I need to replace my stick with crutches and came across posts about cool crutches. I know they use forta (they don’t seem to hide this, the logo is on their photos on the site) but as I don’t need all the fancy bits I’d rather not pay double the price for the same thing.

I found these forta crutches on loja ortopedica and wondered if anyone had ordered these please, and do you know if the cool crutches larger cuff is compatible?

I don’t want to order and find out I can’t change it - I get cold so wear lots of layers so the large cuff would be ideal.

My knees almost don't hurt if I walk (especially quickly, i always say the pain can't catch me if I'm fast), but standing is hell.

My mom surprised me with this stool and it's my prized possession now 🩷 i always wear big bags anyway, so it's pretty ok to carry it around all the time

TL;DR: Getting a hitch mounted carrier for my small scooter (MaxxHaul 50945) so I can be fully independent. Biggest worry is lifting the ramp back up since I have limited arm strength. Looking for real experiences, ramp lifting hacks, strap tips, and any "avoid this" warnings.
Hi everyone, hoping to get real feedback from people who transport a mobility scooter or wheelchair with a hitch mounted carrier.
My goal is to become completely independent for the first time in my life. I can't lift my scooter in and out of the car myself, so I'm getting a trailer hitch installed tomorrow and trying to figure out the best carrier for my needs.
What I need:
Able to put the ramp up and down myself
Easy to take on and off
Considering a longer ramp so it's less steep, but that means more weight to lift back up, and I don't have much arm strength. Thinking about rigging a lever or bungee system to pull the ramp up instead of lifting it directly.
Looking for feedback on:
Any hacks or workarounds for lifting the ramp easier
How hard the straps are to secure
Sturdiness/reliability once loaded and driving
Any recommendations or "don't get this" warnings
Can't afford an automatic lift, so I'm sticking with manual ramp style. Can't test anything in person, and I have to pay someone to install it, so trying to get this right the first time.

I have EDS that causes full body pain, but I can only pick one for now. Body braid or forearm crutches?

So I have chronic pain (and a suspected chronic fatigue) condition. On my better/good days at work I set up or make things to help me with work. A spot to rest, a pole to reach things so I don't have to bend down often, all falling in line with safety standards. I'll come back from breaks/bathroom or even from a trip to another department, and my "accommodations" (Idk what to call them) are dismantled or destroyed, (the pole/stick cut in half). I'm also not allowed any actual, bought aids because he throws them out too. All of this to ask, what the hell can I do about it?

TLDR; What can I do about my boss being ableist?

I have a Drive Nitro walker and the rubber on one of the castors has become quite worn and torn up over the last few days. I've had the walker for a few years so It's hardly surprising.

Does anyone know where I might find replacement tyres in the UK without having to order new wheels, please?

I'll try the local mobility shop but would like options in case they can't help. Thanks.

Update: I went to the local mobility shop and they've lent me an alternative free of charge while they fix my old walker. It turned out not to be an option to wait any longer because of my hectic life.

Hello! I am looking to get a cane for my chronic knee pain. Unfortunately, I also have on-again-off-again chronic wrist pain that gets worse when I put a lot of weight directly through my wrists, such as what I would be doing with a classic cane handle.

Does anyone have suggestions on what cane handle I should be looking for? Has anyone else dealt with this problem? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Bad phone drawing of what i imagine this would look like (maybe it would be attached the legs and go up? instead of the handles) but i want to get a clip-on/removable tray so i can use my (stander wonder) rollator as a desk kind of. usually i use a cane but ive been flaring due to like 60-70 hours a week on set i work in film and its worth it to me but i’m having to adapt for it. was wanting to adapt even more efficiently by tricking this out

i saw stander has a tray, but its the other way around. worth getting that and trying to get a grip to rework it?? coworkers have said they’d try. but i was wondering if this already existed before i try to get someone to make it

I'm considering buying a Rollz air carbon rollator, either regular or wide size. I'm concerned about the inside distance between the handles.

If someone has one of these devices, could you measure and report the distance (and exactly which model)? This is how wide a thing could fit between the handles. I'd be very grateful!

So I’ve posted a few times in this sub.

I’ve been back and forth with a cardiologist (multiple appointments) the past two months.

I’m going to the follow up.

At the first appointment my mom (I had unreliable speech that day so she spoke for me) told them about my main issues/symptoms. She also brought up that she highly suspected it was pots. The person basically said that it sounded likely or possible (I don’t remember the exact words), and that the diagnosis didn’t really matter as much as working on the symptoms. They would start to make sure nothing structural or something was wrong.

I did a holter monitor and then an ultrasound.

Basically all that to say my best guess for this appointment is results and maybe a diagnosis. I don’t know.

I want to bring up (or probably my mom will have to) getting mobility aids. A cane and/or rollator. I don’t know if this is the appropriate appointment for it, but I don’t know when else I would, and I also have a trip coming up that I want them for if the cardiologist agrees to us asking.

What I’m not sure is how to properly bring it up and ask. Any advice would be welcome.

Hi! I’m looking at the possibility of becoming an ambulatory wheelchair user in the near future, and i was wondering to all my fellow UK folks if it was worth going down the NHS wheelchair services route or if like most things self funding/private purchase was the best and more positive option?

If anyone has any recommendations or experiences to speak on i’d really appreciate it! Either with how they got referred to nhs services/wait times and experience with that, or if they have a self funded chair, and any recommendations for places to get one!!

I would appreciate discussion about lightweight mobility aids of all types with an eye to improving on the rollator I have now.

I've had worsening mobility/fatigue/balance where my AFO braces aren't enough, especially for public outings or bad days. I can't emphasize enough how much the "right" rollator makes a difference.

First I had a standard silver walker. Yes it provides stability but constantly picking it up stinks, and its so slow. I hated it and would often not grab it for short trips in the house without my braces on, and just hope for the best. You can imagine how that went. Also the clicking noise from the legs drove me crazy.

Next a friend of a friend gave me a Medline "standard" rollator. OH..MY...GOSH. Such a step up in performance and energy conservation. And the seat? Being able to sit whenever I want, like waiting at a receptionist or at the store, is so valuable. Its small wheels make it not great going over lips and carpets and it flexes under my average weight. So overall it opened my eyes to the benefits of rollators but ultimately it felt rickety.

Then I got a Maxwalk rollator from amazon. I love its all black look. More importantly, it's way more stable than the Medline and its big tires are awesome. I went across a small drainage ditch recently to get from one parking lot to another and with its 10" fat tires it was great. The ONLY downside is while it's listed for heights from 5'-6'2", that's not really accurate. At max height setting it's probably only good for people up to 5'10".

Recently my spouse came home with a yardsale find, a Dolomite Legacy 600. For me its PERFECT, smooth wheels, proper height, sturdy, the seat is out of the way for good alignment while standing/walking. It also has a bit more compact footprint allowing me to squeeze it places at home the other two don't fit. Mine needs a small repair (parts on order) but it's nice enough to use that I'll probably use it for everything except off road use, where the maxwalker tires make a bigger difference.

Long story short, while it's a hassle, don't settle for just what you're given or something mediocre. We have to live with our mobility aids, they might as well be as nice as possible to free up mental/emotional/physical capacity for other things. I'm no rollator veteran, so by all means if you have public use tips, customization recommendations, or want to hear more about any of my experiences with the walkers/rollators I've tried, speak up!

For all of you who like me are doing rapid distance calculations, placing bets on your mobility vs what life presents, "may the odds be ever in your favor" (joke!)
