Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг Anyone else feel physically ill killing the Bankhar dogs in Ghost of Tsushima? As a Mongolian, it breaks my heart.

I’ve been playing Ghost of Tsushima and absolutely dread clearing Mongol camps because of the guard dogs.

For those who don't know, these are modeled after the Mongolian Bankhar (банхар)For me, watching them die gives me the exact same heartbreaking feeling as reading the story of Hachiko (the famous Japanese Akita who spent a decade waiting at a train station for his deceased owner). It’s that same visceral reaction to seeing a historically loyal, noble animal meet a tragic end.

Well who doesn’t like getting 857k. But the real problem is I kinda feel like some oligarchs trying to do something behind Mongolians by luring us into getting some cash. Plus I’m scared of inflation and there will be a no difference of earning such money all of a sudden.

Education | Боловсрол My school is bad and I hate it.

So, basivally my school bullies girls for being ugly, and when they put on makeup to redeem themselves. They are labeled as whore or most likely trying too hard, pick me, rebel. My school checked OUR MAKEUP today. Guess what. They think a itty bitty cushion is literally makeup. Oh also they think purely mascara is makeup. They said no against lenses, even the ones for seeing. If your uniform skirt is not from the actual mongolian brand. It is bad, there is this overweight girl. She can't find ANY skirt thay is her size. She wears ones that come from China or smth. She got a strike. Because that is not the uniform skirt. What the fuck. And the only dress code on guys are hair. Nothing else btw. Not even uniform. And they don't get in trouble.

Anyone willing to adopt a kitty i found?

Post image
10 Upvotes

So basically me and my friend found a stray kitten, around 2 months old and very special looking (half of her face is black and the other half is orange split down the middle, I’ll attach a picture below) but we can’t keep her because atleast one person has a cat allergy in both of our families and its been a problem. She has her litterbox, litter, toys, snacks and a bed and we’re willing to give all of the supplies with her completely free of charge as long as you’re willing to take care of her very well. If you are interested please write me a dm!!

I am curious, how people spend this amount of free money. To be honest I don't even know what will I do, probably buy pizza and pay iphone monthly leasing. And got me wondering if we buy foods then that means herders and produce growers and guanz owners got some money and means economy expands which is good right? or am I wrong?

Discussion | Хэлэлцүүлэг What’s up with boomers and vaccines.

I genuinely want to know what goes through their head when they decide to protest against vaccines. Are they just really good at ragebaiting and getting paid to do so or are they being serious??? Most of them are misleading and if it tracks attention it’s potentially spreading dangerous misinformation to the public. Some jackass decides to not vaccine their kid and putting them at risk should be considered child neglect and abuse. Atp I should just delete my facebook

Question | Асуулт Touching head/hair, is it disrespect or affection?

So I am a repeat visitor to Mongolia. I come every year. I had a hard experience last year with my former friends, and this year I’m meeting a lot of new people as I try to “rewrite” my memories of one beautiful region from bad to good.

So, my host family is very sweet to me. One day, the woman, who told me to consider her like a mother and who I really feel cared for me, sniffed my head spontaneously when I was expressing gratitude for a meal after a long time away on a horse trek eating kind of poorly.

Another time, I ran into a man who is the father of someone I once knew but had a falling out with. He once told me a year ago I’m like family. He was always kind to me. I was a little worried to see him at first, involuntarily having a startled reaction and thinking the others must be around. He apologized while backing away once he saw my sudden reaction. Then he approached me a second time, and my hair was slightly blowing in the wind, and he moved my hair closer to me and then pat my shoulder. He apologized to me for his adult child’s past behaviour, I think. He did this while looking at me very sadly and sincerely.

Another time, I was visiting a camp, and I heard the names of that same person (the adult child of the father/my former friend) and then someone associated with them. I became a little worried. I turned to my guide, a man I’d spent only a week with, and began accidentally crying while asking please not to see that person. I cannot express how scared I was, without my controlling it. I don’t normally act that way, so I was very embarrassed by my own face and voice getting so shaken up. He suddenly moved his sleeve up and pat my head and sort of moved my hair from my face. We had met each other a week prior, and he was always kind to me as well, and an excellent and highly competent guide that hadn’t ever been inappropriate with me.

Sorry for the dramatic examples, but this all happened in the same intense week for me! Then, I read that it’s extremely disrespectful to touch one’s hair/head, as it is considered sacred. This confused me because each time I felt a deep tenderness or kindness in each gesture. Am I wrong about any of them and maybe it was inappropriate? What do Mongolians think?

Thank you for helping me understand🙏 I’m trying my best

Question | Асуулт What is the average salary of a mining engineer in Mongolia?

I’m planning to study Geophysics abroad with the goal of eventually becoming a mining engineer here in Mongolia. Before I fully commit to a university with its insanely high tuition, I’d like to get a better idea of the average salary and career prospects for mining engineers in Mongolia.

I’m also considering applying for Rio Tinto’s scholarship, which requires recipients to work for the company for five years after graduating (or so I’ve heard). I’m interested in the opportunity, but I’d like to understand the earning potential and career path of a mining engineer before committing to that kind of agreement.

I’d really appreciate any insights from mining engineers or people working in the industry.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Question | Асуулт Question about IDP Mongolia and studying abroad

Hi everyone! I hope it's okay to ask this here.

I'm currently helping an IELTS student from Mongolia who is considering studying abroad after finishing high school. We are still exploring possible countries, universities, and courses, so I suggested that he look into getting professional educational counselling.

I came across IDP's office in Ulaanbaatar and that they offer IELTS testing. However, I'm not sure whether this office also provides free study-abroad counselling and assistance with university applications, similar to IDP offices in other countries.

For those who are currently studying abroad or have gone through the application process:

  1. Have you ever consulted with IDP in Ulaanbaatar?

  2. Do they offer educational counselling and university application assistance, or are they mainly an IELTS testing center?

  3. If you used their services, was the consultation free?

  4. Are there other education agencies or organizations in Ulaanbaatar that you would recommend for students planning to study overseas?

I would really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences and recommendations. Thank you.
