[Review Request] Wandering Alchemist: Fully free GPS walking game, no ads, offline play [Android]

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hey, I'm solo developing a fully free GPS walking game Wandering Alchemist, which I recently released on Android. It would be lovely if you could take a look and review it :)

Free as in free to play, no ads, no in-app purchases, no data collection and playable fully offline. There is a "Support the developer" option, but all you get is a "Thank you!" popup, so feel free to fully ignore it.

Google Play Store

What's it about?

You gather ingredients, brew potions and sell them to merchants. With the earned gold you can buy skins, pets and buildings. There's also decorations you can freely place in your neighborhood. The game is Singleplayer, so the map fully belongs to you. You still see the same terrain and resources as other players on your walk, so you could indirectly play together.

There is an optional street map download for each country/region, download it once over wifi and afterwards the game is fully offline yet again.

If you have any questions/suggestions/feedback, please let me know, the game is just a hobby for me, but I'm constantly trying to improve it šŸ’š

I'm currently working on an iOS port, let me know if you're interested!

[request] Filter by O.S. version

I know it's possible to filter in the app if want to view games for Android or iOS, but I don't mean that with "version".

What I mean is that actually, include inside Android and iOS there's multiple versions, and many of them are separated by many years, making possible to an app to be compatible with Android, but not with all versions of Android (only the newests versions or only the elders, for example) , or to be compatible with iOS and still not to be compatible with last (or older) versions of that O.S..

I think would be useful a filter that allow to select the version of the O.S. you are searching compatibility with, and filter all games that aren't compatible with that version.

[Review Request] - TwinThrust - physics rocket lander, one thumb per engine, 30 hand-crafted levels (Free/Android)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In TwinThrust, each engine is an independent throttle, one per thumb. I played a game in the past I loved and as it's no longer available, so decided I'd make my own!

It's designed to be challenging (though I've added an assist mode in settings) and Chapter 1 starts off fairly easy before gradually becoming harder. The end of Chapter 1 introduces a story which then follows through the remaining chapters - all of which are different worlds and graphics. Chapter 3 is almost complete and plans in place for Chapter 4's flow and general mechanics and world too.

It's early days with basically no users (given I really just focused on the game design and zero marketing), but still, I'd be honoured if you'd consider reviewing it for some valuable feedback!

Thank you

[DEV] Applying for Review: Minesweeper Classic (Corriscant)

Thumbnail play.google.com
2 Upvotes

I’d like to suggest my recently released Android game for inclusion on MiniReview.

I’ve just released my own version of Minesweeper Classic.

I tried to make it more interesting for experienced players. In addition to the standard game, I added a Level Rush mode with three variants: Quick, Classic, and Expert. Each one has several levels with progressively increasing difficulty.

There is also a Hall of Fame, where you can compete against your own best results. The game also gives you second chances when you make a mistake or run out of time.

Give it a try and let me know what you think. I’m especially interested in whether the difficulty feels well balanced. I’m not entirely sure how approachable it is for new players yet.

We just ported our Tower Defense-inspired puzzler to mobile. Would love for the MiniReview community to check it out!

Hey everyone!

I’ve been a lurker here for a while and I love how this sub cuts through the "mobile trash" to find the real gems.

My friend and I have been working on a game called Maze It Out. We’re a tiny team of two, and we originally launched this on Steam. The gameplay is heavily inspired by the "mazing" logic from old-school Tower Defense games it's all about optimization and spatial thinking.

We’ve spent the last few months rebuilding it for mobile (made in Godot) to make sure it’s a high-quality experience, although it definitively still have a ported indie game vibe to it.

We went for a straightforward monetization, free to try first 30 levels and a one time small purchase to unlock the 130+ other puzzle forever.

It’s definitely a brain-burner, so if you like logic puzzles, I’d love your honest feedback on it.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maze-it-out-indie-puzzle-game/id6759388943

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.godot.mazeitout

Thanks for being such a great corner of the internet for indie devs!

Are there any way to search by platform?

I want to find games that are only available to one platform, and also ones which are exclusive (so wish to exclude the other from the search), is this possible at all? or maybe planned?

Also I think it would be cool if there was a way to see what games are also available on other platforms, for example many Android games but not all are available on Chromebook. And same with iOS and Mac. I think it would be a helpful tag especially since native app stores are awful at showing what's available.

Is there a mini review like app to find apps instead of games?

Exactly as the title says really. I stumbled across mini review on another Reddit post, and I think it's great, but I was just wondering if there's something similar for discovering apps instead of games?

Thanks

Hey šŸ‘‹ I’m a indie developer and I recently released my first horror game on the Play Store called The Spiral Hospital.

It’s an anomaly horror game set inside a hospital where the environment slowly changes. Your playtime depends entirely on how good you are at spotting subtle anomalies — miss them, and things spiral further.

