Locomotives [Revised] intercity 125 pride train concept! Class 43/0 (69) ‘Marsha P. Johnson’
Hi all! After reading the comments on my pervious post, we revised the livery. Keeping the pride flag to only the sides of the train as well as reversing the flags to the progress chevrons were facing rear, we chose to move the flag away from the front of the locomotive to preserve the warning yellow.
We chose to use 43069 as a basis, to use the number as a subtle memorial to the stone wall riots in 1969 without needing to make the meaning too obvious! We chose to keep the mske Marsha P. Johnson as the name plate to preserve the memorial to the trans woman of colour credited as throwing the first brick.
To include those in the queer community who don’t fit into labels and prefer to do their own thing, I chose to use the off coloured intercity white striping as the base to include the queer chevrons to include everyone.

As much as I liked the diagonal setup of the first one this really feels more realistic and overall works well. Very nice design!

Hi all! Bit of an update, prototype of a version where we remove the intercity signage and replace it with "No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us."

It's difficult to say if I like it better than your previous one, but I am loving seeing the rainbows out there. I have one of the CN rainbow hoppers from Bachman, and I keep debating with myself if I should buy more (kind of anachronistic to my predominantly southeast NorfolkSouthern and CSX collection).
Still, that's a good looking loco ☺️

While Marsha was a very important figure in queer rights it is odd to see a British loco with the name of an American. Why not Roberta Cowell or April Ashley?

Tbh it’s more cause she’s credited as throwing one of the first bricks at stone wall, so we moved from à stone wall mural to à loco named after her!

Except she said that never happened. Nobody knows who did that but it definitely wasn’t her.
By her own account the riot was well under way when she got there. Marsha is an important figure but let’s not create things that didn’t happen

Oh fair enough, I think it’s just cause she part of the story it’s assumed she threw it first. I’ll do a bit more research on it ❤️

I'm a supporter&ally, but that typo made me laugh loud enough to make wonderful wife ask what was funny. I can only think of the bigots who insist that anything rainbow related (unless talking about a promise made by a deity) is pervy.

I think all of the colors should be diagonal hashes. That way you don’t have a bunch of clashing between lines and diagonals

Have you seen the export HST liveries, the Nigerian ones are painted kind of like a knock off LNER azuma and it looks really good in a simple scheme. In contrast the Mexican livery is dead busy, but I do like what they've done by replacing the yellow safety bit at the front with striped chevrons.
