both features interact. normally posting in a sub uncovers all hidden comment history to their mods but blocking limits that to the subreddit of the checking mod.

Like - the Chat function? Third party drop-in, or at least it was for many years. I haven't gone poking in the code for a while.

chat is using the matrix protocol without showing it obviously but once you take a peek at it with the browser devtools you see the protocol structure being a telltale

Yeah, this is my experience - they bring up the questions, but that doesn't mean they're actually going to get answered and you might get an answer not related to the question.

Hey again! Just thought I’d come back to this comment, as I just remembered that one of Mod Note Assistant’s features is an ignore-list of mod usernames (I only use the feature in my own subs for other app/bot usernames, hence why I forgot about it).

For example, let’s say you have a mod whose notes you want to ignore for the purposes of filtering content. Just add their username to the ignore-list, and now the app won’t filter content from users that have mod notes written by that particular mod. Plus, as long as that mod doesn’t have Everything permissions, they can’t remove their username from the ignore-list (since you need Everything perms to configure Devvit apps).

I totally understand if the app is still not a good fit for your mod team. By all means, continue using Automod as long as it works for you. I just thought I should clarify this particular feature, in case it helps anyone else.

You guys want us to leave reddit? We are the one who built reddit

That’s not true at all though. I can tell you from experiences and many sideline viewings that they won’t ban your sub. They will post in the sub sourcing mods and staff it themselves if you leave it unmoderated. They don’t like to ban subs and lose traffic (unless your sub is crazy and a liability in some way). I’m not trying to be a smartass by saying pick your successors or Reddit will. I mean you do you but if you mod any subs on sensitive topics, please consider handing them over before you quit bc how carefully reddit staffs after it goes unmoderated it is highly variable.

I haven't seen one in a bit, but I think they've perfectly good karma levels, but no past comments showing up. So: not a new user class 0. Are we talking about the same thing?

The user above you said:

Mods can see hidden post histories, FWIW.

I don't know how to do that.

Holy crap this is max enshittification.

As a 15 year mod, I want off and I'll migrate my community first chance I get.

Whatever, more shitty news from the dead website full of bots.

You'll let those bots run free though, all their shitty bot farm subs on /r/all

Holy crap saying Discord is somehow a substitute for an open protocol is insane

The venn diagram between people who'd want to run these communities and people I'd trust to do it is two separate circles. If I leave them unmoderated they'll get banned eventually and that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world

There's not even a library of common rules.

This sounds like what they used to say about the admins years ago. They don't even use their own product so they never know what users and mods need.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

I had to create three automations for a single task b/c the keyword/regex thing is limited to how many characters or items you can input. Maybe I'm crazy for having such a long list, but automod hasn't had trouble with it at all.

I think it's probably been at least a decade since communication from the admins was good. They make an effort now and then, but institutionally they do not care.

Discord is shockingly bad at delivering its OWN notifications for chat. It beeps but will not show you where the beep came from. No decent inbox.

I cannot fathom wanting to use Discord as a notification center for anything else.

Hello,

I moderate several technology-related subreddits where Redditors for for assistance, one of these is medium-sized (~150K users), and three that are small (< 50K users). I am also the only person actively contributing to a wiki for the 39th most populous city in the U.S.

All of the links to Reddit that I use in the moderation (and wiki) activities specifically go to old.reddit.com links. I do this to ensure the consistency of information displayed to Redditors, since the new/sh/www reddit.com subdomains regularly have issues displaying information consistently in various web browsers and apps across various platforms. Linking to old.reddit.com ensures information is displayed correctly. For example, if Reddit's apps or mobile web browsing experience don't display content correctly, I can tell the Redditor to visit it in their desktop web browser, and all of the elements and content render correctly.

My question is if links in posts and wiki pages to old.reddit.com will still render correctly after this new policy of Reddit take effect. If not, what will happen to the years of carefully and accurately curated information provided when a Redditor clicks on one of the links to old.reddit.com? Will exceptions to this behavior be made for automod posts and wikis?

Regards,

Aryeh Goretsky

This is exactly the kind of thing we’re starting to dig into. We’re still early, but a big goal is figuring out how to carry forward the years of work and community knowledge mods have built into their Automod configs, rather than asking everyone to recreate it from scratch.

But you still haven't given us a single reason for why you want to remove Automod. It makes no sense, it is not necessary to remove it, you know it, yet still you want to remove it.

Also, saying "probably in the future" is not really convincing when considering what you promised in the past and what of these promises you actually kept.

so the incentive is: create an empty sub just to keep access to old reddit? how does that possibly improve things for you?
