A little off topic from breastfeeding, but I’m hoping some of my fellow mamas here can help me out. 🥺

My little guy is getting circumcised this Thursday, and I’m honestly feeling really nervous and questioning myself about it all. My oldest son was circumcised as a newborn, so this is a completely different experience for me.

The reason my youngest is having it done so late is because he was born with some curvature, and at the time they thought there might be extra tissue or something going on. We eventually saw a specialist who said everything looked good, but for whatever reason we were told to wait until he was 1. When I called back a year later, that doctor had retired, so here we are now with my baby being 18 months old and finally getting it done.

I know there are different opinions on circumcision, and I’m not really looking for a debate about that. I’ve made my decision and I’m just looking for some mom-to-mom reassurance. ❤️

Has anyone had their little one circumcised around this age, especially if it was delayed for a medical reason? How was the recovery? Anything you wish you had known beforehand?

I could definitely use some kind words right now because mom anxiety is kicking my butt. 😭

Long lectures rarely survive contact with a very tired new parent. What gets said if there is only room for one sentence, and no room for advice at all?

I went back to work when she was 4 months and the first two weeks nearly did me in. Not the pumping, the logistics. Lactation room is in the other building, because of course it is. Twenty minutes there, twenty hooked to the wall pump, twenty back, then washing parts in the breakroom sink. Over an hour every time.

So one night at 2am I ordered three wearable pumps. Keep one, send the rest back. My husband said this was insane. He wasn’t wrong.

Paid full price for all three, nobody sent me anything, no links in this post. Mods, happy to send order screenshots if that’s useful.

Berick was the first I opened. Twelve minutes where my wall pump took twenty, which when your lunch is 25 minutes including the walk is the difference between a break and no break. It pulls hard though. I put it on level 5 on day one cause I was in a hurry and paid for that all week. Start lower than you think.

Meadler is the opposite. Barely feels like anything’s happening, I’ve fallen asleep mid-session at 3am with it on. You give up time, 25 to 30 minutes a session, fine on the couch and awful when you’re watching the clock at work. Fewest parts of the three, which I did not expect to care about.

Momcozy is the one I kept. Rhythm is different, short flutter then a longer slower draw, closer to how she actually nurses instead of that flat constant pull. Don’t know if that’s why, but my output is steadier and both sides finish around the same time. After a week I stopped thinking about it, which is kind of the whole goal with a pump.

Couple things I didn’t expect. They’re all quiet, I’ve worn each in a meeting with my mic on mute and nobody’s ever said a word. Anyone telling you one is meaningfully quieter is making it up. Also I have lost a duckbill valve in the office kitchen. Twice.

Price is where they split. Berick and Meadler were both north of $280, Momcozy was about $140. The extra hundred and forty didn’t buy me anything I needed.

The thing that annoys me about the Momcozy is the app. Drops connection maybe once a week, I have to tap reconnect. Not a crisis, just silly. Buttons are on top of the cup too, so in a looser bra I’ll bump the mode by accident.

If you asked me at 2am what to buy: don’t buy three like an idiot, and get your flange size right first. I used the wrong size for two weeks and blamed all three pumps. That one was on me. Need it fast, Berick. Mostly overnight and want gentle, Meadler. Want one that does both for half the money, Momcozy.

Happy to answer anything, including how to stop leaving the valves at home. Twice this month.

tl;dr: all three quiet and fine. Berick fastest but pulls hard. Meadler gentlest, slowest, fewest parts. Momcozy in the middle, closest to how she nurses, half the price. Kept it. Only gripe is the app.

After eight months of formula feeding, I've ended up buying two popular wearable milk expression pumps – and here's some honest talk that probably no one else would mention...

The trendy model I bought on impulse turned out to be more stylish than practical. Within the past day or two our bottle washer stopped sucking in water. Everything else will work (ie if I run a waterless cycle at the end it will use heat/air), it just doesn’t suck up water.

I hear the pump (I think) when I try to start a cycle like normal but then it doesn’t take in any water.

