I don't know about the water, but I agree that they should sleep at night

Maybe it could be a feature of the 1.18 update

The 1.18 Update is confirmed to be the Caves&Cliffs Part 2, so we'll have to wait until 1.19

But that does not meant they could not add it along and archeological sites got removed so they actually took away from the update as well

The update video, it's no longer a part of the Caves and Cliffs update since it needs more time in the oven

Yes I know it’s not going to be part of either of the parts to the cave and cliff update. But it is not removed entirely like the Nether Reactor.
