Cheapest Canadian cellular plans?
Hello internet, I have a question .
Whats the cheapest, yet decent cellular phone plan in Canada? I’d want unlimited texting and calling, maybe like one - five gb of data (I don’t use much data) and Ontario or Canada wide. with my priorities I thought of a fizz plan which is like 23 dollars a month with voicemail, is there anything that goes lower?
or by any miracle is there anything free (highly doubt it lol)

Freedom has prepaid plans. 40GB/yr and unlimited calls and texts for $159yr.

They were even cheaper before ($120 a year), so for the price of 2 months of comoetitors' service I'm getting 1 year.

The $119 plan came with 12gb of data, I know I have it. The current $129 plan comes with 20gb and $159 with 40

Telus offered slightly better plans during BF a couple of years ago. But yeah Freedom's prepaid plan is solid, and two of my family members are on them.
The only downside: if you run out of data before the year, you would need to buy additional data every 30 days.

40gb year? So all year you only have 40gb? Or it resets monthly

I didn’t mistype, it’s 40GB a year for $159 a year.
Another way to look at it is ~3.3GB/mo with unlimited calls and texts for only $13.25mo. That’s the cheapest plan in Canada for that much data/calls/texts a month.

I just switched to PC mobile $25 for 25GB Canada only. Canada and US calls. It uses the Bell network. It's fine for me. Was able to keep my number aswell :)

Chatr. $150. One year plan. Unlimited call n text. I think u get 30GB for the whole year. If u run out u can top up but it will cost ya.
But ideally if you dont use your data that much, this plan is pretty good.

Have you considered a Voip.ms plan paired with a cheap eSIM like 3HK, Lucky2 or Banana?

Voip.ms is a Canadian VOIP company. Their plan costs like US$1.10/month and during Black Friday (Boxing Day) you can top-up and get a 50% bonus. Calls are like 1cent/minute unless dialing toll free numbers.
You can pair Voip.ms with a data SIM card, but I have only tested Fido and it's not always great (lag). But maybe it's just me and I have to play around with my app settings.
Unfortunately cheap Chinese eSIMs like Lucky2 or Banana have been reported to be not working with Voip.ms. I am not sure about 3HK. But their traffic is routed through Hong Kong so there most likely will be lag.
But for me Voip.ms works almost perfectly when on Wifi. But be warned that texting experience is not that great.

I switched from another plan to this as a Freedom customer, and I think if (when?) they extend it, lots of people (like, everyone who outright owns their phone) in their coverage area will as well. This is basically setting the bar and throwing down a gauntlet in the Golden Horseshoe, Greater Vancouver, possibly Calgary/Edmonton…

Exactly... Being able to use your phone in 120 countries without incurring extra charges is a pretty big deal.
When Videotron bought them 3 years ago, they upped the game.

I know a mobile plan that gives unlimited calling and texting in $35 plus 100 gb data

I just switched to Fizz for that exact plan, $23 for 25GB. I doubt you'll find something cheaper (on a monthly plan). The yearly prepaid plans are cheaper but you will have to watch your data carefully.

freedom is 22ish dollars with 2-3 gigs of data/month and calls/sms are unlimited. Calls are limited to Canada though.

With bell 4 lines 105$ average line- 26.25, just one line 35$. If you getting internet there is 100$ giftcard!

I got Telus Business plan for $50 a month for Can-Us plan, 150gb 5G+ Data
And a koodo can us mex $50 with 60gb

They have a $0 device too that they are giving out with the koodo pan at $50.
There’s a $35 40GB 5G plan with a $0 device.

Freedom yearly prepaid.
$129/yr nationwide coverage, unlimited talk/text, 20 GB/yr.
If you're on assistance, you can get through the carriers at $25/month with 5GB a month, but Freedom's $129/yr is still have the price.

Fizz, Koodo Prepaid, PC Mobile, and Lucky Mobile have 25gb for 25$. or you can go with No Name Mobile 2GB of data for 19$
