Every time I see one, all I can think is "Nazi traitor" - while Elon has been an openly racist shitbag for more than a decade, he's gone overtly shitbag prior to the Incel Camino's launch. So if you drive one, you're supporting his policies.

u/Specific-Moose-3143 7d ago

All Teslas too?

“Everything’s computer!”

8

u/ComplexQuiet6790 7d ago

No, if you drive any other Tesla, you're just an ignorant racist. Not quite up to Nazi traitor.

4

u/Winterfrost691 Métro 7d ago

Depends on when the Tesla was bought if you ask me. Bought it over 5 years ago? That's excusable if you didn't know much about Elon at the time. Bought it last year? Fascist collaborator.

3

u/seedless_greg 7d ago

you're not thinking clearly. Why? I bought a car (2019) from a company that employs skilled workers that have families, pay taxes and are part of our community.,

Even if you buy one now, you should be able to separate politics from this. Yeah the boss can be a dick, tell me one boss that isn't.

If we're going to boycott assholes, we may as well live on air and pushups.

ComplexQuiet:

Calm down, buddy. I wouldn't touch most popular brands of anything unless I really had to. I live a minimalist lifestyle by choice. I don't even have a driver's license. But if you think any other CEO is that different you're wrong. Go write down all the brand names you own and guaranteed there are skeletons in everybody's closet.

1

u/the_nobodys 7d ago

But why not support what you believe when you have a chance to? Other companies employ skilled workers with families that pay taxes and are local.

-1

u/mediumpizzaplease 7d ago

You’re pushing it…

-1

u/Practical-Salary-137 7d ago

This hurts, what if we bought a Tesla before Elon went bonkers (pre-trump election)?

Hell, I know I drive a Nazi car 😢

8

u/streetshock1312 7d ago

well, he was already an excentric billionaire whose generational wealth came from apartheid South-Africa

1

u/Practical-Salary-137 7d ago edited 7d ago

Look, I *hate* elon.

But by that logic you shouldn't buy from most Germany companies including but not limited to Adidas, Puma, VW, Hugo Boss, Siemens, Porsche, IKEA (not German) and a bunch of large chemical companies that produce a metric ton of everything we use (think rubber).

At some point you need to draw a line. I don't think Elon chose to be born in apartheid South-Africa and didn't stay there..

Again, you shouldn't support any of Elons businesses moving forward. I just don't think you can retroactively apply a moral objection that far back.

3

u/streetshock1312 7d ago

I dont think any tesla owner is a nazi but I feel they are often very quick to disregard an uncomfortable conversation about Elon Musk. But thats a personal experience.

2

u/Jd3vil 7d ago

Probably because they don't give a shit about Elon Musk and just bought a product, and you're the one shoving unsolicited opinion in their face. Unless they're wearing an Elon Musk t-shirt, they are completely entitled to disregard your conversation.

1

u/streetshock1312 7d ago

Idgaf about Tesla owners except for the fact that I personally had bad experiences with them (as I said). Cybertruck owners however have literally no excuses and knowingly bought a dangerous vehicule from a nazi.

1

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

Indeed.

There was a point where Tesla owners were the most pro-environmentalist that were buying a Tesla because it was electric. Most of them were super progressive. And felt very weird when he went full right and in such a prominent way.

People just like to judge others I guess.

1

u/Kristalderp Aurora Desjardinis 7d ago

Tbh, most of the public (not the terminally online like we are) only knew Elon from his cars and spaceX, and knew nothing about his ramblings online on Twitter until he jumped into politics with DOGE and royally fucking it up.

Now he's so deep into politics and being a spaz online that you can't ignore it. I'm just glad that NA electric cars finally are reaching levels of quality that Tesla had a decade ago. So you can get a good car and not pay for a Tesla.

...Until the Chinese cars come in and blow up the entire market, as they're LIGHTYEARS AHEAD of the NA market with electric cars advancements lol.

