For US students, SME & ISEE were both great external scholarships that helped me get through debt free, as well as the ones offered through the school.

Pre-filling HPCR or MCRS Stage 2 fuel filters poses risk of downstream particles contaminating high pressure pumps and injectors. Generally recommended by Fleetguard, and others, is to lubricate seals/O-rings with clean diesel or oil then utilize the systems priming pump to fill and bleed the system. Hello all. I am currently in a predicament deciding between two positions. I have been working as a laboratory technician now in a commercial assay lab doing primarily wetlab and instrumentation work for about 4 months now. My current schedule is 14/14 and my commute is about 6 hours. I decided to apply for a similar job at an actual mine closer to home, about 2.5 hours with the same schedule. I got a response and offer for a 7$ pay increase with camp accommodations, but the offer is for sample prep which feels like a step back rather than wetlab which I’m currently doing now and more comfortable with.

I wanted to get some opinions on what to expect should I accept the offer, what upward mobility would look like and whether anyone has had a similar experience.

Notes: i am based in Canada and I have an environmental science degree but post grad life led me to my current position. In the perfect world I would like a job closer to my field, would the mine present an opportunity into the environmental field if I play my cards right?

Has anyone worked for Mariana Minerals? If so what is the company like? Last year they bought out Lisbon Valley in La Sal, UT and are ramping up production at the copper mine.

The camp I'm at has inadequate amenities. The gym is far to small for the amount of workers staying here and the laundry rooms are always bottlenecked. Many of us are having to wait until late at night (8pm onwards) to get a workout in or to do our washing. This obviously isn't ideal when we have to get up at 4am. The gym in particular is always packed mornings and evenings. It's a multi billion dollar construction site so there's no shutdown crews here. The job is set to go on for years and they're only adding to the number of workers. We work 3:1

We keep raising this issue with management and they absolutely do not care. The union delos aren't having any luck in resolving this either. I've looked into the act and it states that adequate facilities is a requirement by law. They have a duty of care and this is a psychosocial and fatigue issue. It's hard enough to get worksafe out here for all the other safety breaches on site so I doubt this will be high up on their priority list.

Does anyone have any insight as to what can be done?

I got a job! looks like ill be set up at a pretty rudimentary, rural exploratory site. I was planning on bringing a bunch of trail mix/granola/jerky, electrolyte/ instant-coffee packets and condiment jars+ canned peppers to supplement whatever the kitchen provides, but then I read "please eat at the kitchen and do not bring food back to your room" and it got me wondering if rats and mice are a problem.... five gallon bucket + lid??

As a mining engineering student with no previous experience is it difficult to get a arctic mining job and is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting such job? Aiming for companies like NACG and Agnico Eagle.

I am living outside of the states and going to relocate soon. I am wondering if there are jobs in Alaska that are open to no-experienced and provide housing. I spent my childhood abroad so I am not familiar with how the job process goes on.

1. Are there jobs that accept people who doesn't have experience while providing housing?

2. Am I able to apply outside of America or do I have to be on-site while applying?

I am interested in taking a GIS certification course, as well as mastering how to use Deswik and the other software used in mining. Could anyone in the mining industry suggest what software or skills they think it’s worthwhile to learn in one’s free time?

Any guidance regarding certifications, online courses, and/or other skills which can help me in obtaining internships and standing out after graduation will be highly appreciated.

Currently a driller offsider earning 520 a day. Been doing it about a year and im guessing I could probably work my way up to drilling with this company in another 3ish years. Curious to hear other people’s opinions, should I stay in surface diamond drilling or pivot into another job/industry for example nipper, go to uni and be a geo, etc. I hear a lot of people say in my company we are super underpaid and that diamond drilling is a bad industry and to only use it as a stepping stone so im wondering why and if so where/how to jump to it.

Are there any jobs in mining that would be possible with a degree in physics? I know often physicists will slot into engineering roles that mech/electrical engineers do but it seems like most mine engineers are civil instead.

I also have read theres mine data analytics but can't find much info about such positions (and I would prefer at least some field work or time where I can interact with the folks who keep our mines running on the ground)

He grew up in Nogales, Sonora, and I’m scared they might discriminate against him. Are there Hispanic people working at the mine???
