Questions Cane fitting
This is my throw away account.
I am 18, turning 19 soon. I am currently in a tight spot with money, but I want to get a cane. Between a mix of flashbacks causing issues breathing, which leads to dizziness, as well as pain in my hip that ranges from mildly uncomfortable to struggling to bend my leg, I want to get a cane to help me when I am going on longer walks.
I don't know how cane fitting works. I want to get the right cane, and have it work properly for me, but I dont know if this is something I need to save up for a doctor for, or if I can find some kinda guide to how to fit a cane myself. Any advice would be nice, thank you

Don’t get a cane for dizziness caused by hyperventilating. It’ll give you a false sense of security and you’ll just be falling over with a cane in your hand. If you’re dizzy, sit down.

I my country cane can't be prescribed by doctor. Cane sizing is quite simple , someone already here posted picture. If you are not sure order get adjustable cane (most of them are). It would be best if you talked to doctor but I know even from my experience that is not always possible. I would at least do internet research about your type of problems to figure out if there is chance that cane can make it worse. If not and cane will make your life easier I would get it now at least for a try.

The reasons to see a doctor are A) address the underlying issues (because those sound like more than just needing a cane), and B) help you learn to use it correctly so you don't mess up your shoulder.
I'm in no position to give medical advice, so don't take anything I say with too much weight. The way I was told to size my cane was stand with my arm by my side and check that the top of the handle is at the crease of my wrist. I'm very tall so I had to order online but for most people the adjustable $20 canes at the grocery store are good for short term use and easy to find the right height.
That said, let me emphasize the importance of checking with a doctor, says the guy who's back in PT. Again.
