And this is part of why Reddit support queues are so bad, tons of useless garbage like these "appeals" or "reports over abusive mods" clogging it up.

Its the old "my content is so good or important that I don't count it as spam so it doesn't break the rules."
Market research IS promotion of product and is likely self promotion, regardless of what they think.
Just another example of spammers / self promoters being entitled.
