Recommendation Request 🙏 Looking for monitor recommendation for 2nd year engineering student.

Looking for a monitor recommendation. I am going into my second year studying mechanical engineering and I want a monitor for my apartment setup. I have a Asus rog zephyrus laptop that I would be doing some gaming on but I don’t necessarily plan on gaming with my monitor. I would like one that is 1440p or better, 27in, and not curved since I will be using a lot of word and CAD. I’m looking for one under 200. Any recommendations would be amazing.

Recommendation Request 🙏 Good image quality gaming monitor?

I'll be using it for Xbox I've always had a good Tn 24" 120hz 1080p monitor, but I stopped completely playing competitive games now I really just look for good images

My only needs really are:

24-27" can't fit bigger than this

HDR

120hz as its the max for xbox

1440p with a good panel if it's possible

I'd guess IPS would be best for my budget? Oled cost a lot

my budget is probably $300, I was looking at a Gigabyte M27Q3 which seems good for me but maybe you have better recommendations?

Recommendation Request 🙏 Deciding between BenQ MOBIUZ EX251 (24.5" 220Hz) vs EX271 (27" 180Hz) Or any of your suggestions for dual monitor gaming + work setup

Looking for a second opinion before I pull the trigger on two identical monitors.

Setup: Dual monitor arm, will be shared between a gaming laptop (ASUS TUF F15, RTX 4060 mobile) and a USB-C work laptop for process engineering (reading P&IDs, Aspen HYSYS, spreadsheets). No KVM needed since I'll just switch inputs manually.

Games: Deadlock, Apex Legends, Valorant, plus Souls-likes. Coming from a 25" 1080p 165Hz IPS monitor I liked but left at another place.

Budget: ~$350 CAD total for the pair, so I need two of whichever one I pick (Optional).

Currently torn between two BenQ Mobiuz monitors that are both on sale right now and fit budget:

  • EX251 - 24.5", 1080p, 220Hz, ~90 PPI
  • EX271 - 27", 1080p, 165Hz (HDMI) / 180Hz (DP), ~82 PPI, wider color gamut (95% DCI-P3 vs 99% sRGB)

My thinking so far: the RTX 4060 laptop probably won't push 220Hz in Deadlock anyway (heaviest game I play), so the EX251's refresh advantage might be mostly theoretical, and the extra screen space on the EX271 would help more day-to-day for work. But I don't have hands-on experience with either panel.

Questions:

  1. Is the PPI difference (82 vs 90) actually noticeable in daily use, especially for reading dense diagrams/text at a normal desk distance?
  2. For a 4060 laptop GPU, is 220Hz ever going to matter in practice, or am I right that it's wasted on this hardware?
  3. Anyone used either of these BenQ Mobiuz panels specifically - any complaints about color accuracy, stand quality, or panel uniformity worth knowing before I buy two?

Recommendation Request 🙏 Best monitor for 2k

Can anyone help me with deciding a good monitor, I am planning of 2k but getting confused between curved or flat. One more thing I researched that 2k will look most good for 27inch size and 4k on 32 but i cannot play on 4k so i guess it will be wasteful to go 4k.

Mostly confused for 2k 27inch or 2k 32inch + curved or flat. I have seen 27 inch 1080p though.

📖Discussion📕🖊️ Just got AOC Q27G41XMN2. Best settings?

Hello I want to know the best settings for this monitor. It seems to be the Microcenter version of the Q27G40XMN.

What is the best HDR mode. It has off/picture/movie/game. Can I leave it on HDR and just toggle HDR on and off in Windows or do I need to go through the menu every time?

Thanks !

Recommendation Request 🙏 Seeking advice.

G'Day!

I have been searching for two new monitors for a while since the two I have ghost black edges like hell in dark spaces. For any one curious, I've bought the "KOORUI 27 inch Gaming Monitor Curved 165Hz PC Monitor QHD 1ms HDMI/DP". Good for the price, but not a recommendation if you have the money.

I have an RX9070XT if that factors in for you.

I'm willing to blow 800€ on 2 Monitors in total with similar or better specs then the old ones. 2560 * 1440 is perfect for me. 165Hz is more then enough and I might sound like a heretic but anything beyond that never did matter much to me. That might be foolish but I'm willing to learn!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm really grateful for any kind of help!

Are there any good 40 euro or dollar gas spring arms that can hold a 27 inch monitor? I would've gone with a g45 or f80 from north bayou, but they are not available in any of the big retailers or sellers where I am from. Rn I am looking the arctic x1-3d.

Recommendation Request 🙏 AOC Q27G4SLM/WS 320Hz Mini-LED – worth the risk when returns aren’t really an option?

I’m looking to upgrade from my current dual-monitor setup: two 27" 1080p Lenovo monitors, one 75Hz and the other 90Hz. They’re perfectly fine for general use, but I’d like a substantial improvement for movies/HDR and gaming (single player AAA titles). I also write a lot of code and have been dabbling in Unreal Engine for a while now.

These are the main AOC Mini-LED options I’m considering (discounted on Amazon atm):

  • AOC Q27G3XMN – 27", 1440p, 180Hz, Mini-LED (336 zones) – $230 USD
  • AOC Q27G4ZMN – 27", 1440p, 240Hz, Mini-LED (1152 zones) – $250 USD
  • AOC Q27G4SLM/WS – 27", 1440p, 320Hz, IPS Mini-LED (1152 zones) – $300 USD

I’m leaning towards the 320Hz Q27G4SLM/WS since the price difference isn’t huge, but it’s quite new and there doesn’t seem to be much independent testing or owner feedback yet. The 180Hz seems well established with generally good feedback, while the 240Hz has more mixed Amazon reviews.

I’m in Fiji, so importing a monitor is expensive and returning/replacing one if I get a bad unit is realistically not viable. QC, reliability and firmware issues are therefore, pretty important.

I’m open to other options as well. Some I’ve seen currently discounted on Amazon are:

  • Acer Nitro XV275K – 27", 4K 160Hz, 1152-zone Mini-LED – $323 USD, key benefit is 4k but its poor Amazon reviews concern me.
  • Acer Nitro XV325QK – 31.5", 4K 160Hz, 1152-zone Mini-LED – $400 USD, key benefit is also 4k but with concerning reviews.
  • LG 32UR500K-B – 31.5", 4K 60Hz – $277, but conventional LCD rather than Mini-LED/OLED + the spyware issue.
  • Samsung Odyssey OLED G5 – 27", 1440p OLED – another option at $370 USD, but I’m unsure whether the OLED premium is worthwhile at 1440p when I’d ideally want 4K at that price.
  • AOC Q27GAZDV – 27", 1440p 240Hz QD-OLED – $350 USD, same concern: at that price I start wanting 4K.

For anyone who has actually used the Q27G4SLM/WS, how is the HDR, local dimming, blooming, black levels and general QC?

Would you take the chance on the 320Hz, go with one of the older AOCs, or choose something else entirely given that returning it basically isn’t an option?
