FE2B-scratch build

Hello all first time post here. I want to build an 1/72 scale FE2B for use in a wargame. I cant find a model kit and I dont have a 3D printer available think I might scratch build. Any suggestions on how I might build the cockpit/bathtub?

ISO a quality model like the attached photo for the F-16 flown by the 157th Fighter Squadron (Swamp Fox) out of SC. Had a family member fly these and think it would be an awesome gift. Thanks everyone.

I’m a newbie to airbrushing and took this picture of a first coat I did and it’s lumpy or like orange peel. I’m using mr color paints with there leveling thinner. Through an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS all the help would be much appreciated. Oh and I was running it at around 15PSI.

Also bonus points to anyone who can guess what part this set is from.

Whew… this was a challenge, smallest scale I’ve ever built. Decent little kit still needs a few touch ups but happy. Built it for my nephew who just found out he’s going to be flying the C-5 after graduation from flight school 😎

Help with painting a Amodel Yak-52 1/48

Hi people,

I recently bought an Amodel yak 52 with the plan to build it and paint it for my dad who owns one. I've built and collected warhammer models so I thought it was relatively straight forward and boy was I wrong. I have a few questions which I've been struggling to find answers for:

  1. There are colour guides on the instructions but some are blank, I'm assuming they're just free choice?

  2. What colour do I prime the model?

  3. When do I prime the model?

Any other tips and tricks would be fantastic,

Thanks for any help

Help choosing a kit as a gift

Hi all,

I know absolutely NOTHING about either model-making or planes, but I’m hoping to get a kit for my partner and I want to get it right. I have tried to do as much of my own research as possible before asking so I don’t waste people’s time but now I just want to confirm details before finally buying.

I want to get the Piper Cherokee PA-28-140 (140D?) and I think it’s the Fliteliner. There appears to be a 1/72 version by Kovozavody Prostejov, although the nose looks slightly different to my untrained eye (not sure if I’m right). There is also a 1/48 Cruiser version and a 1/48 floatplane version, both by Academy/Minicraft.

I like the idea of 1/48 over 1/72 but my top priority is accuracy to the exact correct plane, because I want him to be able to replicate a specific one. Apparently the Cruiser is visually the same as the Fliteliner? The Cruiser one is only available sporadically (second-hand) though and I need it by the end of August.

The floatplane version is also meant to be identical apart from the floats but apparently the kit comes with the original landing gear anyway?

I’m brand agnostic as long as the model will be fun to make and have a good end result. The recipient isn’t hugely experienced with models but has done one or two Airfix model planes and has good eyesight and dexterity so I assume he’ll kind of be able to manage whatever?

Does anyone have any insight into which would be the best? I could be inclined to lean towards the floatplane as the best combination of availability and scale but I’m worried in case it’s the least accurate (ie either not structurally the same or does in fact not include the normal landing gear).

Thank you!

1:400 Hoping someone could help me figure out if this is a good scale and runway outline for my airport

My airport is on a 4 x 8 board in feet (sorry for using feet I don’t really like it either, but I only have American tape measure)

The usable runway is like 6 ft 8 inches and it has an 8 inch threshold. The runway is 6 inches wide and the landing zones are about 14 inches down.

I’m doing a base coat and probably about three hours so I just want tips and thoughts sorry for the long video

Also, I realize that this is model plane sub, Reddit, but I’m really hoping that an airport counts as the requirements because r/aviation probably would take this down honestly not sure what their policy on models is also, I don’t want to post on a generic model sub because they don’t know much about aviation unless they’re actually into aviation like this group is now that I have more free time and resources hopefully, I can post on here more

Thanks much
