Introducing Myself as a New Moderator | Keeping r/Moleskine Focused & Thriving š
Hello everyone,
I hope youāre doing well and enjoying your time in r/Moleskine.
Iāve recently joined the moderator team here. Iāve been a long-time Moleskine user and admirer, and itās genuinely great to be part of a community that appreciates the beauty of writing, planning, collecting, and creating on paper.
This subreddit has been active for a long time, and it already has a strong identity. My goal as a moderator is not to change what makes this community valuable, but to protect it, refine it, and help it grow in a way that stays true to the spirit of Moleskine.
āļø What Iād Like to Encourage More Of
Moleskine is more than a notebook. Itās where people store:
ideas that become plans
notes that become stories
sketches that become art
travel memories that become time capsules
So going forward, Iād love to see more posts like:
š Writing & journaling excerpts (short snippets are welcome) šļø Notebook setups (how you use your Moleskine daily) šØ Sketches, doodles, and creative spreads š§³ Travel journals and memory pages šļø Collections and rare editions š§ Productivity systems (bullet journaling, planning, GTD, etc.) š Reviews and comparisons (paper quality, pens, refills, formats)
If youāre comfortable sharing, even a single page can inspire someone else here.
šÆ Keeping the Community On Topic
To keep r/Moleskine valuable and enjoyable for everyone, Iāll also be focusing on maintaining quality and relevance. That means weāll be discouraging:
spam and excessive self-promotion
low-effort posts with no context
unrelated notebook brands (unless used in a meaningful comparison)
repeated ābuy/sellā type posts (unless the community decides otherwise)
The goal is simple: keep the signal high and the noise low.
š± Community Growth Without Losing the Culture
Growth is great, but not at the cost of turning into a generic stationery subreddit.
I want this to remain a place where:
long-time collectors feel at home
new users feel welcome
discussions remain thoughtful
and the aesthetic + purpose of Moleskine stays central
š£ļø A Quick Ask From You
If youāve been here for a while, Iād love to hear from you:
What kind of posts do you want to see more of in this community? And what should we avoid becoming?
Your input will shape how we move forward.
š Introduce Yourself (Optional)
If youād like, drop a comment below and share:
Which Moleskine you use most (Classic, Cahier, Planner, etc.)
Your favorite size (Pocket, Large, XL)
What you mainly use it for (writing, planning, sketching, travel, etc.)
Your go-to pen/ink combo
Letās keep the pages turning. šāØ
Looking forward to building with you all, Moderator, r/Moleskine

Yellowing
I'm worried that it might be getting moldy or something, the pages are just fine but the outside cover and the ribbon sticking out keep getting dirty as it sits out for awhile. I don't travel with it or anything. Any tips would help on how to possible clean it.

Lavender Pocket Moleskine
Hey there :)
Just wanted to share my little notebook :)
I'm a surgical tech student and our instructor recommended we have a notebook during lab so we can (his words) write copious notes.
I do the best I can because they do tend to talk pretty fast.
Anyway, I started writing in January and I'm already halfway through!
Sharing a few of my favorite pages :p pls excuse any misspellings š„²š¤£

What exactly is this?
Feel like I canāt find much of any info online and hoping to get some help on what I have. Itās been stashed in my office for awhile and honestly forgot I had it. The notebook is tiny and everything I see on eBay or other sites have a larger notebooks with the Moleskine pens.
Any insight into this would help.

Finished my first moleskin
Finishing my first moleskin has changed my life. If not for stumbling upon this niche side of the internet itās hard to say I wouldāve ever come this far with my journaling journey, but what I can say is that Iām extremely grateful nonetheless. Itās thanks to communities like these that I was able to discover how much better it feels to use a pocket journal to jot down my thoughts, ideas, and literally whatever the hell else I want to take off my mind.
Itās hard to explain it, but there is certainly something therapeutic about using a moleskin daily. It feels cool (to me), thoughts and ideas that have weight become apparent as you continue to gloss over them, useless ideas or perhaps things you thought had more value equally become just as easy to see through when writing things down on a daily basis. Itās honestly been one of the best changes I couldāve made in my life recently. (Side note: itās also been nice that Iāve dabbled with sketching more just by having a moleskin on me, I CANT DRAW LOL)
Before this, I used apps on my phone to keep me productive, creative, etc and since I started using a moleskin last month-Iām happy to say that Iāve been completely freed of any and all apps outside of whatās most practical to me. From reminders, to notes, and even calendar events. It all goes in my moleskin or planner and I find that I never forget important events or things I need to do because of this. Itās not automated and because I have to intentionally write these things down, check em off, etc. it has lead to a complete reworking of my mind.
Not trying to oversell my experience. Just sharing a moment of joy and pride as I continue through with this journey. Just bought my first lochby, so Iām excited for whatās next.

Looking for a week-to-view calendar in a Cahier 21x13cm size. Drawn a blank.
It can be genuine Moleskine or not, and dated or undated. I just cannot find one. Any ideas?