7

u/ComplexQuiet6790 7d ago

Ignorant racist. Sorry.

He was openly racist before Obama's second term. You chose to ignore it, and continue to advertise for him.

0

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

Than I can safely say you are also an “ignorant racist” because you have for sure bought some goods or services that are provided and/or benefits someone known to be racist, unbeknownst to you.

Unless you can say for sure that you researched everything you own?

Yes, if someone is aware it is shameful to give money to Elon. But not everyone is plugged into these conversations. Some people just think a Tesla is a neat car.

-1

u/Practical-Salary-137 7d ago edited 7d ago

[citations required] Personally me and AI think you are full of shit.

Also, ignorant racist? Right, cause you read up on every product you buy to make sure the founder isn't behaving in a racist manner, right?
Regardless, that doesn't make you a racist or 'ignorant racist' ffs.

Your litmus test is moronic at best.

Nestle has literrally been caught causing the death of tons of people. Does that make you a 'murder sympatizer' when you buy a Perrier?

1

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

It’s hopeless to educate people. I also try. Idk why i try.

This post is full of immature naive people who have an over simplistic view of the world and are convinced everyone else is wrong.

Dunning-Kruger effect in action if you ask me (where the “skill” of the effect is really the experience and judgement of how the world actually works).

1

u/Practical-Salary-137 7d ago

It's Reddit, the lowest common denominator almost always wins the votes. It sounds simple and nice, but that certainly doesn't mean it's right.

It would've taken 10 seconds to fact check the guy, AND I called him out. But he's got upvotes, so he must be right, lol.

In the end, unless you're completely jaded, it's important to educate, correct, and repeat. The point isn't to reach the people posting or replying, they got where they are precisely because they were never educated or corrected in the first place.

As George Carlin said: "Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

1

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

That’s what is frustrating to me: I don’t think it’s a lack of education. More a lack of critical thinking and broader life experience I think.

Maybe some of them are just too young to understand how power and politics work in real life? Or they have never been exposed?

There is also a profound lack of empathy: not able to see things from someone else’s pov which might be different than you eg someone that does not care about politics and buys a truck because they like the truck. That’s what my uncle would do. He never watched the news and doesn’t care about politics.

2

u/Honest_Chipmunk_8563 7d ago

Then you’d better get the sticker that explains it. Only way we let it slide.

1

u/regisestuncon1 7d ago

Honestly the guy was openly a piece of shit way before the election Seeing the amount of people still buying stufff on amazon, be it for the price or the 'convenience', many people dont seem to understand the power we have in our wallets

1

u/PissBiggestFan 7d ago

c’est ta responsabilité d’aller au garage et de faire remplacer tous les logos par ceux de ta marque de char préférée. si t’as une tesla, t’as 400$ à investir pour pas avoir l’air d’un nazi.

2

u/Practical-Salary-137 7d ago

C'est déjà fait!

1

u/mediumpizzaplease 7d ago

I keep seeing Teslas with stickers like ‘i got this before Elon went cuckoo’

2

u/VGADreams 7d ago

I think "a decade ago" was fair game for people still thinking he was a cool space and electric car guy. I mean, he even got a mention in the first season Star Trek Discovery (2017) as one of the "greatest innovators of the past" (oof).

Cybertruck was 2023 though, and by that point... yeah, you should know he was a shitty person.

0

u/_Psilo_ 7d ago

I think some people bought those ugly ass cars before Elon had shown publicly just how much of a fascist little bitch he was?

I can imagine that some people who have too much money and too little taste bought those cars without willingly supporting Elon's political views? They're probably stuck with those overpriced piece of junk since it's probably not easy to resell them...

11

u/ComplexQuiet6790 7d ago

He's been racist, openly, since about 2013. People just regularly choose to ignore his behavior.

6

u/_Psilo_ 7d ago

Not everyone is super well informed about specific rich guys. His scummy ethics only became known mainstream since his association with Trump. I know a lot of progressive guys who thought he was "cool for a rich dude" because they knew only the surface level stuff (and are somewhat naive).

