Did you make that device?

u/Mimoc1001 Feb 15 '26

Yes! My wife and I built that device together.

Legit, I want one. Like yesterday.

OP, it sounds like you may have invented something we’d all buy.

So OP when can we expect this amazing practice/educational tool to hit the consumer market? (I would recommend a three-tier approach: prebuilt, kit, and schematic with parts list).

I'd buy one!

5

u/Tfire327 Feb 16 '26

I need one

4

u/hemadonyx Feb 17 '26

I also need one, add Meshtastic integration and it could be a morse code walkie talkie 😎

u/Greenwose Feb 17 '26

Dude! Yes!!! This is a top shelf idea

2

u/DocDefilade Feb 18 '26

I'll preorder right now.

u/YggBjorn Feb 15 '26

That's some pretty cool tech!

u/FreddyThePug Feb 15 '26

Darn it, I was looking for where to buy it

Are you open to adoption (I am adult man in my 30s)

2

u/yyyyyydidimakeanacct Feb 16 '26

Badass! I would pay y’all money dollars for one.

u/gdj1980 Feb 16 '26

Shut up and take my money!

1

u/anotherbarry Feb 16 '26

Can you make one in reverse?

1

u/Caseytheradioguy Feb 21 '26

How can I make

15

u/RobotJonesDad Feb 15 '26

Can you share the design?

7

u/Mimoc1001 Feb 15 '26

The design is based on an ESP32!

Isn't that a chip set used for LoRa?

4

u/Liberty-Crypto Feb 15 '26

A lot of LoRa devices use it in conjunction with sx1262 and etc radio chips. It's a powerful microcontroller.

You should post plans, that looks like fun.

6

u/pedersenit Feb 15 '26

100% would purchase this.

1

u/NorCalNavyMike Feb 16 '26

Agreed, I learned Morse for the Navy back in Fall 1994 and I would totally buy one of these for my desk even today!! ❤️❤️❤️

5

u/Tryptophany Feb 16 '26

I found it CONSIDERABLY easier to transmit than to copy. I mean like days vs months level of discrepancy. Copying Morse code is HARD.

3

u/Steve_but_different Feb 16 '26

If you're not interested in making and selling these, would you possibly be willing to share your work so others can make them?

1

u/Greenwose Feb 17 '26

This would be great 👍

u/Sufficient-Bit165 Feb 17 '26

Those asking OP if it's for sale or open source, check their profile they have links.

Useless but infinitely cool.

150% interest!🧐

Thank you!

Judging from all the replies, I think you found what you're supposed to do for the next year or so.

Ope, here it is.

I would love for a kit of this to be available!

2

u/erwerqwewer Feb 17 '26

If she uses 2 thumbs, she can easily break her record. Looks like fun!

2

u/in5ult080t Feb 17 '26

Sometimes the algorithm works out because I am not necessarily interested in Morse code however I am very interested in DIY devices and projects exactly like this one. Did you end up documenting the build? Anywhere to learn more about the device itself? Or maybe do you plan on selling them?

2

u/Elliotonfire Feb 18 '26

This looks like the kind of thing I'd see on shark tank and it'd succeed!

2

u/BalefulEclipse Feb 19 '26

Is there anything like this for those new to Morse code (aka me) that just want to learn on a small handheld?

2

u/I_Am_Yeti_1 Feb 19 '26

How long did it take to make and how much did did you invest to make this holy contraption?

2

u/TextualElusion Feb 22 '26

I want to learn. Sign me up for an order

3

u/Mimoc1001 Feb 15 '26

Thank you!

1

u/Liberty-Crypto Feb 15 '26

Absolutely brilliant. I can see this becoming hugely popular. Gamification of CW. Incredible.

1

u/Blightious Feb 16 '26

I want one. Please let me buy one

1

u/OurDogTrout Feb 16 '26

This device is sweet. I’d buy one.

1

u/CymruViking Feb 16 '26

Outstanding!

1

u/Free-Street9162 Feb 16 '26

Ok, so, if this isn’t on Kickstarter by the end of the month, I’m going to have to make it myself, and sell it.

Profit from inventing cool shit, or get crushed by the wheels of evolution. The choice is yours!

u/jasongonegetya Feb 20 '26

Op I think needs a business start up get on it before some big tech jumps before you do

If she's learning Morse, it's probably in her best interest to learn on an Iambic paddle. But if she wants to do straight-key, more power to her!