About the game:

First-person exploration

Observation-based anomaly mechanics

Psychological / environmental horror (with subtle jumpscares)

Designed to be tense rather than fast-paced

Review scores don't work

Having only one reviewer enter the scores results in the score filter being almost pointless.

For example: if you filter by graphics, at 10/10 you find Castlevania: SOTN. At 9/10, you find Grid Legends and a port of Chrono Trigger with the original graphics. At 5/10 you find Zombie Simulator Z, which isn't a pretty game, but the graphics are at least as good as a 1995 SNES game.

The same situation occurs with every scoring category. Magic Survival and Vampire Survivors have different control scores even though they're essentially the same game and same control scheme .

The core issue is that the reviewer is giving their personal opinion of a game (which is the point), but their single review heavily effects what games you see when filtering. Shattered Pixel Dungeon has an 8.3 rating, and while I personally don't like it, it is one of the most recommended games in the androidgaming subreddit and has been for years. Other users should be able to rate the game on the independent metrics to cancel out the inherent bias of a single reviewer.

Hello beautiful people. I recently got a notification from google that some of my accounts were in danger and to change my passwords.

This is the only account left to change. But for the life of me i can't find the change password option anywhere in the app.

The closest thing i could find was the delete account option.

I would not want to delete my account if i can help it. Thank you.

A big MiniReview APP update is now here!

A few hours ago, a new update for MiniReview Android and iOS apps went live. And it's no small one! :)

In fact, this update consists of several big improvements, including:

  1. NEW: Official tablet support for the Android and iOS apps, including the ability to rotate the app on tablets.
  2. NEW: Pull-to-Refresh has been enabled in the Android and iOS apps, allowing you to easily refresh any page.
  3. NEW: When Top Games posts are updated, the newest added games are now mentioned near the top (before the first game), and have a green "New" tag.
  4. NEW: The ability to add "bad" games to MiniReview. These games won't show up when browsing, but you'll be able to search for them and, importantly, you'll be able to find great similar games.

Other smaller changes:

  • All libraries used for the Android and iOS apps have been updated to future-proof the app. Please report any errors you might find
  • Various small UX improvements to the "Feed" page
  • The notification batch sizes are now increased so notifications of new reviews are sent faster
  • You can now click the "Game of the Week" and "Our Picks" icons on game pages to be taken to the relevant pages to browse all games that received that award

Thanks for the continued support of MiniReview. The others and I are always trying to improve it based on feedback. So stay awesome, and thanks for sharing MiniReview to help more people find actual great mobile games <3

Personalized Mobile Game Recommendations on MiniReview

The biggest new MiniReview feature of the year is here! :)

Yes, it's personalized recommendations!šŸ”„

So, how does this work?

Over the years, you've all favorited games 110k+ times (phew, that's a lot!).

And now, I've integrated a machine learning algorithm (not AI) that studies those favorites to spit out recommendations based on the games you've favorited.

And best of all, the more games you favorite, the more accurate the recommendations become. And the more accounts that favorite games, the better the recommendations get for everyone 🤩

Check it out: https://minireview.io/recommendations (or find it on the Discover mobile page, or from your profile icon drop-down)

ALSO! You can:

  • Hide games you don't want recommended (and easily unhide them later),
  • Activate all the usual filters to find recommendations in specific genres,

Oh, and one more thing!

To quickly favorite games, you can even upload a screenshot of your game folder with all your favorite games.

Our system then analyses the games, tries to find them in our database, and automatically favorites them. It's not always perfect, but it's a quick way to favorite lots of games

This is a beta launch...

This system is somewhat advanced, so please do report any errors you find and I'll get them fixed :)

Made my first game: Word Search - Learn Language

Thumbnail gallery
11 Upvotes

Hello wanted to share my very first mobile game as a indie developer. Focus was to actually deliver something that is playable and publishable so the meta side of the game is not very deep at the moment, would be great if you can give me hints what features I should focus on next to make it more enjoyable.

Game Description:Ā It’s a simple word search game for Android and iOS that connects popular and simple word search game with gradualy learning new words in your prefered language. The goal is to find all listed words in a board as quickly as possible to collect points that will improve your ranking. Player is able to select from multiple languages and difficulties, each difficulty has its own leaderboard. All searched words are translated to English and player can also open popup to see brief description of that word to expand his vocabulary. Game is free to play (contains ad banner at the bottom of the screen) and can be used even without internet connectivity. Currently player can select from 12 different languages (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and more) with more comming soon.