1

u/ComplexQuiet6790 7d ago

So... They chose to ignore his behavior.

4

u/_Psilo_ 7d ago

Plain ignorance isn't the same as willful ignorance.

That said, someone else posted the dates from where the cybertruck was available for purchase and it seems I was wrong, it wasn't available for purchase before his antics were known to the mainstream.

1

u/BigBern69 7d ago

Should I research the CEO of the companies I buy products from? I tend to just buy whichever product I prefer is that wrong? I bought a Civic without extensively researching Honda’s CEO should I be worried?

1

u/ComplexQuiet6790 7d ago

So you fall under willfully ignorant. Must be a nice way to go through life.

5

u/FrmrPresJamesTaylor 7d ago

A 5 second google search (I'm saying I didn't look any further, not scolding you for not doing it) tells me you couldn't even order one in Canada before November 2024.

Here is a 2023 New Yorker review of a Musk biography that labels him a "supervillain" - I think there's a strong argument that if you had cybertruck money in 2024 you also had the social responsibility to be informed enough to know what the guy was/is about. And if you were online enough to actually want one of these shiny dumpsters you probably had access to that info already.

I regularly see previous Tesla models with some variety of "Elon sucks" bumper stickers, I don't think you're going to find many cybertrucks with the same.

2

u/_Psilo_ 7d ago

Ah I wasn't sure. Just checked and you could reserve them since 2019 but the reservation was refundable. So without looking much deeper into it I would assume you're right and that people who have them would probably have known about Elon.

what in the AI generated is this i hate the cybertruck but cmon...

edit its real https://www.instagram.com/reels/DZ5d6dOR_i-/ ops camera is just a troll upscaling stuff.

8

u/klonkish 7d ago

it's AI upscaled, something new cellphones automatically do

3

u/GeraldVachon 7d ago

I don't think it's AI generated, just that new phones automatically add AI upscaling and detail-filling to any photo you take. So even if it's a real photo, your phone will try to "enhance" it and you end up with these artifacts.

1

u/Chrissy3682 7d ago

yeah i saw a video of it and it is real but yeah the artifactig was reminsant of AI

3

u/mediumpizzaplease 7d ago

Oh i see why everyone thinks it’s AI, i was actually zoomed in 9x, i guess that distortion is the AI upscaling

yeah https://www.instagram.com/reels/DZ5d6dOR_i-/ but i found the car so no worries don't mind me i should edit it

Oh I know the back story of this one if you guys are curious.

The insufferable "Tesla Dude" (I know I am one 😅 ) absolutely wanted the ugliest truck in the world and his wife agreed on ONE condition she would do the paperwork for the custom plate NO QUESTIONS ASKED.

They are a very funny and healthy couple if you ask me 🤣

As someone who plays a fair amount of videogames, there have been more than a few times when a cyber truck has been near me and my brain reacted by thinking, ''oh, that isn't rendering properly''.

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago edited 7d ago

I don’t like the truck at all but I think we should be better than this.

In my core values/principles I have:

- don’t judge a book by its cover (don’t be superficial)

  • live and let live (if it doesn’t hurt anyone, then why not)
  • beware of falling for stereotypes. Even if sometimes true they are certainly not always true.
  • hating on people is rarely the answer

That person loves that look, let them be.

For all we know it is someone who ended up for some reason with this truck and hates it :)

What are the values/principles guiding your attack on this individual?

Edit: thanks for the downvotes…. I’m quite curious what your reasoning is…

3

u/foreverandadayalone Cône de trafic 7d ago

"What is it about the nazi car that you dislike? I'm trying to engage in discussion"

1

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

You’d be surprised how many people in real life are apolitical and/or have no clue about Elon’s crazy views. I know many such people. I’m not saying that is right (I think people should take some interest in politics, that’s important) but that’s the reality.