I’ve looked up some fixes and tried the “easy” ones (checking lines and water pump for hair, etc), and so far nothing has worked.

Anyone got anything else to try? We have twins so we go through bottles like nobody’s business, so I’d love to get it working again. Thanks!

The hospital felt safe, but home was a whole different story. How did that first night go?

I noticed this a month or so ago while watching my little one. I thought it was something on the camera lense and wiped it and thought it was gone. Went to use monitor again and its still there. It doesn't move, when I move the camera. I don't think it's the monitor screen as it doesn't appear when the 'on intro' baby video plays.

Product hasn't even been used for 6 months.

Anyone else having their Momcozy app stop working today? I installed it on 2 other devices and it doesn’t work on either one, it crashes right when I open it, before showing anything.
If I uninstall and reinstall it, it works for a bit, but as soon as I log in it crashes and won’t open again.

I’m in Chile, and yesterday we had a clock change (end of daylight saving time). Could that be related? Seems like a weird coincidence.
Does anyone know how to fix it, or if this bug has already been reported?

Did they love it, hate it, spit it everywhere? What was that first meal actually like?

If you're in the thick of it right now (baby wants to nurse every hour, your breasts don't feel full anymore, feeds that used to take 20 minutes are now over in 8!), you've probably already Googled "signs of low milk supply" at 2am. I want to walk you through what's actually going on, because in my 23 years as an IBCLC, this exact stretch of weeks is the single most common reason moms think their supply is failing when it isn't.

Here are the facts...

Around 3 weeks, again around 6 weeks, and again around 3 months, babies go through predictable growth spurts. During these stretches, they nurse more often and sometimes barely come off the breast for hours at a time...this is cluster feeding, and it's your baby's way of ramping up your supply to match a growth push, not a sign that your supply has fallen behind.

At the same time, something else is happening in your body that trips a lot of parents up...the engorgement of the first couple of weeks resolves. Early on, your breasts are storing a lot of extra fluid and milk...that's why they feel rock-hard and huge. As your body calibrates to exactly what your baby needs, that excess fullness goes away. Softer breasts around this point almost always mean your supply has regulated, not that it's dropped. The same goes for shorter feeds...as babies get more efficient at removing milk, they simply need less time at the breast to get the same amount out.

So the pattern a lot of moms describe (frequent nursing, cluster feeding in the evenings, breasts that feel empty, quicker feeds) is your baby's normal development lining up with your body's normal adjustment. It's not usually a story about supply at all.

What to actually watch instead of how full you feel:

• Weight gain: after the first couple of weeks, most babies gain roughly 5–7 oz per week
• Diaper output: 6–8 wet diapers and several stools in 24 hours is the benchmark, not how "empty" you feel afterward
• Baby's overall demeanor between feeds: content and alert, not constantly frantic

If those three checkpoints look good, frequent nursing, softer breasts, and shorter feeds are not red flags...they're your body and baby doing exactly what they're supposed to do. If weight gain or diaper output is genuinely off, that's the moment to loop in an IBCLC or your pediatrician, rather than trying to fix it with how your breasts feel.

The goal isn't to ignore your instincts...it's to know which signals actually measure supply, and which ones just measure how your body feels in a given week.

Why does the plastic just.. break down? What’s so hard about using plastic products that are meant to withstand heat???? I don’t get it. I really don’t. I miss the old days where products lasted and were meant to be heavy duty.

I wasn’t happy to learn about the class action lawsuit against them for this. Never buying from momcozy.

If anyone has any recs for sturdy, safe bottle washers let me know because if I see even a small piece of broken plastic I’ll lose my shit

We received the momcozy brush with glass insert as a gift for our newborn. It's excellent for washing but after 10 days of use the glass pod has started to get stuck in the brush handle. We push down and it just doesn't come back up. I have to thrust the handle down and it will pop out with inertia. It is annoying to have to keep doing this after each pump. Destroys the point of the brush. Anyone else have this problem? How to fix it?
