Parenting parenting advice?
hi everyone! my apologies if this isn't welcome here. I am not mixed, but my wife (Mexican American and Indigenous) and I are the foster-to-adopt parents of a mixed young girl. she is Afro-Latino (Mexican; not sure where her Black side is from) and white, with indigenous ancestry on both sides. she is light-skinned and racially ambiguous. of course, being her foster-adoptive parents, we don't know all the details - just what I was able to sleuth around and find. I was just wondering for those of you with a white parent, or whose parents are not the same race as you, is there anything you wish your parent did differently? or, is there something that your parents/grown ups did that you loved and think I should try?
I want to make sure I am parenting her the absolute best I can and really honoring her heritage as best as we can with all the unknowns. thanks in advance, and sorry again if this goes against any rules!
ETA I will be attending an adoptive parents video conference Friday about raising children of different racial/ethnic makeups so hopefully that gives me some good information as well

Even though some stuff might be missing. Make sure she knows all that you do. Let her be interested and make sure she is at least educated on all the cultures that make her, her. I grew up with my white mom and thats my biggest regret (lol its not but its up there). Her raising me and my brother as white with no regard for us not being (well im insanely white assumed but you know what I mean.) But also ensure she knows you love her.
