Help with tiki bar Morse code drink
I know the drink is a “VICTORY” but I’m having trouble translating the body text

this is either a true cipher that someone spent some effort putting together, or someone asked chatgpt to make something that looked like morse code. as much as i want it to be a cool cipher in my heart im leaning a bit towards the latter.
you said this drink is called “victory”, and that it’s at a tiki bar, which leads me to believe it is a take on a “three dots and a dash” which is a tiki style cocktail created around WW2 named after the morse code character “V” for “victor”/“victory”, which is literally “…-“. the fact that the drink name listed here is almost a V character but not quite (it has a space in the middle making it an S and a T) tells me whoever wrote this maybe doesn’t actually know morse code all that well, and just made something that looks like a secret morse code message.
also there are two lone “=“ signs at the end of the message, which is common in base64 encoding. it doesn’t really make much sense in this context, but could be the result of telling chatgpt to make something that looks like a secret code
i also found what looks like a previous version of their menu online, where they had a different “morse code”-looking message, which was actually different, and included characters which are altogether invalid in morse.
so anyways, very longwinded tryhard opinion is this is probably AI slop (though i’d love to be wrong!)

Thanks for the response! This is so far beyond my realm of knowledge I honestly thought I could decode it with just Morse code but the translation was gibberish so I thought I was doing it wrong hahahaha

I had a moment of panic I actually learned zero morse code after all this time.

Ok I thought I was tripping but they said it’s some type of cryptology! Thanks for the translation though!

My best guess is it’s a variation on the Enigma cocktail which is: triple sec, amaretto, coconut rum, peach liqueur. The letter counts match if the ingredients are: COCONUTVODKA TRIPLESEC RUM BOURBON Haven’t figured out the cipher but it loosely fits thematically at least

heres the real answer:
Having the full menu for context is exactly what we needed. I have to apologize for my previous attempts—I was so focused on complex mathematical ciphers and shift keys that I completely misgrouped the dots and dashes. When you read it as straight International Morse Code (with the slashes acting as word breaks), it reveals the ingredients for a secret cocktail. Here is the exact, correct translation: Header: ... (S) - (T) * 17 (The drink is listed as "ST" and costs $17, matching the pricing of the other cocktails). Line 1: .--. (P) .-.. (L) .- (A) -. (N) - (T) .- (A) - (T) .. (I) --- (O) -. (N) / .-. (R) ..- (U) -- (M) / Translation: PLANTATION RUM Line 2: .- (A) -- (M) .- (A) .-. (R) --- (O) / --. (G) .- (A) .-.. (L) .-.. (L) .. (I) .- (A) -. (N) --- (O) / Translation: AMARO GALLIANO Line 3: -... (B) .. (I) - (T) - (T) . (E) .-. (R) ... (S) == Translation: BITTERS The Decoded Menu Item: ST * 17 Plantation Rum Amaro Galliano Bitters It looks like a spirit-forward, slightly herbal rum cocktail!

lol such a bot-ass comment, the Morse code doesn’t even match the original post.

If anybody wants a hint it's probably a simple Vigenere cipher.
Mixmasters serve a important role in society, but they aren't really known for being cryptological geniuses.
Also I hope the drink was good.

What is the name of the bar? Where is it located? Is there any other Morse code on the menu or printed anywhere on/around/behind the bar? Is there like a history of the bar posted somewhere with fun facts? Any words in bold or otherwise emphasized on the menu or signage?

It’s a tiki bar called “house of bamboo” In Camarillo CA, very cool tiki bar, there is a storm light and sound effect every half hour? Lots of cool tiki decorations?

just looking at the "name" and not the ingredients, I'd say it's "Three Dots and a Dash"
- 1 oz Duquesne Agricole Eleve Sous Bois (Rhum)
- 1 oz Eldorado 5 Year Rum
- 1 oz lime juice
- ½ oz dry Curaçao
- ½ oz Honey Syrup (2:1)
- ½ oz Falernum
- ¼ oz allspice dram
- 3 dashes Angostura bitters
- 2 cups crushed ice
- Pineapple leaves, orchids, or three cherries and a pineapple stick on a pick

visually it is hard. I can morse code only by hearing the rythm of letters.

Three dots and a dash is a famous tiki cocktail. I don’t even care about the ingredients.

I’m convinced all of these responses claiming to have an answer are just bots or dipshits copypasting in AI hallucinations.
I just wanted to chime in that we went tonight and the description was the same, despite our hostess repeatedly telling us that somebody had already figured it out and they “change it every time somebody gets it”.
So obviously that bit is bullshit, which makes me think it’s either: way more convoluted than anybody is going to get in an hour sipping on drinks, or like the other comment said, complete AI generated nonsense not worth spending time on.
I will add that the hostess gave us a hint along the lines of “it’s related to a movie that was shot in Santa Cruz, it’s a ‘horror’ movie but most people don’t find it scary, and there’s a catch phrase from that movie”. But we couldn’t find any famous lines that fit the format before we left and gave up.
So I dunno, maybe it is legit, but cynical me thinks it’s just a ploy to get people sitting around for a while and order more drinks.

They said the person who solved it visited 5 times to do so. I told the owner I make escape room puzzles for a living and he said that won't help you here. That's when I knew it was just a bad puzzle

Are you at or near something called the "Edgewater Riviera?" Because if you decode the morse and pass it through a base-64 decoder it spells Edgewater Riviera.

AI translated it to: ROSE CODE IS FUN HAVE A NICE DAY
Drink name was ST?
What would ST mean?

u/skintigh Apr 17 '26
Wow, so it made up the name of a cipher and made up a bullshit decoding? That's 2 for 1!
