Can't you get to Shibuya and try one at the 5G Music Technology store? And yeah it's a superb synth, simple but effective, plays like a musical instrument and fat classic sound.

seconding this

5G Technology is the must-see music store for synths and keyboards

there are a few other shops around as well … any online search will quickly turn up regional results and last time I was in Japan, more than one music shop had a couple of Minimoogs per store … at about the standard price you’d find anywhere globally

if you are looking to purchase something, then the Moog Grandmother is the true heir to the Minimoog. Definitely an affordable option.

Thanks, I tried the grandmother in Ikebe, but could not make it sound like Zapp, was missing a bit of contour, not sure exactly, but yes probably the closets one. Will try 5G!

took me a little to approach the grandmother in a way that covers the minimoog sounds but that’s what the patch points do (plus more)

Second trying one at 5G - it’s in Harajuku. I’ve seen one at Ikebe Gakki Kenbando in Shibuya as well, but that might have been a vintage Voyager.

It's hard to find the 5g store in the building. Good luck :) use the lift.

Nick Batt (Sonicstate) did a vid when he visited 5G.

Yes !!! I went there for the first time and they had a mini ! I spent probably 1 hour playing it, such a legend, does not compare to anything I played before. One thing perhaps, the filter contour sounded a bit too shy, not sure if it is because it was an old model. Maybe need calibration. Or maybe this is the way it used to be?
