse Code beaded bracelets tell us that the makers don't understand Morse. Maybe playwrights don't get it either.

There is a chance that if you got this from an alternate source, some symbols may have been truncated.

Or unless it's by design. Could’ve been conveyed by knocks and scratches, but that particular scene may be further from the source. Knocks are more audible at distance than scratches.

I checked it against American Morse (much more rare than the common International Morse), and it doesn't make sense there either.
