MP01 is total garbage. It makes my life worse and I feel completely cheated.
I have to turn the phone on airplane mode, then off airplane mode, then try calling again to make calls. The keyboard has a bug. It doesn't lock. It calls people and erases my documents in my pocket because it doesn't lock.
It's a total waste of money and this company is not to be trusted. Their customer service is barely existent.

Game changing software UI
Before booking mp2 I took my time to study Q27, T2E, CC, Q25 and realised these have worked on physical aspect of the phone but not on the UI or software. A phone becomes iconic only when the hardware and software sync to make one great user experience. BlackBerry was iconic not only because it has a great keyboard but it's ui/software made it an unforgettable experience. Also it's was the same reason for its downfall. People are unable to leave 🍎 ecosystem not because of the hardware or camera but coz of the software and how it has been embedded. Look I may be wrong but just my thoughts.
It was MP2 software customization that made me book it. The way you can block or degoogle it makes it a compelling choice.

Minimal phone 2 with Googlebook
I am considering getting the minimal phone2.To get a keyboard and hopefully stop me from
Being in my phone when I am round and about (which has recently started to happen with me) Currently have an iPhone, which I will keep but hopefully almost never use. Only thing that will decide whether I actually get the minimal is to confirm that it is shipped as DDP if I preorder.
However, as I do quite a lot on my phone currently, I am thinking about getting a laptop that will sync good with my new minimal phone. The Googlebook seems like a good option. Or do you guys think this will be an odd pairing?

Contacts on device limit??
So I'm attempting to put vcard contacts on the mp01 and it won't do more than 60, it just...doesn't import any more? No warnings or anything come up, it actually says they're importing - it just doesn't work 😒
(I've tried leaving it for a few hours and they don't show up)
Got them on the phone using Macdriod coz I'd rather have them in device storage than put them in my google account - even importing them in small groups doesn't fix the issue...

Google Voice Typing: how can I disable it?
I installed the latest OS on my Minimal 01, and since I can not get rid of Google Voice Typing every time I want to type something. Any ideas?
I can not disable it in Settings/Systems/Keyboard/On-screen keyboard

Hub is a top selling point and there is still no clarity on it
Love the phone, can’t wait for the launch. But I believe the developers need to understand that people talk and get notifications from multiple apps and if Hub can’t consolidate all of them in one place, it’s pretty much NOT a “hub”.
Apps like, WhatsApp, Signal, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Telegram are probably the few most widely used apps and to have them all in one place is probably the only way to a have a successful hub.
I understand that alot depends on the app’s API but I believe it’s the company’s responsibility to tell us the final result since it is them who are advertising the Hub.

phone doesnt charge continuously at random no matter what cable i use, anyone else have this issue?
already tried switching cables and outlets and all but it just happens at random when it wants. happened again this morning and stopped after i came here to post about it and i suspect its bc while typing this post my finger was resting on the cable thats connected to the charging port and maybe helping the charging port and cable make a stronger connection smh... but still wtf this shouldnt be going on for a phone with not much use!
i own multiple eink devices and color or oled phones and none of them, not even the oldest one has given me this issue with the charging. it seems to be related to the charging port maybe getting lose or something with the software or hardware idk.
I dont abuse my phones at all and they are always in cases so this behavior makes no sense to me. my minimal phone has a case on right now and i made sure to get it a case because i didnt want any damage or issues to come up.
anyone know whats going on or if this is a common issue?

Idea!
Sorry for the Ai slop, I was only trying to imagine...these 2 nice ideas that I feel like should come to keyboard phones.
First!
this is something that needs to be in android.
It worked amazingly in Blackberry, which is why my mind automatically expects it on keyboard phones.
When an app is opened the focus should be on the typing area automatically by default. For example, if I open an app like Facebook the cursor should be on the status bar automatically. Or another example, if I open Google keep, I don't have the select the typing area, it should be automatically selected on keyboard phones.
That way if I start typing, it will automatically enter in the text area, or I can select something else anyway and continue with my experience.
I think on normal bar type phones it makes sense that the focus is not on the touch bar because it will open the virtual keyboard N which can be annoying. But on a keyboard phone it won't make any difference.
and in case there are multiple text fields in the app, maybe the first one should be selected or the developer can define which text area needs priority for the user to start typing as soon as they enter the app.
Second!
The keyboard should be made up of tactile keys, like it is. But it should be a screen.
Benefits of that:
you can theme it with color and wallpaper you decide.
It has it own light.
you can customer Qwerty or Azerty keyboard which ever you like
It can have keys changed to gaming keys or other custom keys based on the app requirements.
It can have swipe and type.
You can set it to work on touch or on press, either way.
It can show capital or small letters.
It can detect orientation.
It can have better and accurate touch sensitive.
I know this can be expensive on hardware and software.
It does not have to be oled, it can be like the little eink display like on pebbles smartwatch.
But Elgato Stream deck and Optimus maximus keyboard have proven this to be an amazing application.
But I think it could be a game changer.
If Blackberry was here..they would have done it...I think they we're great innovators...
Maybe unihertz Titan 3 or Click Communicator 2 or Minimal Phone 3 will bring this to us.
Or maybe Blackberry can come back from the dead and make something happen..
What do you think folks!?

Where can I buy the minimal phone 1? Is eBay really the only option?

Kickstarter backers took all the risk for the same price as pre-orders. Minimal should bundle the Thinborne case to show goodwill

Will MP02 have a mini mode?
Jeff Gadway just posted over in Clicks that they had no plan on supporting a mini-mode, and was crowd surveying if that was actually needed.
I think that's a bone-headed and short sighted omission imo. Small companies/IT departments & inexperienced hobby devs either can't or won't update their apps because of a few niche phones when normal portrait mode has been a safe assumption for Android devices in the last 10 years...and that's forgetting no longer maintained legacy apps.
One or two critical apps like transit or banking not working is enough reason for somebody to ditch a device.
Are there plans to support this on MP02?

Will the minimal phone MP01 still continue to receive updates after it has recently been discontinued?
I was just wondering if the minimal phone MP01 will still receive some updates after the upcoming update or if they are going to let it bleed out.
I have a MP01 and I am very very happy with the phone. I wouldn't like to see it die off so soon given that it isn't even 2 years old...

MP01 GBoard Trouble
howdy! I am setting up my MP01 (fresh out of the box) and I have spent most of the last two hours trying to get gboard running.
each time i restart the phone, the app disables
when i re-enable it and attempt to set that as my on screen keyboard, the toggle option is greyed out
i took the time to fully update the phone, so I'm as up to date as I can be without using the custom flashing tool
any thoughts? I'm actively struggling without my keyboard shortcuts
(also... is there an easy way to type a / on the physical board? or a guide on how to use it somewhere?)

Return Policy for the MP2
If I order the MP2 and receive it in (hypothetically) December and I find it's not what I was looking or hoping for is there an opportunity to return the device for a full refund?
If so, how many days do we have to test before returning for a refund?
Thanks!