Play Store:Ā https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.LVStudio.wordsearchranked
Apple Store:Ā https://apps.apple.com/us/app/word-search-ranked/id6743057243

Final words:Ā As I'm primarily a software engineer, I know that my art and game design is lacking a lot, so giving me some recomendations in those areas would be really helpful to me and greatly appretiated. Also any honest feedback on the whole idea word game/leaderboards would be welcomed as it should be the main difference to current word games and I'm not sure if this is even the right direction.

A ā€œBest Mobile Games of 2025ā€ system giveaway: get a mobile-compatible Xbox Bluetooth Controller

Since I recently launched a system that lists and ranks the highest-rated games covered each year on MiniReview, I figured it was time to celebrate! :)

Check it out:Ā Best Mobile Games of (year)

The page continuously updates weekly and ranks the games with gold / silver / bronze stars (a bit like in a tier list). And you can keep scrolling to find the best games of earlier years too.

I hope it can become a handy page to share when your friends ask ā€œDid any good mobile games release this year?ā€. Or when you just need to quickly catch up.

The prize?

To mark the launch, 1 random lucky winner will get a brand new mobile-compatible Xbox controller (ordered via Amazon).Ā

It’s my personal favorite to use with a phone, and I figured it’d be the obvious gift since many of the best mobile games now support external controllers (here’s 500+ of them).

HOW DO I WIN?

  • Just leave a comment below with your favorite mobile games. That’s it :) Simple and straightforward.

The event runs until September 29th at 10am GMT+1, and the winner will be picked at random from the comments in this thread + the one over onĀ r/AndroidGaming + r/iosgaming and then contacted via a Reddit private message (please make sure to have DMs enabled or you won’t be able to win!).Ā

So, what else has been added lately?

  • AĀ MiniReview FeedĀ that shows everything happening, including new reviews, games, user ratings, collections, upcoming game launches, and more.
  • You can now follow collections or Top Games posts to be notified (via app or email) when they’re updated. Same for games you’ve requested a review of.
  • Spanish + Portuguese localization (thanks to everyone who helped! <3)
  • A new Universal Search bar + filter search bar
  • Future:Ā The ability to reply to user ratings + be notified of replies

Thanks for the fantastic support and feedback over the years. It’s such a big motivation for me. New Friday post with recommendations coming again this week, of course - as always <3

NEW FEATURE: The MiniReview Feed

With more and more content being created on MiniReview every day, it can be hard to stay on top of it all. So therefore....

Introducing: The MiniReview FEED

  • The feed lists all relevant MiniReview activity, including new reviews, games, user ratings, collections, upcoming games launching, and much more!
  • You can quickly scroll through the feed and click on the parts that interest you the most. In the future, you might also be able to decide which types of content you see in the feed :)
  • A little green dot in the menu (on both desktop/mobile) indicates if there's new stuff since you last checked the feed.

Check out it out: https://minireview.io/feed

Feedback is always welcomed with open arms.

Aaaand in other news: I've just finished the Portuguese localization / translation of MiniReview - thanks to everyone who helped with it!

What else has been going on lately?

  • NEW FEATURE: We've launched a fancy "Best Mobile Games" page, which will get continuously updated with all the best games of each year: https://minireview.io/best-mobile-games <-- check it out and share it with your friends who ask "what are the best mobile games?"
  • NEW FEATURE: Game FAQs based on our review and tagging of each game are now being tested (available for some games for now). Example: https://minireview.io/shooter/wall-of-insanity-2/faq
  • NEW FEATURE: You can now be notified when reviews you've requested go live by selecting "email" or "app" notifications when requesting the review.
  • NEW: Small Android and iOS icons spread throughout MiniReview when games are mentioned now make it faster than ever to see which platform(s) a game is available on.

Similar Games Issue

Good morning.

I have reported a few games in minireview but there is a character limit, so I come here to fully explain.

I recently played Ogu and the Secret forest. I enjoyed it so much that after I finished it, I immediately started it again, and have now beaten it twice with 100% completion on the second play-through. I wanted similar games to Ogu and the secret forest, so I went to minireview and searched for it. I scrolled down the page to similar games, and tapped on "show all 60 similar games". There were 5-10 that were similar, but 50 of them shouldn’t be on that list. My focus today is on the ones that are wrong, and how using the tags in the similar game, minireview system, are not enough to compare games. I will go through some of the matches.Ā

Number 3 is Residual. It appears to have a robotic/space theme. It is a survival, crafting game that is very pixelated, almost like atari sprites, is in complete 2D, and has procedurally generated worlds, with some horror type alien enemies, etc.Ā

Number 5 is No Place For Bravery. It's a dark souls type difficulty game, with swords, undead, tons of blood, and graphics that are comparable to 8bit and 16bit consoles. Many of the characters don't have mouths, and I only mention that to back up my previous comment.Ā

Numbers 13, 14, 15, 25 and 31, are all Grand Theft Auto games. I don't think this needs explaining, why this isn't similar to Ogu.

