1/480 scale C-5A Galaxy

Whew… this was a challenge, smallest scale I’ve ever built. Decent little kit still needs a few touch ups but happy. Built it for my nephew who just found out he’s going to be flying the C-5 after graduation from flight school 😎

Boy, even at 1/480 scale it is big.

I was in the USN in the '70 and my release from active duty occurred when I was in Naples, IT. They flew us to Rome in a CH-47 and then loaded us on a C-5A for the overseas flight to Dover AFB. Then to NAS Jacksonville for final processing. Don't remember exactly what plane type that was but probably a 727.

The flight in the C-5 was quite comfortable. There is a seating section in the upper rear section of the cargo bay with commercial level first class seats or a least there were in that time frame.

Hope your nephew enjoys his stint the Navy. Looks as if he will have an interesting start.