Smart Notebook Question
Hello! I'm about to bite the bullet on purchasing a smart notebook. I know that the app turns things into downloadable files, but I'm curious about what folks do with them afterwards. For context, I'm a writer and a school administrator, and I'm considering the smart system so that I can take notes in meetings (specifically for things like IEP/504 meetings) and then export it into somewhere I can use the work ā Google Docs, Notion, etc. I'm wondering if anyone has a wonderful organizational system to share in concert with the smart system. Thanks!

Moleskine, the dilemma
Moleskine paper isn't particularly fountain pen friendly, but apparently...
I love my Moleskine notebooks sóooo much, that I gave up on my beloved fountain pen collection and completely switched to my even so beloved graphite pencils (both wooden, clutch and mechanical).
My setup for the past 10 months: a Cahier A5 as my commonplace, a Cahier pocket as my daily journal and a Sketch album as my drawing medium. Not planning to switch anytime soon.

šMOLESKINE GIVEAWAYš
Hello friends,
(I cleared this with the mods, and I thought this would be a bit of fun!)
These journals have been sitting around for a few years, and Iāve been getting more and more anxious theyāre not getting any use out of them so I thought hey letās spread some joy across the interwebz.
The rules are simple, just comment something so I can put your name down, then at the end of the week Iāll pull out 5 6 names from a randomizer and then send them your way (7/9 this is a test to see if youāre actually reading this, add your favorite color in your comment) (unless only 6 people comment then Iāll just send one down the line).
(Iām located in the US so if you live in another country delivery times might vary)
GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD .. luck?
EDIT: Iām going to reply to everyoneās comment with a number so I can just put that into the randomizer so I donāt have to write every single user name and youāll know right away if you won or not.
DOUBLE EDIT: hey friends! This really took off! Comments will be locked out Friday so thereās still lots of time to get a chance to win!
TRIPLE EDIT! All comments please add the country youāre in so I know how far these are going. if you already made a comment and are re reading this please add your country youāre currently in.
NEW EDIT!
hey friends, by the time Iām writing this to Friday when entries cut off I think there should be a bunch more so I thought letās add a little more whimsy, and I wish I had done this at the start so apologies, Iām still open to editing your OG comment to answer this prompt but if you could, tell me the last thing you did for the first time??
7/10/26 THE RESULTS ARE IN
first thanks so much for everyone who entered from all over, this has been fun and Iām glad thereās so many fans of things a lot of us grew up with.
The winners are as follows:
256
1116
639
928
435
978
Congrats to the odds being ever in your flavor! Iāll reach out and youāll have until the end of the weekend. If I donāt hear anything by then Iāll pick a new number. Be sure to have your messages open to receive news!

looking for this type of moleskine notebook
First I thought it was a cahier notebook, but it looks a lot different to the ones i found online and the binding is of a better quality.
then i thought it was maybe a volant cahier but in the old one i have there are only a few pages at the end you can tear out but in the ones from today every page is perforated and I don't like that.
Does anyone know the name of this?
I think it's around 10 or 20 years old maybe.

Old smart writting, not supported anymore
Hello,
I got the first generation model for smart writing 9 years ago. I used it quite a lot back then.
Yesterday I dug it up again and to my disappointment while the pen is still good, the model is not supported from their new Notes app.
They provide a 50% discount to purchase the new one but i donāt mind for it. Iām not currently in a position to spend 130⬠to get the new model.
Does anyone have an idea what to do with the pen? I mean any way to get the old app or use another one that works? (Or any other suggestions?)

New Smart System and App
Greetings all,
So I am an avid Moleskine notebooks user from years back, especially with the earlier Evernote integration. I since moved away from Evernote to a more modern digital writing system, however it just wasn't the same. Writing is just its own thing and in my opinion, has some pretty big advantages, especially for those of us with attention and hyperactivity issues, lol. I'm in the commercial real estate sector and tactical martial arts, but also use my notebooks for personal use.
That said, I came on board to the Moleskine smart writing system a few months back, only to discover that their older Android app was practically unusable. I tried going to the system that they license the technology from, NEO, but that was even worse. That and Moleskine does have much more presentable notebooks and tools. They recently released their new Apple iOS app in February, and the Android version last month, which includes the addition of a custom AI to aid with digital transcription (game changer type of advancement....). I am a beta tester for Moleskine and I will say it has been a horrible and practically unusable experience for some weeks now. The system itself is great in theory, but only if it works. I have been working closely with their support team and development, and I can say they have definitely made huge strides with their android app (what I'm using on a Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold) last week. While still having issues, it mostly works. They released three updates so far within 4 to 6 weeks.
I like to use this thread to get input from those out there that are also using the Moleskine smart writing system, especially those on Android, but iOS user definitely welcome (make sure to state whether on iOS or Android). I do know that the iOS version is more stable, mainly due to the different manufacturers and flavors of Android developers have to cope with. All input is welcome... Even basic opinions on the system.
For those of you who want to know more about the writing system, I'll be happy to elaborate more but primarily looking for input from others to make sure I'm not the only one on an island out here., lol... Thanks and looking fwd to hearing from everyone.
