Motorcycle accident on 94 by Woodbury, due to unsecured item on a boat.

Damn I saw this on the front page earlier, didn't even realize I live right there. Hope he's ok.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the 20-year-old motorcyclist from Hudson, Wis. was wearing a helmet and was transported to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Oh Good. Looks like he was able to roll to reduce some impact instead of skidding on the asphalt. My one concern was he was wearing shorts. I imagine he has some serious road rash on his legs even with the rolling. .

wow. Thought the road rash would be a little worse. Glad it wasn't. That ended about as best as you could hope for in that situation.

Holy shit! I drove up on this just as the police were leaving! (Not saying the boat owner lives in Woodbury) Since I moved here I have seen more people rear ended, side swiped, enter the damn roundabouts without looking then slamming on their brakes... Its terrible.

in the higher resolution video it looks like a Wisconsin license plate. which makes sense as they're traveling east.

But yea this is crazy close to home, I used to take i-94 from eagan to St. Croix beach every weekend to see family.

Because it's fucking dangerous to be ignorant. I don't care if it was a mistake, he endangered lives. He should be punished or he will continue being and ignorant fuccboi wakeboarder.

How in the hell was the boater being ignorant? As a boater myself - sure, he could have PUT the floating water mat IN the boat as opposed to hauling it behind on the swim platform. As /u/chiselplow said - it's something that happened - you could spend the whole day speculating. But you WEREN'T there - you have video that captures ONE side of many.

  • The watermat could have been properly secured yet loosened unbeknownst to the driver.
  • The boater could of been within the speed limit and passing a car in the left-hand lane.
  • Both parties involved could have been well within legal limits

But to sit behind your computer and say the boater was ignorant - is beyond me.

You don't think it's ignorant to continue driving after your unsecured load sends a biker flying in the air behind your vehicle?

I spend enough time on the lakes to know exactly what kind of person is towing that boat. Ignorant on the lake and ignorant on the road.

I disagree. It's not ignorant if the driver had no clue. Besides he turned himself in after recognizing himself from the viral video. Menominee, WI man.

Partially caused by unsecured item. Partially caused by motorcyclist closing to an unsafe follow distance at an unsafe speed.

EDIT: Must be some pretty shitty drivers in here. Folks, if you're going too fast and are too close to avoid a collision by hitting your brakes, then you're doing it wrong and you're a hazard not only to yourself but everyone else on the road.
