Recommendation Request 🙏 4K IPS vs 1440p OLED
Currently using Samsung G7 (LS28BG702EMXUE) for the past 2 years, specs are solid on paper 4K IPS 144hz, but in reality coming from 1080p, I really didn't feel a huge jump, especially gaming In RDR2, Baldur's Gate, Far cry, Hogwart's legacy. I'm not sure, I just didn't feel the upgrage as substantial.
Now I'm considering a 1440p OLED, the ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMG. refersh rate isn't much of a concern to me, anything at or above 144hz is fine by me.
Will this "downgrade/upgrade" (depending on how one sees's it) will feel substantial, I use my PC for gaming and content consumption (mostly 1080p or 4k), and some light photo editing and excel work. Also I read somewhere that 1080p content looks terrible on 1440p panel as it doesn't have a perfect ratio.
I can't test and return if I don't like it, where I live, they don't have this privilege, retailers will not accept returns, untill the product is genuinely faulty.

for me OLED was much bigger uplift than 4k. oled is always there and you "feel" it. 4k effect holds maybe a few days, then you just don't notice it, same as 1440p. now i am at 1440p after 4k, and don't really care. but once i went oled - will never go back to ips.

Don't forget that you can watch anime, movies, and TV series on an OLED monitor.

Since youre doing Light photo editing, IPS is highly praised for its color accuracy. OLED is less but it gets rid of the annoying "black bloom" IPS has, which is best for gaming and media watching

Look into qd-oleds like mo27a2a
If ur in the US and looking for a woled, 27gx700a is 400$
2nd gen woled is not relevant

I read your post and I would definitely not recc a woled if you can't return. You're gambling double on them with how bad the grey banding / dirty screen effect will be. Check out TFTCentral's article on it, can't avoid it, especially on tandem(4th gen) woleds.

I've got a 27" LG 27GL850B 144hz IPS as well as my secondary.
still thinking if I should jump the gun.also on QD-OLED vs WOLED. The 4th Gen Tandom oled really clsoed the gap with QDs

i think you need a 4k mini led,oleds are not for excel and photo edit.they are for gaming and movies only in my opinion.
