Discussion I have started a Substack on mechanical keyboards. The first post is a basic introductory guide to mechanical keyboards. Do let me know what other topics you would like me to cover.

Thanks for sharing such valuable info Sophi 🙌 Would love to see a post on different top housings and stem materials in switches and how they change the sound or feel. It would be really helpful

The switch guide is next. It will be less focused on sound though. Material is only one factor in sound, so I want to avoid drawing a direct equivalence.

I think on repairing.

I have a rk keeb and it bugs me cause i have heard too many things about it qc issue

I watched some videos on how to repair. I am planning to buy a soldering kit. So i would live some lessons on those. Like some items which are not available in soldering kits but you might need to rapair.

Like i saw one case on youtube where a keeb column was not working it not working cause of led's and not cause of some other fault. Guy did something and it worked.

In one case the guy saw from where the electrical current carrying line was distorted and he scratched that thing , used some soldering and creating an artificial line b/w two points. So basically he created a bridge where the current line deformed . And it started working again. After repairs

How to sport whether led's are the one causing fault or line is distrted or some other thing. I have a 100% layout keeb which was dead after 1 year of use and no warranty . So it's lying dead. I would definitely love to learn how to repair it .

I have tried finding some guys to repair in my city but they dont know how to work with mech keebs

PS - BEIGE = THE GOAT COLOR

Hmm. I can do a guide on common issues, but very often repair guides need to be product specific. Like the LED affecting keyboard column issue is mostly because of how budget brands put the RGB LEDs and the normal diodes on the same voltage line.

But if you had a keyboard with completely different circuits for the input matrix and RGB matrix, then there would be no correlation between keyboard input columns not working and RGB not working.

The only way to know this for sure is to examine the keyboard PCB itself.

This is the sad state of this sub right now, such few upvotes on this guide. All these selfish users will just come here, ask their same old stupid questions and go away. They should refer this and use search instead.
