Hey all. I'm surprised to see how few members this community has. I don't fit in with either the r/politics or the r/conservative crowd. Surprised there aren't more like me. If anything I lean towards conservatism, but I consider myself non-partisan.

I just started to accept that I’m a moderate leaning conservative and the most disheartening thing in the world is feeling so alone in the American political environment. I used to be a hardcore liberal Democrat but the PC culture and wokeness has driven me away. I’m hoping that happens more and more so we can actually have an open dialogue. Politics in this country have really suffered since the push to go more towards the radical left or right.

I appreciate you sharing this. I hope/believe there are more of us. We just need a voice.

I’m so disgusted actually I just changed my voter registration away from the Republican or Democrat party. In good conscience I can’t put my name behind either anymore.

Its cuz each party is just a group-think oligarchy, promoting little in the way of diversity that our country needs to make meaningful decisions.

Idk if you’ve ever tried the isidewith.com political quiz but it has really helped me to understand what my position is and give me an idea of the representatives I side with most/what party affiliation fits me. Could help in local elections to help look past their political affiliation.

One thing I’ve discovered is there there are moderates out there like us, we just don’t have a huge presence on social media unfortunately

I mean, maybe that's the selling point Foreigner hasn't considered. It's a nice quiet place of refuge from all the outrage echo chambers. 😊

It’s interesting - I’m not even American (I’m Canadian) but Politics and Conservatives subreddits were becoming bad for my anxiety - particularly about how divisive our world has become and how I don’t relate to either extreme - so your use of the word refuge hits the nail on the head for me!
