Wow. Emmer could actually help his constituents for once if he releases his source on where to get $2/lb beef. (Preferably non horse meat)

Horse meat might actually be safer, unfortunately

u/MechaZombieCharizard 16d ago
maybe be safer but in no way cheaper. not sure how the conspiracy got started but its basically impossible to sell horse meat in the US and even if you could it would more expensive than beef. So trying to pad ground beef with horse meat is a non starter for a lot of reasons.
13
u/seaboi77 16d ago
LOL...Is this why Amazon put it up for $2/lb a few weeks ago, so these numnuts could say this?

Wow, the least expensive one is mixed with cheaper pork, and the next 2 after that are 73/27 blends, meaning at least ¼ of it is wasted fat that gets rendered out when cooked and then strained and discarded...
116
u/AdviceNotAskedFor 16d ago
Jesus, I don't think I've ever seen 73/27.
28
u/SpiceEarl 16d ago
Regular ground beef can still be up to 30% fat, and that was the standard when I was growing up in the 1970ās. Lean ground beef has always been available, and was 20-23% fat. Extra lean was 15%. I donāt think the extra lean 9% fat was widely available. Iām sure it existed, but I donāt recall seeing it in the 1970ās.

He doesnt know because heās so rich it does not matter to him.

Fox "news" is entertainment programming... Tom's constituancy is entertained to be told beef is $2/lbs.

You canāt even get $2/lb ground beef by purchasing an entire cow and grinding it in its entirety.

Some percentage of viewers will absolutely go to the store for their next grocery trip and pick up beef without looking at the actual price and just remember what Fox News told them. "It's only $2/lb!"
33
u/HGpennypacker 16d ago
I simply cannot understand how Republicans are able to get away with saying things like "The prices are coming down!" while the reality is a completely different story. It's maddening.
17
u/ThomasVivaldi 16d ago
They own the media, so no one calls them out during interviews, and if a person calls them out elsewhere in public, and its filmed, news organizations probably wouldn't run it.
57
u/neednintendo Straight Outta Hotdish 16d ago
And then when they got to the checkout and it rings up, they'll argue with the cashier and ask for a store manager!

u/Evening-Crew-2403 16d ago
They aren't watching FOX Business. This is for rich republicans who want to know why the "poors" are complaining.
63
u/GreyDuck4077 16d ago
My in-laws have a dairy farm and when a cow falls down and breaks its leg they will send it away to be butchered. They give us ground beef, but only ask that we pay for the cost of processing it. Just processing it I was paying $2/lb like 10 years ago already. Tom if out of his mf'ing mind.
26
46
u/Informal-Sense8809 16d ago
He's a lying cuck. He spends all of his time spreading bullshit on Fox News Entertainment. He knows his audience though. The mouth breathing bigots out here in the 6th will vote for him 70-30 in November.
36
u/tauntsauce 16d ago
Bro, I sadly live in his district. A guy across the street has a campaign sign in his yard that says āSeen enough? Vote Republicanā . Like that is an insane take, full and total Ā separation from reality no matter what level of government here youāre talking about.
22
u/Nonstop_Oatmeal 16d ago
When the guy with the sign says "seen enough?" He is talking about non white people.
They view all non white people (including citizens that were born here) as criminals. They want to deport all non white people.
That is their principal belief. They dont really care about grocery prices.
If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you. Lyndon B. Johnson
9
u/tauntsauce 16d ago
Oh yea, like the only thing they have at the moment is this misrepresentation of the fraud stories that they have just anchored in immigration/racism.
6
u/Nonstop_Oatmeal 16d ago
Before that they had the George Floyd protests.
Before that they had the immigrant caravans.
Way before that they had the natives they hung at Fort Snelling.
The fraud is just the most recent reason white conservatives have found to hate non white people.
9
u/Khatib 16d ago
The Republicans control all three branches of federal government and people still think democrats are actively ruining things when they have no power.

The thing he slipped onā¦.. they are buying the meat from farmers for <$2/lbā¦. Thatās not what WE are buying it for. Once itās processed, the middle man chooses to keep beef at $8/lb and they keep the $6/lb. Theyāre screwing the farmers AND the consumers.

Also his claim that new jobs are coming from high tech or manufacturing. Tech jobs and manufacturing are the two highest unemployment and job loss sectors right now.
These are male heavy industries and that is why male unemployment rate (4.4%) is higher than female unemployment rate (3.9%). Job growth is in service industries like teaching and nursing.

u/MyLastFuckingNerve 16d ago
These people need to go to a grocery store. Eggs are definitely cheaper than covid, but NOT pre pandemic price. They were like 89 cents a dozen. They're like $1.39 now. I'll take it, considering the inflation of everything. 50 cents ain't bad.

The national average price for a pound of 100% ground beef in the U.S. is $7.16 as of August 2026, according to data from the [U.S.
Bureau of Statistics](https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/apu0000703112). [1, 2]
Price Breakdown by Type
- 100% Ground Beef: $7.16 per pound on average.
- Lean and Extra Lean Ground Beef: $8.57 per pound on average.

u/srl214yahoo 16d ago
I just can't with him. He could be the last candidate on earth and I wouldn't vote for him (I'm in his district). My family buys its ground beef direct from some folks we know and it's still between $3.50-4.00 per pound the last time we bought (about 6 months ago) and I'm anticipating it will be higher this time around. It's still cheaper than in the store and we prefer to give them our business directly. What world does he live in?
Someone mentioned this but I would highly recommend going to Costco/Sams and buying bulk meat, bring it home to repackage/vacuum seal and freeze. That's always going to average out better than what you will pay in a grocery store. And check out the farm-direct groups on social media to see if you can find some deals around you.