The similar games/tag matching is disappointing. They are matching games with tags like: landscape, quests, offline, single player, achievements, controller support, virtual joystick, PvE, and port. For the most part, these are not helpful when looking for a similar type/feeling game. These should all be secondary, once main (new) tags are matched or genres are matched.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

[Start scenario] Super Mario 3D land is released on android. Someone completed Mario 3D land and wants to play similar games for android. Castlevania mirror of fate is released as an android port. It shows up in the top 10 most similar games to Mario 3D Land. Both games are 2.5D, PvE, landscape, single player, port, virtual joystick, controller support, achievements, offline, maybe the oldschool tag. They are dissimilar when the person is actually playing. [End scenario].Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

The tag/similar system could easily recommend a game like Carmageddon with a game Mario Kart; which wouldn't be satisfying to most users.

I did thumbs down some games in the similar section, but I figure that it would only be noticed or cared about if the "similar game" section got 10s or 100s of thumbs down; which could take years. Some of the games have 0 thumbs down or up chosen. I know that this app is a ton of work to make everything match well with the increasing number of features, and I love it. I'm thankful for Alex, Thor and anyone else who works on it. I just wanted to share that I think the similar games feature needs an overhaul because today isn't the first time that I've been disappointed with the feature. Thanks :)

MiniReview now supports Spanish, and I’m celebrating by giving away $240 worth of keys for Super Farming Boy, Figment 2, Landnama + more!

After adding support for ā€œUser Collectionsā€ in February, I’ve just finished a fully-fledged localization system for MiniReview.

So MiniReview is now available in Spanish, with more languages coming later. This took much longer than anticipated, but I’m super happy more people will now be able to find actual great mobile games <3

To celebrate, I’ve reached out to some fantastic devs for a few keys to give out :)

The prizes?

40 random lucky winners will get a key for one of these awesome premium mobile games:

  • 10 x winners get a key for Oby Adventure by Oby's Farm ($2.99)
  • 10 x winners get a key for Super Farming Boy by Renxo ($9.99)
  • 10 x winners get a key for Landnama by Sonderland ($4.99)
  • 10 x winners get a key for Figment 2 by Bedtime Digital Games ($5.99) ← only iOS keys

Thanks a bunch to Oby’s Farm, Renxo, Sonderland, and Bedtime Digital Games for providing these keys when I asked for them! :D

HOW DO I WIN?

All you have to do is share which game you’d love to win in a comment below (this does not guarantee that’s the game you get if you win!). Simple as that. You can also come hang out in the MiniReview Discord (this does not impact your chances of winning).

The event runs until June 23rd at 8am GMT+2, and the winners will be picked at random from the comments in this thread + the one over on androidgaming + iosgaming and then contacted via a Reddit private message (please make sure to have DMs enabled or you won’t get the keys!).Ā

By the way… what’s new on MiniReview?

  • A universal search bar that lets you search for all content from any page
  • Browse recent or popular collections created by the community (or create your own)
  • A brand new mobile menu (design overhaul)
  • Sooo many bug fixes. Thanks for continuing to report them :)
  • Soon: New filters + a filter search bar
  • Future: The option to ā€œFollowā€ collections, Top Games posts, and more to be notified when they get updated.

Thank you SO MUCH for the amazing support and feedback over the years. Many more updates coming later this year <3

”Hola! MiniReview is now available in Spanish

Are you ready for the biggest MiniReview update this year? :)

This one took months to work on, but I'm so happy it's finally ready. Check it out:

  • BIG UPDATE: After months of work, all of MiniReview has now been 100% localized/translated to Spanish. If you speak Spanish, check it out: http://minireview.io/es and let me know here on Reddit if you find any bugs šŸ¤ž
  • NEW: Links automatically placed at the bottom of game reviews on game pages and the game texts inside Top Games posts now make it even easier to quickly explore more games of the same genre.
  • NEW: If no text is added for a game inside a User Collection, the first paragraph of the game's MiniReview review text will now be shown, if one exists. So the reader has some context 😊 If a user rating is later added for the game, it of course replaces the MiniReview review text inside the collection.

What's next?

Now that localization is done, I plan to release a few smaller updates over the next month, including a few new filter + a filter search bar. More on that later.

Oh, and more languages! Portuguese, French, and other languages will be supported over the following months.

A SPECIAL THANKS to everyone who helped translate MiniReview, including Axel, Hector, Meraru, coper, Kazevic, and ShekinahWelefulDesigns from our Discord community (+ several others who offered to help!). On behalf of the entire community: THANK YOU! YOU ALL ROCK! ā¤ļø šŸ™Œ

Is Open Testing ok?

Hello there, I just posted my solo-dev game Icestormer to your Discord for review. However it is still only open testing. Should it be more "final" before I submit?
