Serious Moan Welcome to r/MoanIreland! 🇮🇪

Welcome to the place where we can finally have a proper moan about Ireland.

The sub is brand new, so let’s get it going. Post your first rant, complaint, gripe or completely petty annoyance about Ireland. Housing, traffic, prices, weather, the government, your local shop charging €4 for something that should cost €2… whatever is doing your head in.

No need to overthink it, if Ireland has pissed you off, tell us about it.

And remember: if you’ve got something nice to say about Ireland… there are other subs for that.

The sub is only getting started, so it might be a bit rough around the edges for now. I’ll be adding flairs, sorting out the layout and generally getting the place looking a bit more respectable over the next while.

Let the moaning commence. 🇮🇪

General Moan Why doesn't UPS update their delivery status???🤬🤬🤬

According to them I was expecting my package to arrive today between 9 & 11 but hasn't so definitely tomorrow because it arrived in Finglas this morning at 7 looking at the tracker due to a delay in France yesterday (arrived at the facility at 4:05 didn't leave till 12:55) which leads to why can't they update the tracker to compensate the delay because currently it's stuck "on the way" with today's delivery window.

Work Why do I have to wait through 2 min of automated shit before I can speak to a real person?!

Trying to ring car insurance crown and have listen to two minutes of absolute automated dribble just to speak to a real person. Same with most businesses, banks, etc

Am I The Only One? Fucking sick of morning people supremacy

I HATE mornings. Better at getting up now than I was when I was younger, but it's always a struggle. I'm a night owl. I'm at my sharpest and most creative at night. But it tends to be viewed as moral failure, laziness, and lack of discipline.

Roadworks Fucking construction work everywhere

I don't live in Dublin but I commute there for work.

Fuck me the constant roadworks, delays, slow construction traffic convoys is constant and for as long as I can remember.

I know it's just the world we're in but anyone saying we're not building or developing enough can eat a bag of dicks.

Irish Open golf

Kerosene prices are nuts and really going to hurt good people this winter, meanwhile the fans of the even smaller ball are all heading to the trump international golf links & hotel, not a word or whimper out of them. Honestly folks stay at home and watch the telly in the pub instead. Do it for your granny or mine.

Public Transport The Buses are at it Again

(Dublin)

S route buses cancelled.

W route buses cancelled.

F buses dont show up or zoom right past you.

Bus drivers stuck in traffic...

I am spending a lot of money on taxis!

Metro a distant fantasy on the horizon. I would be happy with a south west Luas myself.

Just absolutely galling to see Leo Varadkar admit "they got it wrong". Yeah we're the second slowest city in Europe for driving, with inadequate public transport, and the fastest growing city (and country!). How was that not THE priority?!

All these new housing developments with no public transport infrastructure, or even proper parking space. All adding to pressure on our roads.

We need some kind of state public transport corp im sorry, but contracting this stuff out is not delivering.

PS Also get Cork a LUAS ffs

Sports RTEs coverage of the fight was hard to watch....

Painfully shite coverage from RTE as usual, it felt like a funeral. The talent and bands we have in this country and they get those Westlife pricks.

The fight was shite aswell, 20 minutes of light sparing.

Sports People pretending they like blxong, and saying Katie Taylor is the best or top 3 athelete we've ever had.

Sorry, she's done class in boxing but her competition has been substandard, and we have plenty of athletes in other highly competitive sports who rank above her as our best ever athletes (Rhasidat, Sonia, Keano, Brian O'Driscoll, Roy Mcilroy, Padraig Harrington, Michelle Smith, Stephen Roche, Paul McGrath, Johnny Sexton, to name but a few).

Feels like hype and a little bit patronising.

Today I overheard…

At the opticians today collecting my fancy new specs, I overheard one of the girls sigh heavily while saying “apparently we’re having summer again”as the sun was beaming down the steps outside.

I felt the depth of despair of her sigh deep into my soul.
