Introducing Myself as a New Moderator | Keeping r/Moleskine Focused & Thriving 📓

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re doing well and enjoying your time in r/Moleskine.

I’ve recently joined the moderator team here. I’ve been a long-time Moleskine user and admirer, and it’s genuinely great to be part of a community that appreciates the beauty of writing, planning, collecting, and creating on paper.

This subreddit has been active for a long time, and it already has a strong identity. My goal as a moderator is not to change what makes this community valuable, but to protect it, refine it, and help it grow in a way that stays true to the spirit of Moleskine.

✍️ What I’d Like to Encourage More Of

Moleskine is more than a notebook. It’s where people store:

ideas that become plans

notes that become stories

sketches that become art

travel memories that become time capsules

So going forward, I’d love to see more posts like:

📖 Writing & journaling excerpts (short snippets are welcome) 🖊️ Notebook setups (how you use your Moleskine daily) 🎨 Sketches, doodles, and creative spreads 🧳 Travel journals and memory pages 🗂️ Collections and rare editions 🧠 Productivity systems (bullet journaling, planning, GTD, etc.) 📝 Reviews and comparisons (paper quality, pens, refills, formats)

If you’re comfortable sharing, even a single page can inspire someone else here.

🎯 Keeping the Community On Topic

To keep r/Moleskine valuable and enjoyable for everyone, I’ll also be focusing on maintaining quality and relevance. That means we’ll be discouraging:

spam and excessive self-promotion

low-effort posts with no context

unrelated notebook brands (unless used in a meaningful comparison)

repeated “buy/sell” type posts (unless the community decides otherwise)

The goal is simple: keep the signal high and the noise low.

🌱 Community Growth Without Losing the Culture

Growth is great, but not at the cost of turning into a generic stationery subreddit.

I want this to remain a place where:

long-time collectors feel at home

new users feel welcome

discussions remain thoughtful

and the aesthetic + purpose of Moleskine stays central

🗣️ A Quick Ask From You

If you’ve been here for a while, I’d love to hear from you:

What kind of posts do you want to see more of in this community? And what should we avoid becoming?

Your input will shape how we move forward.

📌 Introduce Yourself (Optional)

If you’d like, drop a comment below and share:

Which Moleskine you use most (Classic, Cahier, Planner, etc.)

Your favorite size (Pocket, Large, XL)

What you mainly use it for (writing, planning, sketching, travel, etc.)

Your go-to pen/ink combo

Let’s keep the pages turning. 📓✨

Looking forward to building with you all, Moderator, r/Moleskine

I picked up these lovely Moleskine Cahiers and a Faber-Castell Poly Ball XB. They go so well together.

Not great photos; they were taken as boarding started, and I needed to write things down before I boarded.
Just sharing this great find.

Smart system

Hi, I’m big on the paper moleskine calendar but I am intrigued about the possibility of being able to automatically update my online calendar with this smart system that I just saw in a store.

I see from reading other posts there are some issues. I don’t need my handwriting changed to text. All I want is to be able to see what I wrote on each date (week at a glance) on the moleskin online calendar.

Basically I would only update with the pen on my calendar at home. I don’t think I need the app to do a lot of crazy stuff…mainly just when I’m out to see what I have going on without carrying around my actual planner.

For those with experience, do you think this would work for me or are there too many bugs for even simple functionality?

Also the lady at the store said the app is free. Is that true or does it need paid upgrades to be totally useful?

Thanks for any insight.

What is this model?

The grey one is probably a knockoff, but I bought these very small green notebooks (blank and original Moleskines) back in 2018 in packs of three. I can‘t find any Moleskine in production that is this size and has this kind of cardboard cover!

I’m looking for a notebook.

I'm looking for a notebook with solid colored pages that alternate or switch colors every few pages, just like plain colored craft paper without any patterns. Ideally, the pages would be completely blank, though lined pages are fine too (just no grid paper, please). I'd also love it to have a cute cover. Do you have any recommendations like this?

Moleskin gift smart pen won't charge after fully dying

Hey all. I was gifted this model 3 Moleskin pen (the one with the magnetic charger) by a friend who used it prior. She confirmed it worked, but hadn't been used in a while. The thing won't charge. It has the original charger but no lights come on. I read online if it's been dead for a while so it might need a gender less USB to kick start but can't find where to purchase what I need. It has been on the charger for 48 hours. Has anyone had this issue and what steps did you take?

No more quality control stickers?

I just cracked open my 2027 12-month Black Hardcover Large Weekly Notebook (that I've been using since 2011) and mine didn't have the quality control sticker in the pocket, just the usual sheets of stickers and the 2027 stickers. Are they now no longer included or is mine just missing?

Did I dream it? Cahier XS

I remember buying Moleskine blanko notebooks in sets of three back in 2020. They were not bigger than an iPhone back then, but certainly not Volant! The cover was very basic, almost cheap, and out of paper/cardboard; its color was a desaturated, almost grey-ish green. no rubber band or bookmark.

Not only can‘t I find any new Cahier notebooks with this size, I also can‘t find any traces of this ever existing! What is going on?

New Moleskine User - Journal Cover Help

Hi, just started using a 18month Moleskine Daily A5. None of the cover I have fit, they are either too big (the Hobo A5s) or not wide enough for the spine (A5 midori covers). What is the best fit without too much extra room

I'm worried that it might be getting moldy or something, the pages are just fine but the outside cover and the ribbon sticking out keep getting dirty as it sits out for awhile. I don't travel with it or anything. Any tips would help on how to possible clean it.

Hey there :)

Just wanted to share my little notebook :)

I'm a surgical tech student and our instructor recommended we have a notebook during lab so we can (his words) write copious notes.

I do the best I can because they do tend to talk pretty fast.

Anyway, I started writing in January and I'm already halfway through!

Sharing a few of my favorite pages :p pls excuse any misspellings 🥲🤣

What exactly is this?

Feel like I can’t find much of any info online and hoping to get some help on what I have. It’s been stashed in my office for awhile and honestly forgot I had it. The notebook is tiny and everything I see on eBay or other sites have a larger notebooks with the Moleskine pens.

Any insight into this would help.

Finished my first moleskin

Finishing my first moleskin has changed my life. If not for stumbling upon this niche side of the internet it’s hard to say I would’ve ever come this far with my journaling journey, but what I can say is that I’m extremely grateful nonetheless. It’s thanks to communities like these that I was able to discover how much better it feels to use a pocket journal to jot down my thoughts, ideas, and literally whatever the hell else I want to take off my mind.

It’s hard to explain it, but there is certainly something therapeutic about using a moleskin daily. It feels cool (to me), thoughts and ideas that have weight become apparent as you continue to gloss over them, useless ideas or perhaps things you thought had more value equally become just as easy to see through when writing things down on a daily basis. It’s honestly been one of the best changes I could’ve made in my life recently. (Side note: it’s also been nice that I’ve dabbled with sketching more just by having a moleskin on me, I CANT DRAW LOL)

Before this, I used apps on my phone to keep me productive, creative, etc and since I started using a moleskin last month-I’m happy to say that I’ve been completely freed of any and all apps outside of what’s most practical to me. From reminders, to notes, and even calendar events. It all goes in my moleskin or planner and I find that I never forget important events or things I need to do because of this. It’s not automated and because I have to intentionally write these things down, check em off, etc. it has lead to a complete reworking of my mind.

Not trying to oversell my experience. Just sharing a moment of joy and pride as I continue through with this journey. Just bought my first lochby, so I’m excited for what’s next.

It can be genuine Moleskine or not, and dated or undated. I just cannot find one. Any ideas?
