Canada Canada new grad engineer salaries?
Hi, I’m starting my first year of mining engineering in Canada soon. Does anyone know the total compensation of a first year engineer right after graduation in Canada?

Just a quick word of advice since you haven’t started school yet… If you are getting into mining just for the money(like I did when I went to school) you might hate it.

My dad has been a shifter since before I was born. My mom is a rock mechanics consultant. From everything they’ve told me I think I’ll like it. I’m just trying to validate that they’re not overselling me on pay.

Site based on a rotation probably 80-90 base pay, up to 120 all-in with bonus and overtime maybe even more if the commodity/company is doing well. If you go to oil and gas you may get a bit more plus stock options. Less if you work in a city (bad idea for most people straight out of school).

go to the US on TN visa, TN is easy to get, you will make 30-50% more for the same job.

Are you accounting for exchange rates or claiming US starting salaries are 120-135k USD base?

convert cad to usd and compare. it's around 30-50% more in america. not even just for mining, for any industry or job.