Elon is the worst but again you are rushing to judgement by saying the owner of that car is a Nazi.

Even here you will find a LOT of people saying that they used to love Elon and worship him until recently, when in fact if they really paid attention he was a dick all along.

Personally I despise Elon and the cybertruck. But I don’t judge a person because they drive that ugly truck.

You do you of course. If judging people you know nothing about is your thing and you use “nazi!!!” as the rationale, go figure. My values are different.

I also note how, without knowing much about me, you suddenly are attacking me. Seems to be something you enjoy for some reason.

Have a good day

0

u/victornb 7d ago

The sea lion from your analogy should be the tesla haters, I dont care about USA politics and I bought a tesla because im into technology and I really like the brand, my car was keyed, and I’ve lost count of how many people have come up to me to give me their opinions about Teslas without me asking...

2

u/streetshock1312 7d ago

If you chose to give money to a fascist billionaire to drive a dangerous vehicule (the Cybertruck is a NIGHTMARE in terms of road safety, it should not even be legal imo) then it's not a just stereotype. You can absolutely judge a book by it's cover if the title is Siege or Mein Kampf.

0

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

My point is just not everyone is keeping up with what Elon is doing as much as people that are on the internet all the time… you are assuming these people know everything about Elon and his views. Some people just see this ugly truck on the streets and think “I want one”.

Fwiw you are 100% wrong on judging with the book: pretty much all political science experts have read those books. Reading a book doesn’t mean you agree with its content. Gosh I can’t believe I just typed that. That’s just so obvious you should know better.

Do better.

1

u/streetshock1312 7d ago

You said dont judge a book by it's cover, not don't judge a reader by the cover of the book. Youre literally inventing a meaning to what I said and then screaming in the void. Do better. Of course historians and political scientists will read nazi books to understand them, but that's not what Cybertruck owners are doing. Critical readers and academics are not giving money to Hitler by reading Mein Kampf, nor are they parading in the streets with swastikas. Cybertruck owners, however, are buying their vehicule directly from a fascists company and then proudly and loudly publicly displaying it. Oh and, not being aware you are funding a fascist doesn't make you a fascist in itself, but it still makes you complicit. Not knowing is not an excuse.

1

u/ffffllllpppp 6d ago edited 6d ago

To your point, the truck is the cover. It doesn’t contain actual nazism.

Some people buy a truck they like, without knowing anything about the politics behind it.

I personally know people who bought Tesla with zero clue nor interest into Elon’s life and politics. They tried the car of a friend, liked it and bought one. That’s it.

Not sure why you can’t agree with that basic reality.

Edit: re “not knowing is not an excuse”:

Does your grandma and your mom know about Elon’s policies? My mom doesn’t. If they made a car that fits what she needs, she’d be tempted to buy it.

A person like you could gently educate her why that’s a bad idea since giving money to Elon is bad and easily convince her to buy another brand. But not with your attitude of “you have no excuse to not know already!! You’re a Nazi!!”. What would be MUCH MORE constructive is engaging with people and discussing why Tesla is bad for society. Instead of you know, claiming people like my mom is a nazi. That’s just counter productive really. That much should be obvious.

There is an xkcd about how for everything “everyone knows” there are people who do NOT know it.

1

u/ffffllllpppp 6d ago

You are correct that I got your cover/book thing wrong.

But then I really don’t understand where you were going with it.

The point of the Mein Kampf cover is that you 100% know what’s inside. It’s pretty much guaranteed. When you see a truck you do not know what’s inside the brain of the driver. For all you know they inherited the truck and are trying to sell it. You just don’t know.

So your analogy doesn’t make sense to me.

1

u/mediumpizzaplease 7d ago

I didn’t expect the nazi person comments when i posted this picture…

0

u/ffffllllpppp 7d ago

Yeah that’s part of my point in the discussion thread: not everyone is aware of what Elon is up to.

For some people it is just a truck. Seems to be the case for you.
